" _your father is a good man, but he just doesn't understand Thanksgiving_ "
😂😂😂😭
@@Stevie-J .....yep that's the entire point
Wait... I’m thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving?? Uhhhhh…no thanks!!
This is my favorite infomercial hands down. It checks every box of 90s movie cliches. The opening music, the premise of the wish, the bully who is also inexplicably the friend because they couldn’t cast two kids, the immediate doctors visit, the off-screen wipeout in front of extras in bikinis, even the music they play every time they reveal his transformation. The one thing that kills me is how the son is clearly in 6th or 7th grade but doesn’t know the names of every state?
You probably were not alive in the 90s
@@kidkique no YOU probably were not alive in the 90s
this is much more early 2000s, not 90s, it has a 90s vibe but the designs are similar to shrek, the large amount of black with a small title, a dreamworks ish title
@@GoldenPantaloons no BOTH OF YOU weren't alive when I was alive. you can see from the newspaper at 0:37 using neural net technologies to analyze the writing style, layout decisions, and image types on the front page, cloud computing was able to figure out that it was infact the 90's it said "look at the curly telephone cables and desktop PC dumbass" whatever that is
I've always said that Ted Apples is one of the most underrated actors. This really shows his range. Just amazing!
We love his movies in my house, i grew up with them. We watch them every holiday or reunion , we have the saying an "apple a day keeps the children gay" classic. Its so nostalgic and still funny in 2022.
@@thehonorablereverendaddiso1943 Why is children being happy gross and inappropriate?
Yes! He had to go through so much makeup for that plants daddy role he is my inspiratio
Sliders forever.
How do you like Ted Apples!?
I love how the kids trying not to laugh at 8:40 lol
Good catch I never noticed it till the second time viewing it haha
I was focused on the dad
"You should have stayed a piece of gum... on the bottom... of a shoe..." I didn't expect Perd Hapley to hurt my feelings, but here we are.
Perd's a great actor, ya heard?
His delivery was unreal. If he has an acting reel I hope that’s on there. So sinister.
"Sir, I'm gonna need you to step out of the car."
"HOW?!"
that was funny
At 1:31, when Cool Dad pulls out his nerf gun, he produces a Nerf Strongarm from 2013, yet the time period portrayed is clearly that of the late 80's early 90s. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is a time traveling nerf gun or something? Ha ha, boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
criminally underrated comment
Whenever you see something like that, a wizard did it.
Thought the same when I saw the stainless steel appliances. I also couldn't find a mouth/speaker for Mr Apples voice on the plant. Its infuriating and I want my money back and my popcorn is cold and I have a pebble lodged in the my flip flop sandal that can't get out. Does any one have a paperclip I can mutilated to bust it out? I can't promise I'll return it but I promise not to proofread this youtube comment for maximum Sunday Father Days effieciencies
Let me ask you a question: why would a poster whose username is “slopeslider90” spend all his time watching [Adult Swim] informercials?
Grandma got turned into a futuristic nerf gun after another wish gone awry. You’d know that if you had seen the prequel
I can't wait to rent this from my local Blockbuster
lol
Did you rent Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi Special Edition (1983/1997) on VHS at Blockbuster Video?
you guys still have blockbuster?
@@isaiahwalking The only Blockbuster Video location is in Bend, Oregon.
I’ve got some bad news for you Howl
The mom was incredible. Her facial expressions while she was drinking her husband pulled me in and wouldn't let me go.
uh excuse me, that was her STEP-husband
it's up there with the end of It's Not Jackie Chan
that is what all of them do with husbands, am I right?
Her facial expressions and the close up they did on her face.
“he was her cup of coffee”
YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED A PIECE OF GUM UNDER THE SHOE GARY
The only thing missing is that early 90's kid's movie lighting where everything was soft and incredibly goldenrod.
I never knew how to articulate this until now, but yeah, that is absolutely how those movies looked.
@@0supermoose804 honestly took me forever to put the words to it. How do you portray youth, innocence and nostalgia? Imply sunrise. How do you signal that even though the old theater may have been bought, the memories you and your magic subject of the movie character made that summer will live forever? Imply sunset.
@@xXMapleVodkaXx wow....that got me in the feels.
As the dad's life unravels, we feel for his plight, but the immediate emotion is too strong for us to find a villain- it's certain that he did not deserve this fate, but who put him to it? The child's standoffish behavior as Dad tries to convince him to wish things better gives us a dead-on hint, but it's really what comes later that makes this clear. The child wishes immediately to "never see [the Dad] again," sealing his fate.
Later, we see the Child with a new dad- a Step Dad as it were. He seems kind, paternal, and has a very trustworthy mustache, the kind you'd see on a good cop of this time period. It's another one of the Child's birthdays, so Step Dad attempts to have a more deep and emotional talk about the nature of the Step Dad, and how much he really does love him. What does the Child do?
This sociopath, this demon, this subhuman amalgamation of filth undeserving of oxygen, the Child refuses any sort of input and wishes without *hesitation* to turn the father into a cup of coffee. Why? There is no reason. The malice on the child's face says it all, there is no soul behind that expression. The plot immediately reveals itself, the villain becomes clear- this was never about the Dad, he was simply an unfortunate victim of Satan himself appearing on earth as this Child, with the power of wishes. Dad was never meant to learn any lessons or become a better father, all of the Child's actions were purely malicious, watching Dad suffer until he became a weak plaything. This could also explain the Child's unending youth, despite apparently numerous birthdays. And now, the Devil is unsatisfied with Step Dad and immediately wishes him away into coffee. It is absolutely infuriating, especially for those who have tried a step father- I have not, but I assume? There is not words in the human lexicon to describe how much of a selfish fiend this Child is at all times, especially considering the Dad was the one being called selfish.
And to what end? Mother walks in, who was mainly a side character up to this point, and goes to drink Step Dad coffee. The Child feigns humanity and tells Mother to wait. But he's smiling. There is no intent behind the Devil's actions now. Drinking Step Dad IS the end goal, but he needs some sort of alibi in case his inhuman demeanor is suspect. Thus, he makes no further attempts to stop her, watching presumably in delight as Step Dad is imbibed in the form of coffee.
No mortal was meant to wield the power of wishes, and this form of Satan himself was manifested to make that clear.
Well - thanks for the long text, so I dont have to. I go along with your interpretation till the coffee-scene - wherein I see the evil in the complex of realtionship of the familiy, a bit more centered on mother and son - and therein more centered on the mom, who got the last authority.
In the scene I do not see malicious expressions of the kid, after she silenenced him. Instead he seems to be concerned to me, as she 'consumes' the next husband. But back to the beginning to close the circle. The original dad indeed seems to be "selfcentered" and missed to fullfill his familiar obligations. There is no need for examples, what he alone could have done better. In my opinion, the basic realtionship between mom and dad seems to be doomed to fail. In the plant-dad-scene as the mother complained they would have grown apart, I saw the hint, that each member of the family doesnt understand the problems of the others.
These grotesque adult swim infomercials are examples of how-to-fail for me. - Therefor I am very thankful.
This kid reminds me of the monster kid from it's a good life episode in the original twilight zone
One of the greatest Adult Swim Infomercials ever.
It would be a dream come true if they made "Cool Dad" into a full length movie!
Agreed!
Isnt that the kind of movie with jim carrey in it?
I would actually watch this if it was a real movie
This was the movie so...congrats
I wouldn't, it looks goddawful lol. But it's a funny joke.
@@johnnyjohnny2650 this was movies in the 80s and early 90s
@@genlaz1 Oh, I'm well aware. I watched plenty in the 80s and 90s and they were all pretty godawful.

Hope we get Planty Daddy for Multiversus
One of the greatest Adult Swim Infomercials of all time, along with Too Many Cooks.
*YOUR FATHER IS A GOOD MAN*
Maybe the real dad was the friends we made along the way.
Remember that episode of The Twilight Zone where the people of the town were held hostage by an omnipotent mind reading boy? This is the origin story of that.
It’s a real good thing. A fine thing indeed Anthony!
it was in the movie too
"This defies no medical logic" Doctor was ready this time 😅
Funny, sad, beautiful, and brilliant! Best Infomercial you ever made, and a great performance from Jerry O'Connell, well.done, Adult Swim!
Some of his best work just under Sliders heh heh.
You can hear the coffee screaming after every sip 😆
Oh That’s what that was!
I feel like Rob Schneider did all of these.
Rob Schneider is...A CARROT!!!!
"Err I'm a carrot!"
It's 24 CARROT comedy!
RATED P-G-THIRTEEN!
Rob Schneider is an hero
What? no...
Audiences would have to believe that a woman would want to have a child with Rob Schneider. I mean there's fantasy and there's just absurdity.
Would you accept Tim Allen in The Shaggy Dog and The Santa Claus?
The kid is the real villain here.
“It’s called photosynthesis, Catharine!” Got me😂😂
Reminds me of Liar Liar with Jim Carrey. Ah the good old days
That’s exactly what this is lol
It reminds you of the thing it’s parodying? That’s truly remarkable. Thanks for sharing.
I love that Kevin Butler plays the doctor. XD
This is definitely one of the movies ever made!
please keep uploading the infomercials! i love them
Commercial in 2000's in a nutshell
Yes, that was im fact the joke. Good job. You recognized a basic pattern. You're officially smarter than a bag of hammers. I'm sure everyone will be very proud of you, especially your parents, who have probably been worried sick about your intelligence and how you'll have to take care of yourself.

The screaming coffee is so Twin Peaks. Josie doorknob level stuff.
LMAO, what a twist. I struggled to watch the first few and then it got hilarious
So glad they're still doing these after all these years. Even though their hit or miss
Best Season of Sliders EVER!!!
It looks like opening previews in the VHS release of any movie.
This is literally the plot of Liar Liar and i love it lol
No it isnt💀💀💀💀💀💀
Liar Liar with hints of The Shaggy Dog and Ghost Dad.
My favorite part was when he said: "I'm thanksgiving" bro i really felt that
Every 90s film into one short. Good one!
“You should’ve stayed a piece of gum at the bottom of his shoe”
Adult swim making a comeback with this new material!
that music hit when he opens the fridge is goddamn perfect
The opening scene of 'Officer Dad' looks like a genuine Spielberg sequence. Amazing work!
I'm getting Saul Goodman vibes from Ted Apples
I just realized that the boss and doctor are both from the channel 7 bloopers skit
I'd easily watch an entire movie of this
This is great, every movie in the 90s was like this with their trailers. I'm DYING of laughter.
Flashbacks lol
Nailed the visuals here
Omg I loved this. I had no idea how long it was when I put it on and it just. kept. going.
It's like an infinite reality thing. What a trip
I love how it catches those early 2000s VHS Vibes
Never would I have thought that I'd see Perd Hapley and Quinn Mallory in the same thing together.
I hope you upload all the infomercials.
I’m cracking up. This so the movies of my childhood. Especially when the music kicks in 🤣🤣🤣
Can’t wait for the full length feature film, I need closure
This summarised every movie I grew up with
Being a cool dad myself I can attest to the veracity of what has been shown in this video. Houston, we have no problemo.
Jerry O'Connell is relevant again! It's been so long since Sliders.
So definitely Liar Liar, a little bit The Santa Clause and Hook in that the dad was disappointing the kid/kids and gets to be something magical. Some title cards from Kindergarden Cop and Mr. Nanny... voila. I like it
Little but of 3 Ninjas in the intro.
Morel of the story: Don't take wishes for granted. Especially not birthday wishes...
I love how this sketch is split between chapters
Get a load of the grinch who stole thanksgiving!
Who casually drinks a half gallon of milk?
I almost can't believe how funny this is
I think you topped "Too Many Cooks."
I understand that the root of all evil is the father, but his family members all seem to be the worst of the worst.
I felt that this is the dark side of the family that exists everywhere in the world.
I felt depressed watching it myself.
It's not that deep, it's a joke about ridiculous movies they used to make here in the states in the early 2000's. They were messed up in a lot of ways.😆
I never caught this one in it's entirety, appreciate
Adam Sandler barely managing to finish writing down the last idea before this gives him a new one
Ted Apples has been saving us all from the monstrous threat of his wish-making son. Now that this omnipotent boy is no longer focused on fixing his dad`s failings, what is he going to wish for? What twisted desire would he wish to fulfil? Is anybody going to be safe? Ted Apples was the only thing that stood between this world and unfathomable chaos.
It's like that twilight zone episode
IT'S CALLED PHOTOSYNTHESIS KATHERINE!
Jerry O’Connell is a national treasure.
I love that someone was apparently paid to jiggle a plant around.
ya heard with perd, the playstation guy, and ted apples. this has it all!
I can't believe they got the anchors from Your 7 News to star in these!
I'm just gonna say it. Cool Dad is better than Too Many Cooks. It's the bad audio when he's a house plant that gets me every time.
I love how the plant shakes vigorously everytime he talks.
I think the plant was supposed to be him
This commercial was almost lost media, but was preserved on a bootleg vhs recording of an episode of Too Many Cooks.
Make it 4:3 aspect ratio to get the 90's VHS aesthetic perfect.
This is Gold, Jerry! Gold
Wow. I was not expecting that ending.
That's way too accurate to what I remember the trailers on vhs tapes being like.
this just wrapped my brain around a lamp pole
Myy secret identity! I thought that guy was Brendan Fraser for a little while.
Infomercials is the best thing on Adult Swim
Even the credits like @2:04 have the right amount of VHS fuzz to make it authentic.
The funniest lines are Coming soon on "video cassette".
I would watch all these movies.
Plant Dad looks Oscar worthy! 💯
I would unironically watch these
"it's called photosynthesis CATHERINE" dead
I'm going to start yelling this about everything now.😂🤣😂🤣🤣
What an absolute banger.
these are all gold
As a Gen X, I would watch ALL of these movies. Ahh nostalgia
As a cooler Gen X, I knew that watching the trailers and sarcastically making fun of those movies was the right thing to do. Nostalgia is lame.
Yup. Still got it. 😎 🙄
