It made it SO much more epic that MVG narrowly missed with his last dart and Smith calmly checked out after. Goosebumps.
Even tho it was on for smith after mvg missed, you just never felt it was gonna happen, just because of laws of probability to keep hitting trebles is so long, it’s just an astonishing moment that he managed to complete it in the perfect moment

The moment where every single person is begging for the 9 darter to go in and when it does, utter bedlam. The commentary never fails to deliver on these special moments and after hearing their both on a 9 ,I was fully absorbed and was hoping so badly that one would hit it, MVG coming so close, also made this that much sweeter and Smith just delivered when it mattered most. Certain moments in sport cannot and will not ever be forgotten and this is one of those Golden sporting moments. Man I love Darts and the sky coverage is class in a glass. 🍻

I feel like even if MVG hit, there should be a rule that if both players are on a 9 darter and the first thrower gets it, the second still gets his throw and if he gets it both are awarded a leg just to see two 9 darters in the same leg.

The way they were both scoring, it felt like a 9 darter was possible but definitely didn’t expect it like this. This is what live sport is all about, moments like these. Pure theatre, pure drama. As they said in commentary, we could watch darts for the next 50 years and not see this again. What a final, kudos to both players.

I used to go to the darts here in Dublin as a kid (c. 2006-08), then I must say I stopped following the darts a lot from around 2012. But recently I re-discovered an interest and what a time to re-discover that interest as watching this leg and match tonight was incredible!! It was half time in the football match over on the main event channel and they mentioned the WC was on at the same time so i decided to flip over and have a look as I'd never watched live darts before and that was 5 minutes before this happened and I am SO glad I turned it over and watched the rest of the match, it was incredibly entertaining!
Holy crap, watched this live and even watching it now, I still get goosebumps and it really was pure magic on every level.
If Smith wins this he'll turn into an absolute monster. Been threatening it for years. Just couldn't get over the line in a major final. Managed that for the first time at the Grand Slam. If he can add the World Title here he'll go on to win a huge amount of majors over the next few years.
