  • Our road trip around Zimbabwe - Last summer I got to take Dan back to my beautiful home country for the first time. It was so good to be back home after 11 years, and we were so inspired by Zimbabwe's natural beauty, and traditional crafts.
Soundtrack composed and produced by Dan, featuring live vocal performances from Zimbabwe.

I grew up in Northern Ontario, Canada and I've always felt like I've been missing a part of myself. My father wasn't in the picture so I was raised by my white mother. Being in a predominantly white community, I also never knew any black people growing up and I felt very uncomfortable with my appearance because the beauty standards were white. I hope one day I'll get to visit Ghana and specifically the village where my dad is from. This video is beautiful, I only hope my return to Africa will be as wonderful

You will not be disappointed. Africa is magnificent. The people are wonderful. I've lived my whole life in Southern Africa, except going back to my ancestral roots in the UK for 3 years. A good experience which only made me appreciate living in Africa even more. Do some living in Africa mate.

I feel you, I'm mixed too and lived in a area where besides me there was only 4 other black people and 2 of them where my siblings, in school bullying usually hit the people that stand out and I was bullied like crazy for being darker skinned, my mom was in Zimbabwe trying to collect money to go get me and my siblings back from my dad, I ended up going to her in Zimbabwe and loved it, I felt so at home. Meeting my grandparents was out of this world, I met my grandmother for the first time since I was born. I literally cried like crazy. If you get the chance GO! I learnt so much about my country/culture/history.

Its nice to see a happy Zimbabwean among the perenially bitter lot on the internet who makes us feel like its a sin to be proud of your country. I have always been proud of my culture and roots, doing the best I can to portray the positives. Culture is a separate thing from the Economy and Politics. Loving your culture/roots doesn't mean you also love the politics.Culture is who you are, where you come from, your motherland, identity and roots. You cannot wash away your Zimbabweanness. People will always ask you where you are from, and your conscience will give in. Because how long can a man pretend to be what he is not.

Wonderful landscapes, one of the seven wonders of the world, almost perfect weather to die for, wildlife etc. Only if our people can learn that is better to work together than separate. Foreigners who see our country probably wonder why we leave such an amazing country. Such is life, we all have to eat. Beautiful story telling, you invited every Zimbabwean to fall in love with our country again and others to see how beautiful our Zimbabwe - the house of stones really is. OMG the photo of you in the snow! I know that exact feeling, my mum took a photo of me and I was 8. First time I’d ever seen snow in my life. I too am a Zim chick. I came to England when I’d just turned 8, just me and my brother, to be with our mum. This video has honestly been soo wholesome 🥹🫶🏾

I never imaged it was so beautiful! As an Afro American, my husband and I were looking to go to South Africa as our first trip to the continent. We are now considering Zimbabwe. In addition we did not know Vic Falls border that country, which is added bonus. We just need to figure out room, transport costs, etc. if possible could you post your complete itinerary used? It would be helpful. Do you recommend any travel agent we could use?

*WHAT A GREAT VIDEO OF YOUR RETURN TO ZIMBABWE* Thanks for sharing it with us all.
And, may I congratulate you on beautifully spoken presentation.
Victoria Falls is best appreciated from the Zimbabwean side.
Did you know Michael Jackson, Oprah Winfrey & Elizabeth Taylor visited The Victoria Falls and sampled the most beautiful & delightful hotels at The Vic. Falls.
This video is so professionally done - not over the top & very gently & pleasantly narrated.
Thank you. I'll be passing it onto many other Zimbos in the diaspora. I read some of the posts and felt the emotions well up.
      Thank you once again.👌😢.

When you visit Zimbabwe l also recommend you go to the eastern veld so chimanimani, nyanga or mutarazi. Great Zimbabwe, chinhoyi caves and matopos. Not forgetting the safaris. You will love it, it’s a gorgeous country

Yes, they are beautiful tourist spots, I've holidayed at all those places when I lived in Zim.
Snap!! Was also born in Masvingo/Fort Vic.many moons ago, but just like millions of other Zimbos, I left for greener pastures at the height of the political & economic turmoil decades ago & have no intentions of returning anytime soon. I've moved on - sadly.
But wish the best for all left behind.
I spoke to someone recently who visited Zim., & was told things have deteriorated very much in all spheres - sadly 😔😪.

Powerful video. You do a great honor to your heritage and country through this video. When you took the red clay from your country and used it to design your cup it brought tears of meaning to my eyes. Very beautiful piece and even more inspiring, the artist herself. It made me think of the Bible verse, “Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” What a soul you have, -j

Beauty comes in different forms. It’s just different type of beauty… Peak District, Lake District, Cotswold District, Camber Sands & Cornwall. Scotland has its charms and gems too but in any event Scotland is not in England. Then ofcourse the rolling hills of Wales with its green valleys.

I just got recommended your channel and I‘m in awe. Your storytelling and cinematography is just magnificent. Your family’s house reminds me of a house I stayed at in Namibia when I lived there for a while. This video really makes me want to return to Africa and experience more of the beautiful landscape and culture. So nostalgic.
