Their guitarist with the snapback looks like that kind of friend that would push you to do dumb stuff, then hangs out to drink with you at night and tell you things that would make you think about positive things
Holy shit Joe is absolutely KILLING it in the end, that was some Built to Spill level guitar-vaganza right there. Chrissy was awesome as well, bit of a weird choice going for the lower strings for the solo as it sounded a little muddled but cool nonetheless.

Is that the lyric? If so, what on earth does that mean!?!
My interpretation is that an open field refers to the battlefield and upon that field any man can be judged guilty and die.
The song is about the First world war. I forget who that quote is attributed to, but its something like in an artillery barrage innocence doesnt matter. "Of course I am for peace, the one that suits me." is what the Kaiser said when asked if he was for a peace agreement.
I always imagined it to mean, like, in the grand scheme of nature with all things accounted for (in an open field), humanity bears the full responsibility for the cruelty and evil we inflict on the world and each other, and we individually and as a species are to blame for the destruction our wars and industry and general short-sighted selfishness cause. What makes it so like doubly ironically delicious in the context of the song is that what would otherwise be a humbling acknowledgement of culpability seems to be used by one character as justification for more and greater violence. I love this song so much. She's such a genius.
