Superheroes! Boats! We look at Marvel's Avengers and the Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection in Show of the Weekend! Wooo, weekend! ⚓️
where in the heck he got that tape recorder. Wait, Jane, Luke borrowed your Time machine and stole a tape recorder from 1992.
I LOVE YOU GUYS
really excited for the Avengers game, and its somewhat relieving but also a little sad that its not set in the MCU, but this way they have more freedom with story and character developement (and also dont need to pay the actors for the making of the game)
For anyone wondering what a Puckle gun is, Forgotten Weapons have the info: czcams.com/video/GPC7KiYDshw/video.html
Luke's retirement plan is to become Mr Toad from The Wind In The Willows
Luke describing the hulk :"Paste. Paste. Paste"
Almost as if he were making a sort of mortar..... with.... humans.
Building an orphanage maybe?
He just can't help himself, can he?
Hulk do good boss?
Luke's Hulk is a lot darker than regular Hulk.
@@cthulhufhtagn2483 see Ultimate Hulk, who's worse in almost every way
Ha! A while ago, I commented a lengthy list of evidence that Luke is actually, secretly, the darkest of the Oxboxtra team under his plucky external demeanor. "The Wall" was definitely included, and this certainly reinforces the concept.
I mean, he harvested all the Little Sisters for cripes sake!
Just kidding Luke! (Don't kill me)
Luke talking about a crew of a ship singing songs
Me: can the skeleton army sing?
Yes, bass. Is our fans, bass.
Yes, bass. Got vocal cords from the orphanage...
Yes, Bass. Cost another albatross it will.
@@Kaiser8513 kill one or another maimed one
@@martinflyer1197 probably maim. Forgot to feed the last one
Taskmaster: can learn any skills used against him.
Avengers: lets use black widow! The human who's only power is her skill!
Well... no. Ok super-longevity is a boring power, but Tony can't imitate weapons. So if you bring weapons he doesn't have then he has to use something else. Also, knowing 200 ways to punch and kick doesn't really give you an edge in combat strategy.
The most tragic thing about the sinking of Luke's ship isn't the loss of all hands. It's that down there, beneath the waves... they found the Water Temple
I was king of expecting Ellen to switch tunes to Il Mio Cuore Va when they hit the reef and sank.
(Look it up if you didn't get the joke.)
@@Sableagle You are a King?! Nice to finally talk with one.
Ellen: looks threateningly, dead on, at you
Luke on the other hand: tilts his head this weird way, like he's waiting for applause
"if I was the hulk I would make smart, tactical decisions" -Luke, not understanding the hulk
Maybe Professor Hulk or whatever he was called in that comic? Generally though, Hulk's strategic decisions were - what should I smash? First?
Why else does the Hulk decide to smash an already collapsing bridge?
Ellen: "What song would you like your pirate crew to sing?"
The answer I thought Luke would say: "Vangaboy's We like to party."
Same!
i think we all know the next song must be Jingle Jingle Jingle, everyone else in the wold
Show of the Weekend theme tune as a bonus track/ B side?
Now that's going to be in my head next time I hear the cat's collar bell.
i sincerely hope someone has submitted that version
I'm holding out hope for "Put him in a box, in a box..."
Surely that’s the remix version they’re gonna release in a few months
Another great discovery of a superhero's true catchphrase:
Spider-man: "Web"
"HULK PASTE!!"
How perfect is it that Luke has a jumper on that says 1992 on it while holding a tape recorder, love everything about the aesthetic.
YOu notice it too.
Luke: if I was hulk then I would put them together and just paste paste paste
Me: ohh yeah paste where have I hear that word before?
You called boss?
Ok
someone HAS to do a "Literally everyone else in the world" remake with dogs and cats noises... it NEEDS to exist
KK Slider remix
A Literally Everyone Else In The World Jinglecats would be delightful
Sung by KISS or Rammstein.
Luke’s New Song sounds like when Ross found his “sound” in Friends.
No explosion.
You beat me to the comment. Two thumbs up! (If only I could. ^^)
I was thinking Gabe’s soundscapes in The Office
On Luke’s new song - to quote Luke himself: “I think it’s a great first version. This IS a first version, right?”
I'm just replying to say I love your username.
Every time they say TaskMaster I can't help but to think of the hilarious show hosted by Greg Davies
Me too, now I really want a TaskMaster themed show!
Luke: listen to this song I've been working on!
Ross from Friends: finally, a worthy opponent.
Luke is going avant garde with his music direction, which means a version of the show of the weekend theme with theremin and harpsichord instrumentation is on the way. #preshbeats
To be honest. I want to hear that.
I want a theorbo.
It'd be nice to hear a theorbo in the new Show of the Weekend theme, too.
Don't knock the theremin. It worked for Star Trek.
God. As a post/math rock fan, Ellens “when does it start” hits a little to close to home 😅
One thing I miss about old fashioned singles is that back in the day that would have been a great B side
Having made many albums referred to by my family as "not music," I definitely sympathize.
I think Luke is channelling his inner Ross...
Post/math rock?
I'm picturing Susie Dent drunk, of course, fronting an 80's hair band.
I was getting more prog rock vibes from it. Had an uncanny resemblance to the start of Rush's 2112.
I remember AC Rogue and feeling the Assassin/Templar dynamic was off- whereas before Templars were 'we do what we want because' and Assassins were 'we are responsible for our actions and their consequences', suddenly the Assassins are 'we follow no laws but our own' and I'm thinking, 'where did their sense of moral responsibility go?' like they forgot the first rule of the Brotherhood- 'stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent'
“What would you like to be sung to you by your crew as you sail the open seas?”
Me: Disney music! (From the older, more classic movies.) I’d love to hear them chanting Hellfire from the Hunchback of Notredame, and while boarding another ship start piping up with Poor unfortunate souls from the little mermaid. Gotta admit it’d be pretty cool 😎.
Congrats Luke, you’ve invented the intro music to a cheesy 80s sci-fi
drinnik Luke plans to become the British Tangerine Dream it seems.
I really wish they'd do an Assassin's Creed and Skyrim crossover, "Assassin's Kippers"...
Nick Jeffery just play the dark brotherhood quests.
Kippers’ Creed
Luke's super hero pose is more of a Dr. Who pose. Luke being the Doctor might explain a few things...
Oh Luke, where you go from here is:
"Jingle Jingle Jingle
Everyone else in the world"
I am just gonna say this about the whole "It felt good to play" about the Avengers game. I played the Anthem Beta and truth be told it absolutely felt good to play. Sadly that Beta was just about everything the game had/has to offer overall.
Yet I am still cautiosly excited for the Avengers game. Please Crystal Dynamics, don't let the sacrifice of Shadow of the Tomb Raider be in vain.
0:35 That moment you realize that Luke went full-Kojima for his next song...
It feels like they're trying to hook you in the prologue by letting you play as the iconic Avengers but then you spend the rest of the game as a fairly pants, less cool character.
Could be another Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty instance with playing as THE Solid Snake during the prologue and then Raiden for the rest which wasn't... well received.
For the sake of the Avengers fans and Crystal Dynamics I hope they can make it work.
The problem with this theory is that Kamala was the coolest character shown.
@@senhowler awesome, if she has the fanbase then I'd be happy to see this theory fall apart at the seams.
Luke: looking at the economy, I won't be able to retire
Relatable content... depressingly relatable
Show of the weekend should just always end with you two "sinking" off of the couch like that, it was hilarious!
Best show ending yet.
“God of War, not that I’ve played it...”
Thanks OXTRA for me having to explain to my wife why I spat out my breakfast.
Now I'm really scared of the Taskmaster; he might stop me from procrastinating and pressure me into actually doing important things!
nah, if his show on dave is anything to go by, he'll get you to do something weird, like roll an egg along these hotwheels tracks using a spatula , furthest distance wins
"paste" "web" what's the next underwhelming one syllable catchphrase for a Marvel superhero? because I think they all need one
Morton Tooley “Zap.”
“Beam.”
“Bow.”
“Spell.”
“Whap.”
Wham!
I guess the Marvel game is a bit of a "Thor" point for Ellen considering the Crystal Dynamics lead studio were making it instead of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
"That's a big leap!" True, but AC is famous for big leaps. XD
“If you look at their boots...”
And I proceeded to only look at their boots in all the clips.
The new piece of music Luke produced sounds like something one might hear when submerged in the void between worlds, Hunger of Hadar style.
Wait, LEEITW charted at 42?! Does that mean that literally everyone else in the world is the answer to literally *everything* else in the world? That's deep, man.
“I wish I could retire and devote myself to hobbies,” said the man whose entire career revolves around playing video games with his friends and talking about playing video games with his friends.
"A carronade? What is this, a cannon for ants?" Luke Westaway, 2019
I feel “paste” has the potential to be the new “web!”
I can’t get over how good their animal crossing speech is

"She does that thing where she jumps up on people and takes them down."
Every wrestling fan with eye twitching: Hurricanrana. Flying headscissors. Frankensteiner.
Andy and Mike included. LoL.
Me as king of the nerds: erm ACTUALLY, it was a flying head scissors as she went off to the side. Hurricanrana is jump up then fall backwards, Frankensteiner is front flip onto shoulders then fall backwards.
WHATAMIDOINGWITHMYLIFE!!!!
ACK-cthually, Frankensteiner is the name of the choreographer, the move itself is just known as The Move ;P
The front flip into the takedown is the Dragonrana.
Scarlett Johansson referred to it on Colbert as "the crotch neck grab thing"
Oh, musically we are going to, "Space!".
The real question is where did Luke find a tape recorder?
Ebay?
Hell?

The Great Ambivalence sounds like the newest Neverending Story villain. "you've defeated the Nothing, but now you must face the Great Meh!"
Taskmaster, the master of tasks that you must complete for him.
He task them, all of them being tasked by the taskmaster
To be fair Teach-Me-How-To-Task, while accurate, is a terrible name for a villain
He's called Taskmaster because he can complete any task he can copy any fighting style any weapon Style and he can train any villains in the fighting styles of Avengers and weapon styles of other superheroes
I wonder what Ellen's Reaction would be if the new developers of Kingdoms of Amalur decided to change up the game.... if a new one ever comes out.
Also, _paste_ Luke?! Remember the Skeletons and the Orphanage?!
Who else expected Bud Fenzler to burst in when they mention RDJR and his expensive likeness?
That's exactly what I was thinking! 😂
Who?
@@rewritable_ Robert Downey Jr.
Bud Fenzler is Andy's attorney role.
Right, THAT Bud Fenzler. Yes, he's not on top of his game today.
So, is Luke actually just Ellen's stuffed toy and we're just seeing her imagination?
Can we all just appreciate the fact that Luke is so old school that he recorded his new music onto tape and not on a computer like all these ‘Zoomers’ would.
that or he's a hipster. And or using a variable playback speed player.
Thank you so so much for featuring my art!! (King George is me ^^) im so glad you like it and you’ve absolutely made my day!!
19:00 I’d have one of them hold me while the others sing, “Near, are, where ever you are...”
“I mean i fantasise about retiring all the time.”
*muffled shouts of millenial agreement in the distance
Luke? Bad news: by the time you do get to retire, you'll be too old for adventuring. Get that tuff done before you hit 50, lad, or before you hit 35 if you were ever in the army.
Sableagle man im in my mid 20s. By the time i reach the current retirement age it’ll have been raised to about 147. Im stuffed lol
I will forever now see the Hulk squeezing bad guys to death, like a frube in the hands of a hungry schoolchild... Thanks guys 😅
This is one of the many reasons I look forward for the weekend!
I just finished my second play through of PS4 spiderman and I kept thinking "a sequel with the other Avengers would be great!"
Then I remembered that Marvel's Avengers is probably going to make that difficult.
I really want to see Ellen and Rob from access produce a new Pingu episode with their spot-on impressions
Luke’s song was perfect (I’m definitely not biased as we have the same name... heh... haha...)
Gotta admit... Seeing the menu footage of avengers game there... Seeing the two currencies.... Not getting a good vibe from that.. Just putting it out there.
And Ellen did say feels centered at miss marvel who has like more that 4 comic reboot in the past 4years not sure how this is going to hold
Same here, but I'm trying to keep optimistic since I've been a fan of Crystal Dynamics.
In some of the Black Widow backstories, she is not a normal human. She was administered a serum similar to the one Captain America was given. If that backstory applied to the MCU she would be around 80 years old as well.
Not to be that "fanboy" but AC Rogue did not come out at the same time as Black Flag, Rogue was the final last gen AC Title and actually released on the same day as AC Unity, as its ending ties into the start of Unity, the original play was for Rogue to release 2 weeks before Unity but then Ubisoft kinda buried its launch by moving Unity to the same release day..and we know how that went.
Rogue completes the Colonial Trilogy as timeline is Black Flag, Rogue then AC III......Rogue is an amazing twist on the classic AC focus on the Assassin's as the good guys and Black Flag...is Assassin Pirate fun!
Canonically, Hawkeye is deaf in the comics...
"Loot" wasn't really the secret ingredient I was hoping for in the Marvel game lol
I love Luke's take on The Hulk, so basically it's the "Little Bunny Foo Foo" maneuver. Pick em up and squish em, Yay.
Of the whole gang, I didn't expect Luke to become the Yoko.
As a boat builder in Maine, the quiz was the best combination of ship talk and game nerdistry I've seen in a long while! Thanks for the sea shanties too guys 😁
"We need to create a sense of dread.... The longer the note, the more dread!"
I would want my crew to sing "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", by Iron Maiden.
"What would you like to be sung to you by your crew?" - I really thought, that Andy would come in and say something like: "Oh yeah, I know! I'd like to hear the 'Andy is great'- song all the time!" :D
blueguard61 we still haven’t got the full version of that.
Surely, the bridge would've collapsed as soon as Hulk landed on it!
Hulk weighs 1150 lb and he can control his body mass
Wasn't The Great Ambivalence a Doctor Who villain?
Yeap.
Intelligence, but close enough
I'm sure someone else will say this but AC Rogue (PS3 and Xbox 360) came out a the same time as AC Unity (PS4 Xbox One) on the different generations in 2014. AC Black Flag came out a year before on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.
Someone has made a guitar hero clone version of "Literally Everyone Else in the World"
"What would you like to be sung to you by your crew, as you sail the open seas?"
The correct answer was, of course, Bohemian Rhapsody. For shame, Luke!
This video just made me realize "literally everyone else in the world" is amazing, but the show of the weekend theme is the true magnum opus
Ellen desperately trying to move on and Luke harping on about boats is one small reason why I love this.
The British Empire would never had happened if the weather in England wasn't so very awful.
*laughs in Portuguese*
18:25 Show of hands, who else started singing along on reflex alone?
38:00 reminds me of that time in Sea of Thieves, I had enough of it all, so I went all Titanic music band all the way down...
*Ellen listeners to Luke’s new song* 😐
Ambient music community “You have made an enemy today”
Luke’s retirement dream and realisation is one of the most heart warming to tragic moments in OXtra history.
I feel u my man. Keep dreaming and never give up.❤️❤️
0:23 Oh no, the power has gone to Luke's head, theres only one way, *unsheathes sword*
14:12 "Taskmaster...he's got Jobs...to do"
Some might call those... Tasks.
Also, I have to say I'm impressed by Luke's:
A) wingspan. Look, maybe don't spread your arms in the context of discussing elastic-limbed superheroes, though. It might confuse folks. (2:46)
B) vocal range. As a fellow gangly, tall person (not Luke tall, let's be realistic) who sings bass, I felt a certain kinship.
C) ability to actually use the word "ship" instead of "boat" to describe the large sailing vessels he is so fond of. That has been one of my running gripes, and I'm proud of your progress.
My mother grew up on a farm, and she would “cuddle” the baby ducks.
What she actually was doing was crushing them to death as Luke suggested Hulk would.
My grandmother didn’t have the heart to tell her for a time and told her they just got tired.
It was AC Unity that came out at the same time as Rogue; the ending of Rogue leads directly into the beginning of Unity.
Shay was an interesting character, and it was nice to see an AC story from the perspective of the Assassins not necessarily being in right and the Templars not being comedically evil.
I didn't have a PS4 or XB1 at the time, so I was only able to get Rogue. Turns out I lucked out because Rogue was basically Black Flag and worked perfectly whereas we all remember the state of Unity at release!
Seriously Luke you could have got your crew to sing '' Thunder wave''
It could have been perfect!
Fortunately for all your juice-loving needs, that particular enzyme in pineapples is destroyed by heat. So canned pineapple or pasteurised juice won't have that effect.
It's also why you can use crushed fresh pineapple as a meat tenderiser for steak or whatnot, but the same can't be said of canned pineapple.
I was looking for this comment :)
Luke's new follow-up to Spider-Man's "Web." it's The Hulk's new ultimate catchphrase: "Paste."
Hulk's weakness is his irrational rage and lack of control. Luke would be more like She-Hulk.
I don't know if Ellen was misremembering or just had a case of Black Flag on the mind, but Black Flag came out in 2013 for both generations. Rogue came out alongside Unity a year later. Rogue for PS3/360 only and Unity for PS4/XB1 only. Part of the draw for Rogue was the sailing because Black Flag was so popular.
The pineapple juice not being shaken up and still being separated hurt my soul in a way that it really shouldn't have.
I'm literally eating pineapple while watching this. Well, I WAS anyway...
Also, who else needs to hear a full 20+ hour Luke Electronica composition?!!!

I'm really sorry, but I laughed a lot at the art at 33:22. I initially thought it was Ellen striking a pose while wearing men's underpants XD
Rogue was overshadowed by Unity, but whenever people ask about it, I describe it as "assassin switches sides to be a templar" & they're immediately more interested in the game.
Luke's early Gary Numan-esque direction is definitely the way to go.
Edit: anyone young enough to not have a clue who Gary Numan is, I suggest looking up his early work. A pioneer of electronica.
"hulk I'm going to Peru, also I'm changing my clothes and name"
