  • In this episode I join Ryan from 4x4ventures and his mate John on a trip to Mana Pools in Zimbabwe and use the New Defender on a proper trip for the first time.
I show you the road conditions and we stay at Antelope park as well as Chitake with its super pride of 22 lions that keep us on edge in the Mana Pools National park.
Thank you also to Ryan and John for their contributions in the way of footage for this video.
    And thank you for watching.

The one country that has so much to offer and see is Zimbabwe. Real bush and real wild raw nature as it should be . Chitake is wild and scary. The lions are savage and not to be taken lightly . Never venture at night . There is a tree with a plaque of the tourist who was taken by lions some years ago . But it’s an amazing place but has a unmistakable spooky feeling . Mana is another special place “ Garden of Eden I” I call it . A heavenly place with amazing light and unique trees and raw bush . No modern facilities like Kruger. This is what makes Mana , Chitake and Zimbabwe so different from anything you will find in Africa. My home , I have photographed and explored these areas many times over my lifetime. Thanks for supporting our country and giving it the credit it deserves. 👍👏👏🙏🏻

🥲ndatenda shua shamwari What a special trip down memory lane for me! I immigrated to BC Canada from Zim in 2000, went back briefly in 2005 and since been living in Canada with “another country in my eyes” as Mango Groove sings about. Brought tears as you drove across the Limpopo River (thanks for being sneaky 😉) and then just floods of memories in all senses as I relived Lion and Elephant, all the feelings of the drive. So beautifully put “moving art” and was such magic to be along in spirit as you ventured down the escarpment into the Zambezi valley. Hearing the lions reminded me of a trip my family and friends took to Tuli where there were lions around… was a bad idea for me to watch Ghost in the Darkness (movie about famous man eating lions) before the trip! 😅
Anyway cheers 🍻 to you Bruce and other travel mates and cheers to your wife 🍻 for approving the trip that created this video! ✨

At Angwa river turn we were advised that er could not pass as the road was flooded. Had to continue to Harare after driving though waist deen water at Mashumbi pools as the river had burst its banks. Bro this was an awesome watch!!! Thank you from a homesick zimbo! I was very facinated by the history lesson on those vicounts! I've driven past them dozens of times and always wondered about them. Very interesting to see that the aircraft was sporting bare polished aluminium when it flew for air Rhodesia. Possible 'camoflage' as the guerilla forces were in the habit of shooting down civilian aircraft at this time.

Well done to you and the team on the brilliant footage. So glad to see that The border went so well, definitely a factor which has been slowing my next visit. Those Zim trees and bush are magnificent, thanks for sharing and reminding. The lion choir must have been amazing… looking forward to the next episode. Ps, loved the music with the Ellie clip 👏👏
