Jeremy is back with a new Finger Bang Tip of the Day. This episode is all about filling in the blanks. That is to say, playing Hi-Hats in the silent space between the sounds of your Bass Drums and Snares/Sticks. As always, we're going to do tons of variations and switch the hands back and forth. Make sure you check jeremyellislive for some additional information on this tutorial.

I actually really like how you don't spell it out. Forces you to actually pay attention and learn by trying it out.
I watched your hands and tried it for myself. By doing this I learned a lot about the hand positions and what the different hand positions make easier/harder ...
After practising a bunch I came back and read the full description to make sure I didn't miss anything important.
Its better to learn by doing than having someone tell you what to do.

@monkprophet Totally agree. Just got a new macbook pro and have been playing around in imovie, which has helped in getting these videos out quickly and efficiently. I'll play around with some more angles and export settings, and bust out my other camera for future vids. For the time being, you can get more advice on this lesson at my facebook page; jeremyellislive. Check this videos drop down info box for the link to this page. Thanks for watching again, monkprophet!

Love that this comment is from Fel! You know what's up now, right? Just because I didn't say anything in this one doesn't mean I didn't break it down by playing all the parts individually and then together. But you know that because you're a lot better than you were a year ago when you left this comment! Oh shit, just noticed that your new video uses this exact rhythmic pattern:) I kid because I love. Good luck with your move and your music!

Thanks again Jeremy for uploading. Around 1:30, when you play the pattern with just one hand is both impressive and confusing. These last sessions with the maschine (seems very sensitive) are more blurred than the previous set of videos (MPD 24 or 26) which were shot from the top down. While I imagine that setup is more work, it produces more stable and clear images that help clarify the pattern regardless of finger. It's an unfortunate tradeoff. Thanks for being a tutor and inspiration!

@jeremyellismusic I'm awaiting an Akai LPD8 in the mail tomorrow. For the time being it's all I can afford. While I have an MPK61, it's not always quick and easy with my current setup for practicing. Hopefully the LPD8 will be good enough (definitely portable enough) to use here and there and with my iPad for practice. Checked out your facebook page. Will keep up on the tips.
