    I'm 230 turns into my latest Rome campaign in DEI and its honestly amazing. It takes Rome 2 from a 'meh' game to a top tier game where each campaign can be 30-60 hours or even more and not get stale once. The only issue I see with this video is that supplies aren't really a problem until you get 2-3 armies camping in a chokepoint or a siege for too long and even then supply takes a while to degrade and you can see its level. So supply depots really are not a vital consideration, plus the farm tier grain depot works fine and doesn't waste a main city slot. Supply SHIPS though absolutely are important if you're a naval power you'll want one per fleet just in case. I've also noticed that sadly the max imperium level still has -15 political party loyalty despite claiming to be -35 loyalty. I was looking forward to a spicy civil war to end my game but I guess I have to force it with some purges :D
    Oh another thing I remembered. Empire maintenance is insanely punishing... for heavens sake don't let it climb above 50% at any point. I give all my admirals maintenance reductive traits as well as my agents which are far easier and more numerous until late game. A few early generals dedicated to more public order, maintenance reduction, culture spread style trait allocations can really smooth out a lot of problems and refine your economy while also ensuring good public order doesn't similarly ruin said economy. And make sure you promote women to rank 4 as each one is -1% empire maintenance. Speaking of agents I have a spy whose trait is +20% army move speed and then the full tree that further buffs move speed... on my faction leader with maxed out move speed traits in a legion with you guessed it move speed legion buffs. That army literally moves like lightning to strike anywhere in the Empire and it's glorious. You get a lot of depth with agents and character skills that can be really useful and fill specific niches to the point where I barely use agents for campaign functions like assassination at all and have been known to invade friendly, subjugated factions simply because they keep parking their version of governors in my territory ruining my nice friendly romanisation efforts with their cultural conversion rates.
    On difficult settings. START the game whatever difficult you want BUT change the battle difficulty manually to normal while in the campaign via the escape menu. Even on just hard difficulty roman legionaries will struggle to kill militia. But thankfully this is the only difficulty setting you can edit in game so you can actually start on any difficulty and change the battles to normal.

    It is a great mod for players who like micromanagement which is what this mod focuses on apart from new units. In vanilla, TW games are meant to be strategy games without micromanagement. This mod not everyone's cup of tea. The level of unnecessary micromanagement in this mod may be very satisfying for hardcore grand strategy players who look for depth like Europa Universalis, but this mod will be too overwhelming for casual players who just want to have a relaxing time with some strategy and historical flavor without having to worry about too many unnecessary things. So that is why these videos are very important to watch to make the decision if this mod is for you or not.

  • @justinlabrosse8506

    I'm nearly in tears.
    I've started as kush and I've finally beat aksum beneath but the empire to the north is sending wave after wave after me. I have a shortage of food and gold; there are constant rebellions and low public order, my men are diseased also, so my population is being decimated by all this.
    I fought off the invaders with my single army for the third time and left with around 1500 men. but now the A.I has sent another army to attack aksum, as I have no one there.
    I want to cry...
    My dream is too take Egypt then eventually move on to Rome, but I don't think we're going to make it out of kush. :(
    I'm just going to have to leave aksum for now and try and muster more forces with mercenaries after a few turns but, without taxes, it will be impossible and by then, the A.i will have sent two more armies.
    Aww I've messed up so bad but I know I can turn it all around just got to hold out. Ha
    I need allies but, nobody wants to trade or even talk without gold. I've sent my spies to keep looking. Hopefully they'll pull through.
    This games awesome with this mod.
    It was already brilliant but now its something else entirely. I actually care more for the political side of things and war becomes the last thing on your mind which is actually paradoxical to the game's premise but its so true. Every decision has minor positives or grave consequences.

      Make sure you beeline your Northern enemies first and put a holding force in the South. Epirus can only attack one or the other settlements down there, but can reach the middle one in a single turns movement so camp outside that city (forget the name) to its South and keep a spy checking if they move fully South and if they do then match them. Take out your northern Itallic foe then turn south and have your full stack join with your now half stack in the South and slog it out against Epirus and the elephant led full stack plus garrison. That's what works for me anyway but do be aware the Ittalic enemy you're at war with will hire mercenaries if you don't first and these are STRONG phalanx hoplites. You will need to outflank them with your javelins there's almost no other way to kill them. Most solid start you can get militarily and economically I'm pretty sure. Oh and if civil wars are an issue (check early) you have 20 turn civil war protection. So save 10,000 denars and change government from Republic to Kingdom around turn 11-15. The massive -20 loyalty and -20 public order to all settlements penalty decays by -2 per turn and you have full 100% civil war protection until turn 20. Cheesy? Perhaps. But if you roll an absolutely trash party with awful stats you may have to invest the early 10k to flip away from the Republics massive loyalty penalty. I think I remember the net gain of going Kingdom was +15 loyalty over republic.

    With 500 hours in Rome 2.
    I played this and its great it took me soooo long just to get out of greece playing as macedon.
    Its crazy unbalanced.
    If 1 factions goes to war with you it just snowballs. You will be at war with so many factions.
    Public order and money are out of balance.
    You can either have constant rebels or be poor depending on what you build.
    I find myself just sitting in my cities with armies waiting 10 to 20 turns just defending while i get enough growth to build a building to have some money.
    Worst part is. Because diplomacy,economy and order are so unbalanced your always at war with everyone and can only afford to feild 2 or 3 armies even if you have 6 plus cities. Even still you will be poor.

    Hey man. I have been posting this on forums but I haven't made any progress so I'll just copy and paste my forum post here in hopes of someone might have an answer or idea.
    I am getting many different visual glitches and bugs after battles. The worst one soft locks the game because I can't press anything. I have tried to do a clean install of the game, deleting the hidden %appdata% folder, deleting all fragments of previous mods I have been using in the past along with all "pak." files, cleaned my Steam download cache and verified the cache many times. And also noticed that I had forgotten to check the Run "movie" and "release" pack mods and Run user script mods options. Checking those and restarted did nothing. I have no clue what would fix this problem as I have done EVERYTHING I can think off.
    I am using the 3 parts of DEI and these Sub Mods and they are in the "correct" order:
    "DeI - Slower Battles"
    "It's a Small World After All"
    "Dresden's Sack, Liberation and Diplomatic Options Mod"
    Help would be VERY much appreciated.

    • @TheTerminatorGaming

      Hi mate! Sorry to hear your troubles with the mod. "It's a small world after all" is not DEI compatible so try it without this one & "Dresden's Sack, Liberation and Diplomatic Options Mod" apparently has a DEI compatible version so make sure you're using that one. If that doesn't work it sounds like it might be an issue on your PC. Make sure all your software has the latest updates? You should definitely join the official discord discord.gg/Wez6GSY, they have a technical section you can ask there as well :) Hope this helps!

      @@TheTerminatorGaming So I didn't conquer enough provinces to upgrade my navy to take on Carthage. So I conquered Sicilly, snuck around to conquer Corsica, while the Carthage navy AI was distracted I rushed troops after 3 failed attempts and burnt Carthage to the ground.
      So far so Scipio- without the navy. However, after conquering Africa the DEI recruitment system means I have no Hastati only low tier mercenaries. No match for swarms of Numideans who kicked me out of Africa. Not only that but Greece was conquered by various celtic tribes and have now taken half of Italia.
      I've basically made Mussolinis empire not Rome lol. Not good enough troops to conquer provinces up north to get better troops via the Imperium System. And with the Celts taking half of Italy- no food & smelly Celts have given my troops plague. 😑

    • @cshelley5658
      @cshelley5658 Před 3 lety

      And the Celts were able to sail over to Italia- because I have no upgraded navy.
      That's the one thing I don't like about DIE system. The Roman army becomes too reliant on Mercenaries. On the other hand DIE unit diversity is so pretty...I keep coming back for more. We've all known a girl like that. Hahaha

    • @TheTerminatorGaming

      Hey bud I’ve seen this and will give you a long thought out answer tomorrow 🙌

    • @TheTerminatorGaming
      @TheTerminatorGaming  Před 3 lety +1

      @@cshelley5658 Alright so first of all, I'll be doing a Rome guide pretty soon (when the next DEI update is out) so that will absolutely help you, but for now here are my thoughts:;
      1. As Rome you need to avoid confrontation with Carthage for as long as possible until you have A. 2 or 3 almost full stack armies (2 should be enough) B. 1-2 decent sized navies (1 should be enough). You don't need to recruit expensive units. Go for mostly auxiliary or early stuff
      2. You need to conquer northern Italy OR Greece. That way you have enough income to fund your armies & navies
      3. As Rome your troops will always be good enough to take on other factions, you just need to know how to use them (take a look at my battle guide for some tips -czcams.com/video/P3gdHhkBfFQ/video.html)
      Now that being said you want to salvage the campaign which while difficult probably isn't impossible. First off you have Africa which is good. Build up Auxiliary barracks in your provinces and start building armies made of auxiliaries there. They should hold against numidians, and if you're having trouble with them rely on a front like of spearmen and archers to take down their cavalry.
      By the sound of things you don't have much control over Italy so don't worry about losing it, but if you can commit 1-2 armies to defending your cities that would be ideal.
      lastly, you need a navy. You won't get anywhere without a navy destroying their navies and armies crossing the various seas. I'm doing a naval battle guide today but what you basically need to do is RAM THEM! Don't bother shooting arrows, going for naval superiority or better units, just get cheap decent units to go ram them.
      Once you've secured Africa a bit more, move some armies over to Italy and recapture lost lands and your golden.
      Hope it works out and let me know if you have any questions!
