Pancreas is an important organ in our body. It is also an organ where the insulin production happens. That is why any problem in the pancreas will have few of these signs. The first sign is patient will have pain. Pain is above naval part and it can be mild. Sometimes it can be very severe and this pain can go back to the back. One is abdominal pain and second is back pain. Third sign they may develop diabetes because of the increase in the insulin production. If there is a recent damage to the diabetes. Number 4, is pancreas produces lot of pancreatic juices, which are very important for digestion especially the fat. The fourth thing is they start to develop weight loss because of malabsorption. Number 5 these patient can present with greasy or oily stools. These are the signs that there are pancreas problems. There is a sixth sign that is they develop jaundice also and can develop jaundice. Is pancreatitis life-threatening? Not at all, almost 60 to 70 % of the population will be mild, 20% will be moderate, 5% will have severe pancreatitis.

I am 21 yrs old recently suffering from acute pancreatitis… whatever you do DO NOT EAT FOOD! Your body cannot digest it you need to be on a clear liquid diet anywhere from 1-2 weeks, yes you will feel hungry but it is normal your pancreas needs a break and needs to be cleansed. I just want to share this because I genuinely was terrified for my life so please I’m no doctor but this has helped me. It’s been a week like this already and I’m making some recovery.

I have chronic pancreatitis for about 10 years. Here are some tips from me to you who maybe facing the same problem.
1) Stop eating until it gets better it's like a red alert. Especially if you are having serious insane pain like me. When the pain start to lessen day by day (it may take 4-5 days) you may start taking water then healthy drinks then soft food like fruits.
2) If the pain is too much for you, take a pain killer with doctors approval then lay on your bed like dead fish better if you can go to sleep. When the pain starts to show up again take the pain killer again keep that up it takes 4 days for me to recover.
I'll write some more have to go for now. Somebody remind me if i don't

My mother in law got severe acute necrotising pancreatitis.. the exact same symptoms and turn of events happened. She got hospitalized and within 1.5 month she was dead. She had to be put on be ventilator and dialisis. Had developed multi organ failure due to septic shock because of the necrotic tissue.

I’m having severe discomfort In my upper abdomen, and lower back severe dull ache that radiates up and down my back 😭 I’m scared now that something serious could be going on with my pancreas but then again not to long ago I got and abdominal ultrasound that showed my liver was enlarged 18 cm I’m not a drinker at all and my doctor didn’t tell me if it was a fatty liver or not smh now my mind is all over the place and also the tech just said on my report of ultrasound that she only saw the head of my pancreas but not the body or tail I have an up coming appointment with my pcp so hopefully she does something to help me figure out what’s wrong with me 😩
Hope your doing better sweetheart. Now if you start getting a loss of appetite like me then you should be concerned but I don't think you have that. So Don't stress on too much ..

My doctor did some test for vitamin D and b12 and come to find out my vitamin d is really low but other then that I still don’t have a reason to where the pain is coming from. When I eat I do feel nauseous as well and have had loss of appetite but I heard low vitamin d could cause that so now I just don’t know 🤷🏽♀️
@@itsqueenbeautiess9552 are you bloating after meals? Does your lower stomach widen. My lower back hurts often as well .. and i do sometimes gets nausea after meals. The Pancreas has a lot to do with food absorption/Nutrients and breaking down the meals we eat also the digestion of meals..

And my nauseousness after eating isn’t that bad anymore. I hope you have your answer but I had greasy soft stool and diagnosed with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Epi/pei. Chronic condition and it it diagnosed with a faecal elastase test.

Dr. I am wondering if covid can cause a blood clot in the pancreas? My sister just died after getting covid . Around 3 weeks after contacting covid. She was rushed t to hospital and diagnosed with pancreatitis and a blood clot in her pancreas. She died 3 days later. Greasy fatty stool. Get tested for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Test required is a faecal elastase test. The pancreas doesn't make enough digestive enzymes and it is a lifelong condition. Very rare it comes back to making enough enzymes.
It sucks but manageable with varying results fr person to person.

What if your elastase comes back low-130 on one stool sample and the. 118 on the next, but steatocrit is normal? No weight loss. What could cause the elastase to come back low?
@@J_Lit11 can be a few things. It can fluctuate but rarely can it jump wildly about. It depends on the sample given. It it was more firm the elastase may show higher but a more water sample it may be more dilute.
I just got my second sample back after a year and was mid 80s and now 93. Still severe and won't ever come back to normal. I hear people on about blood lipids and that has never come up with my doc. Elastase is specifically released during digestion so clear indication something is wrong.
Id be more concerned if it went from 90 to 30 for example. That's extreme reduction in a short time but it can definately fluctuate from day to day slightly on consistence and what you ate. Fattier meal, more release but if the organ is functioning bad then it's releasing all it can.
@@richiep3520 both samples were a “normal” stool sample, as in not firm nor watery, just soft. There was around a 2 month period of a difference. GI doctor is suggesting an MRCP or ERCP. Waiting on insurance authorization. I have drank alcohol socially before but do not drink alcohol at all now.
@@J_Lit11 i drank more routinely but like most young Irish people do and almost stopped except the odd glass of wine. I had CT scan and showed nothing. Then an EUS and showed mild atrophy on body and tail. He assured me the damage was showing minimal I the grand scheme of things.
I am also awaiting an Ercp or mrcp , not sure which. I may have a thing called pancreas divisum. Doesn't normally account for this happening (chronic pancreatitis) but it CAN cause issues.
I lost my brother because of pancreas problem 😥
4 years ago I had 60% of my pancreas removed as well as my gall bladder and spleen removed in the same surgery. Now I feel like total crap, I have chronic fatigue and take Creon and diabetes meds. I do have to fight weight loss and I'm in my mid 60's. My kidneys and lungs are ok so far. I did get a-fib from the inflammation that is still an issue.
