I’m not mad at the other queens being surprised or making jokes (including Ru), I’m kinda mad at the fact that production just keeps on rubbing onto all our faces that she’s straight even though Maddy herself clearly doesn’t want that. The whole point of what we do as queer people is to progress society into one where it doesn’t matter at all, and the fact that the production behind the most influential queer TV show in history is doing the opposite just because the recipient is cishet just irks me a lot

Angeria acting like it was new for a straight drag queen to exsist was dumb, bob the drag queen and monet literally on their podcast said its not new and the fandom is so toxic. Maddy is a great ally, why cant we support her instead of the producers profiting off the hate. Shady noises, set ups, and edits are ruining this show.

For a show that often sheds a negative light on outing peoples identities this one struck a chord with me, like I didn’t like how Ru walks in and just blabs it to the whole room instead of letting Maddy tell everyone herself when she was ready. Then how she followed it up with “oh I’m gonna make a joke to smooth it over.” And just made this moment even more cringe worthy.
Not only was outing Maddy very disrespectful but if they had just let her come out on her own, that would’ve sat a lot better with viewers and been better television. But production clearly wanted to write the narrative of how they didn’t like having straight people doing drag and they kinda threw jasmine at her the episode she went home. Hence why that untucked beef seemed very produced and forced.
They even had drag race alumni talking shit about her outside of the show, on the pit stop (violet) and in the viewing parties (Naysha) Rupaul is making it very clear that he doesn’t want straight drag queens on the cast so he made an example of Maddy so that any others would be discouraged from auditioning.

@@Stephh99This is late but the thing is that outing a gay, bi or trans person holds its own meaning and significance. We still live in a world where it is very dangerous to be LGBT, especially in some areas and countries where it is acceptable to kill them. So, when outing a LGBTQ+ person, you are potentially sentencing them to extreme harassment, bullying, abuse and even death. The same can't be said for a straight cis person, since being straight and cis is viewed as normal and no one would kill or hurt someone for it. Though of course, I personally believe that Maddie may be in a bit of a threat, but not for being straight, for being a drag queen. Drag queens are assumed to be gay men, so Maddie may be in danger of harassment from homophobes and transphobes. However, outing her to gay men won't have many serious consequences, besides a few terrible bad taste jokes. It's a false equivalence basically.

@@nicolas2452 Some people only understand when they feel the situation in their own skin. I guarantee you that a lot of straight people who are bothered by the scene might reconsider their actions when they come across this situation in their lives because a straight person was put on the same situation, but if that wouldn't have happened they would probably say that we're being sensitive about it. But hey we all have our own opinions. And at the end of the day even though Maddy was uncomfortable, she had absolutely zero repercussion from being"outed as straight" which is not the case for us in almost 90% of the cases we have to"come out" in our lives.

Yeah of course, because they have the privilege of being straight. They get a pass for doing this stuff, even in times when it was far less mainstream, because homophobes don't actually feel threatened by it. It's just an act, don't worry, he still sleeps with women like a good normal man at the end of the day.
