Simply stunning bike, a few years ago I had a chance to grab a 999, I had heard people dogging on the 999 that it wasn't as pretty as the previous model and that it was no good.
Until I rode 1, some people buy bikes because they are the fastest at the time or rated the best by motorcycle magazines. However as you get older, you understand that the machine that puts the biggest grin on your face and makes you whoop in your lid is the best motorcycle money can buy.
Ride that puppy until the wheels fall off, then get new shoes and keep riding!

Reason why I love ducati is every part on it is like artwork.
People may not appreciate the bike but you have to appreciate the craftmanship that goes into a ducati

Beautiful bike! I've always been a fan of that bike's headlight setup.
I never understood why people disliked these so much. Makes me almost sad to admit that in a lot of ways this looks much more like a piece of art than the Panigale. Those mirrors and just the general fit and finish are sublime. I guess something was lost in Ducati's drive to be more mainstream and keep prices lower.

NICE! I love my 999. I have never seen another one here in Alaska. People still freak when they see me riding it. At 14 years old it is still a show stopper. Great vid! I only have 7400 miles on mine due to our 3 month riding season.

That mechanic is a keeper. The fact that his own bike is in that great of shape at over 35k miles, says quite a lot.

That thing's in better shape than my one year old 899 lol. I'm kind of ashamed! Nice bike though. Too bad it's so hard to pick up the sound of these bikes on a regular mic. Sounds so much better in person.

+NUCK CHORRIS just putting this out there, I have a group of friends I ride with and one of them is a Ducati sales rep at a local shop and he rides circles around my friend on his 2015 r1. He rides an 899. A rider makes a bike. Not the other way around. Anyone can buy an r1. Few actually can ride it.
FallRider 1997 that guy clearly doesn't even ride or he wouldn't be making such stupid comments. I've owned plenty of liter bikes and get sick of sand-bagging them around everywhere in first gear. Even our track is super small so not very 1000cc friendly. I have a much better time banging gears on my 899 there than any of the "faster" bikes I've owned. I'm actually faster around our local track on my 899 than my '15 S1000RR (impulse bought that in the spring with the intention of replacing my 899 but I've decided to keep both).

I have a 2005 999, sure it may not be the fastest in a straight line but I have no problem keeping up with my friends on their 1000 4's. The thing with this bike though is the way it makes you feel, stunning to look at and amazing to ride. Quite possibly one of the most expensive bikes (relative to bikes of that era) and it shows in the way it is built, especially when parked up next to a newer Ducati. Only negative is the cost of maintenance and spares, although I have had no reliability issues.

Forks are not ohlins, maybe just the springs or sticker ;) 749R came with ohlins forks from the factory...
Maybe he bought ohlins forks and put them on, doesn't mean if it's not R it can't have them

archinuk417 Nope, it is aggressive in the sense but it keeps your back straight and arms and wrists don't get tired surprisingly. My gsxr always had my back hunched over and was less aggressive but i prefer the seating position of the ducati 749/999. The 899 panigale definitely felt way more aggressive when I rode it.
MichaelV Oh okay. Just by how stretched out the tank is and the distance from the seat to the bars, it looks aggressive. I rode the 899 and that was extremely aggressive.
archinuk417 Yea it's definitely not as agressive. It's taller than the 899 for sure but it feel very comfortable. I just got my 999 yesterday and I'm already loving it more than my 2013 gsxr 600.
That loud clicking noise while it is on sounds aweful.. Other than that it's insane
