Easiest way to find a bad wheelbearing is to spin the wheel and put a finger on the spring.
If the spring vibrates the bearing is no good
That's a very good point I forgot all about that!
I find your videos deeply relaxing, no idea why. Almost asmr like?
Glad you like them!
Ah yess. The hillbilly pipe. Very familiar
Sad to hear that Sylvia will left us but it's time to another project. The new owner will enjoy a good car with an amazing restoration job.
Thanks buddy, I hope so!
Patience of a saint with some of these jobs man
I often think that same whilst watching your vids!
I wish I hade a friend same u......to talk and fix our cars......I really like u style
Thanks mate! Very kind!
Beautiful cars! Thanks for sharing all this indformation and experience, invaluable when looking for what problems to adress when looking to buy one of these as I am. Thank you for making this. All the best from Norway! o/ :)
I didn’t realise that the 940 did not have tapered roller bearings on the front like all other cars. I will have to look at mine. When you brought out the long breaker bar, I thought. Bloody Hell! Shouldn’t it be nearly finger tight. Lol
My tiny 2CV has a 44mm hub nut at 250 lb ft! Impossible to undo without a scaffold pole. Now an essential part of my tool box😂
Oh wow, that's some serious torqueage!
Goodbye Sylvia, it's been nice seeing you rise like a Phoenix. Excellent job Sledge, I understand why you can't keep all the cars. I still have the 'live' to watch as I was on holiday at the time.
A bit sad as I know this was your favourite! But there will be more! Thanks 🙂
Sorry to see her going but excited by the idea of a new project...... 360??? 👀😜
I'm on the lookout 😉
Great ingenuity using the breaker bar head and a spanner to connect to the torque wrench, nice. Sad to see the 940 go but you have improved it's chances of staying on the road for a good few years yet. That wheel bearing assembly is great, I used to hate pressing out bearings and then trying to press on new ones.
Thanks! I hope so, let's hope it ends up in the right hands. Me too I've pressed bearings before and it's definitely one of my least favourite jobs 😬
Hey Sledge, great final repair on Sylvia, love the penny trick! I hope u make lots in money on the sale!😉
Thanks mate!
Well done, Sledge. I hope she will find a good home.
Thanks! Me too 🤞
I loved this video. I’ve just been brought here by recommendation from Whiteland Restorations, and it was a good call.
I’m looking forward to binge-watching your content. Keep up the excellent work :-)
Oh thanks for stopping by! And for the kind words! I love the Whitelands
Sad news, it is an impressive machine but these kind of decisions are always depressing aren't they. But you do have two more wonderful Sweed machines! Love the transparent sticker by the way, I reckon you found the exact right placement for it on the rear side glass
Thanks! Can't wait to also fit them to the rear quarter windows on the 240 saloon, I think it'll look great!
Time for an 850!
It's getting closer 😃

@@vulk86 haha, in our dreams!
@@Involvod I have a manual cream yellow estate. Sublime car!
@@vulk86 ok, in my dreams then! 😂 Definitely one to hold on to and never sell
Nice job and geat idea👍👍
Cheers buddy!
Good video, excellent channel! True goldmine, wish I could make this on my own channel! That's why you have a new subscriber from Denmark. Keep doing you!
Thanks! Will subscribe to you also 👍
Awesome tutorial
Thanks mate!
Such a clean car! I hate to see her go too, but you saved it from the trash heap and gave it new life. The next adventure could be just around the corner. 😉
That's exactly it!! Thanks for the sticker order too 🙂

Absolutely, I was waiting for those to be available. 😉😃
Ahh, you could sense from thousands of kilometres away that I was gonna ding you on no safety glasses again :D
I know I'm sorta broken record about it. Even though the healthcare system in Germany is pretty nifty a Doctor's Office visit to remove sharp rust particles is SUBSTANTIALLY more annoying than wearing some safety glasses. (From who knows BTW, it isn't fun.)
I did at least put them on when the grinder came out 🤣
About the destroying money thing, I always wondered if it was illegal but then I thought of those 'souvenir penny' things at museums where it squashes and stamps an emblem onto a 1p coin
That's a good point!
Doesn't destroy em though just stamps em lol, i think they still hold value, whereas destroyed has no more value. Just my guess.
hope you can show ,how to replace valve expansion air conditioner
Maybe some day, the a/c needs repairing on my 740, so we'll see 👍
Will attempt to order an Involvo'd sticker...Etsy knocking me back so far...but...it's done now.....Vancouver Canada 04 XC 70 will soon be INVOLVO"D
Ah glad you managed it, thank you for that I really appreciate it!
Lepo izgleda taj Volvo
Thanks 👍
It worked
As usual the Brit Expat has come up with a poor man’s solution!
Brilliant poor man.
Whatcha gowna git next?
Haha, no idea 😃
I was thinking you might say the torque wrench does not go up high enough as the 3/8" drive ones don't go as high as the 1/2".
Good point! Luckily it's max setting was 100nm!
bye sylvia :) looking forward to your next project.
Maybe something older? An 145 or even amazon or P444?
Would love to! Let me know if you find any good deals over in the West!
That's the one you should be keeping.
Vi ste posvećeni maksimalno Volvo vozilima
Great vid I need to do the same on my 940 where did you get the part from? Or what make was it? Thanks
Get yourself a electric windy gun, very useful for stuck on bolts.
Bit of an old video, but im doing the rotors/pads and wheel studs/lug nuts in my '90 760T sedan. Will i be able to re-use the hub? I have to pull it off to get the wheel studs off/on according to people in the facebook volvo group. If it isnt reusable i may just order the hubs as im doing all 20
Coins are lost and damaged all the time, who would give a toss if it was illegal hehe. Great fix fella, how much more straight forward are those bearings compared to push in types. If I lived nearby I would have bought her!
I was so surprised at how simple and nice they are to do, even for an old Redblock Volvo! Would love to sell her to you mate
Sad to see your selling the 940 but understand why. How about a 780! Would love a petrol turbo model with cream leather.
Will this hub assy for the 1985 volvo 760? Online part website says it fits only 1989 + models but I have a feeling it would fit 1985 as well. Any ideas anyone?
Ah yes, the most fun you can have fixing a car, dreaded wheel bearings.
🤣🤣🤣
I was wondering does facelifted 960/ 960 ii model have a same mounting as the 940 91?, Changing the fender, bumper, grill headlamp, bonnet? Is it possible?
I'm not sure tbh! There's a guy call @Driveway Ninja on Instagram that likes to front end swap Volvos, he might know!
I need u help.i have volvo 245 combi 92..Wien I try to stop The Window vaser it still going. Can not stop it...I changed The interval relä..did not work..can u help a stupid swede???what do u think is The problem
I mean what would go wrong if you pulled a little bit harder?
innit 💕💕💕💕💕💕
Aww shame it's a really good looking motor.
It is, very smart, I do like a silver wagon
Sledge, are you thinking of getting an XC90 by any chance? 🙂
Haha, good one 😃
I would sell the 740 wagon and keep this one.
But that's just me.
I used each one as the daily driver for a couple weeks each, for some reason I prefer the 740 100x more and I can't explain why! Just feels more special somehow 🤔
@@Involvod I understand. We can't keep them all. Some of them we have to "catch and release"!
@@Schwedenstahl245 exactly, someone is going to love it more than me
If that was me, i would have packed grease all over 😬
Bad luck with the coins, maybe try crypto currency next time 👍
WRONG its cents not pennies
