    Steve Stevens is one of my favorite guitarists. I love his chorus, bends and modulations. He knows when to sit back in a mix and when to jump upfront. A perfect example would be on Billy Idol's "Flesh for fantasy".

    I stated on another video that i helped install the guardrail on Cabbage Hill, i can remember about every foot of guardrail we installed, working 6 , 10 hr days. Going up the Hill in the morning with a nice cool breeze, seeing an occasional deer on the side hills. It was pretty exciting, getting ready for work early in the coolness of the morning. Then, by 9 Am we were in the sun from then, until the time we went home. One of the guys had sunburn on his face so bad he had to tear his sandwich into pieces to eat it. This was during the hottest time of the year summer time. Thanks for the great video brings back lots of memories.

    I know it may sound a tad weird at first, but if you ever saw pics of southeast Ireland outside of Kilkenny along the roads that way, driving I-84 through this part of Oregon reminds me of the countryside outside of Kilkenny, Ireland. Plus also the Wicklow Mountains(which are between there and Dublin), where I took a side trip to while I did a trip to Dublin this past summer. BTW, am talking about the part of this video from 1:30 to 4:30.
    I'd love to get to that part of northeast Oregon and also into Idaho, someday. The scenery in that part of the US always seemed like a bucket list place, I need to visit someday. May be belated I've been quietly catching up on all your Portland and Oregon state videos this late, but they've all been amazing. Can't wait to see where you do travel to in 2018, take care.

    The real "Old Oregon Trail Highway" was US-30, a paved, curvy, 2-lane highway which
    served for many decades. Parts of it still exist, parts near the Columbia have been
    submerged. The historic Union Pacific Railroad also generally follows this route.

      Funny you compared this stretch of I-84 to Scotland. I guess I'm not so crazy comparing the hilly scenery from 1:30 onward to Ireland, after all! I have not been to Scotland yet, just Ireland and Northern Ireland(part of the UK, and I also did a side trip up to here on my Dublin trip this past summer) so far of those 2 places. And from pics I've seen of Scotland, it does remind me of the scenery of Ireland a lot. Someday I'll need to travel to this part of northeast Oregon, and hopefully also east into Idaho as well.

  • @KCWanderlust

    I have so many memories of this area, Jim. At a truckstop called "Arrowhead Travel Plaza", just as you descend the hill (heading west), they had something called the "Ahful burger" in their cool, rustic restaurant. I used to stop in without fail every time I drove through. Had I had my druthers (what exactly ARE druthers, anyway?) I would have asked for the recipe of that burger. It was AMAZING! But having no way of knowing that in 20 years, there'd be something called You Tube, and also not knowing that I'd have a BBQ channel on this thing called you tube, I didn't ask. There was nothing "awful" about that burger, and I'd love to re-create it!

Since you started I-84 in Oregon in mile markers 209 to 231, I wonder what would the expansion and remix look like to see which one is better for me. I can't wait to see the remix with an expansion for a few hours.

    • @Freewayjim
      @Freewayjim  Před 3 lety

      I actually start on the road at the exit before I get on to I-84 so there is a little more on the front end than the original, the remix will definitely visually look better because 16-31 was done a few months before my cataract surgery so looking at it now, I can tell a huge difference, I also think the new soundtrack works better, hope you like it.
