Third hands are so much handier than some give credit for. I made a few from some old scrap rebar. They have three (somewhat) pointed ends for tilting. Two at the base (feet) and one for the work. You know what's better than a third hand? A fourth, a fifth, a sixth and so on. For those larger projects that need several tack points done at once. This reduces the chances so you don't have to worry about your setup moving/shifting/falling as you move your single extra hand to each tack point.
Just like most other supporting tools needed for metal welding projects. It's always nice/better to have more than one Grinder, holding magnets, clamps, vice grips with various jaws, a drill press vice is also a very handy tool to have around the welding table too... This list could be expanded on so much further.
You can never have enough ways to clamp or hold something! I’m sure I’ll make some more along the way.
