Hi, Tian. Firstly, I'm grateful that I stumbled upon this great channel. I still use GT-8 live, it's a great piece of gear. However, I have a little problem with it. I wanted to implement some of the suggestions you mentioned in your videos, but for some reason all buttons on the right side (output, system, write, exit, manual, etc.) are not giving me any response when I click them. Do you know what could cause such a problem? Did I accidently "locked" those functions somehow? Any idea how to fix it, should I try factory reset? (Note: I edit patches via MIDI cable on my PC, so I'm pretty sure that buttons are not broken or something, cause I rarely touch those anyway :) Looking forward to hearing from you.
Hello, thanks for your vids, are the amps and distortion as bad as everyone seem to say on the gt6? Been looking for a cheap mfx unit, always enjoyed the boss modulations
You can get some pretty good sounds, i used the GT6, then GT8 and GT10 live in my band at the time, direct to the desk and they sounded great. Compared to the amp modelling that pedals have today though, no, they’re not as good. Check out my video where I’ve created some patches, that might give you some idea of what you can expect. czcams.com/video/0Lw8ZcdDBtw/video.htmlsi=kZTw_KUK0fPC99zK
Jay good video, I am trying to shape the sound on my GT to reproduce that unique fender Strat bell tone ( Tin pan alley , Stevie Ray) cant seem to do it. is there a tutorial book or something I can use as a guide to achieve these unique tone quality?
Kenneth C. McCoy Hey Kenneth, emulating other player’s tones is not really my area of expertise I’m afraid.. I no longer have a GT8 so I can’t even trial any sounds to get you in the ballpark.. sorry.
@@KennethCMcCoy Haha, well that's a long answer.. from the GT8 i went to the GT10, then Eleven Rack, Rocktron Prophesy, AxeFX Ultra, AxeFX2, Fractal Ax8 (which I probably held on to the longest), then Mooer GE300 (still have) and Kemper Floor which I also still have. I have just pre-ordered the NeuralDSP Quad Cortex and I think it's going to be a game changer!
I have just Paid £75 for my GT8 but it wont be coming until next week. So two questions, (1)Can I reset it back to factory settings? (2) are there presets ? I intend to use mine with a lap steel guitar am I likely to run into any problems?
Yes, it's pretty easy to reset to the Factory Settings however the original presets are never actually overwritten, they exist if you scroll past the "U" (user) banks. If you want to start fresh though, here's a vid that will clearly show you how - czcams.com/video/uJ-oyS0WgzU/video.html
Hi Tian, I’m a newish guitar player (2.5 years) and just got my first electric guitar. I was going to add a couple of pedals but then I discovered this amazing looking board. My question is, how easy is it to connect? Does it just need a power cable, guitar cable and amp inputs? (I haven’t got one yet because I’m a bit worried it’ll be too hard for me to use!)
Hey N Tay, nice to hear from you! Extremely easy to connect.. it comes with it's own power supply (when new so make sure if you're buying one second hand that it is included) and in it's most basic form, simply plug your guitar in to the Input and a cable from the Output Left (if you're plugging in to a single source, ie; amp or speaker) and if you want/have stereo speakers use the Output Right to the second speaker. Alternatively you can monitor with headphones. I should add that there are a lot of much better sounding multi fx pedals on the market now, many with much improved Amp sounds and the ability to use Cabinet Impulse Responses that provide the sound of real guitar cabs... maybe check out some of the Mooer Pedals, or Line6's entry level stuff..
@@tianjay thank you for your answer! I see that this model is discontinued but there are many 2nd hand ones for sale - I’m looking at one for $150 which seems like a bargain. I will research the models you mentioned…. Any one in particular I should consider? I need something easy-ish to use!
@@ntayntay If you don’t need access to a bunch of different presets quickly then it is a great little option for you! It has a tonne of effects, as well as a built in expression pedal and has a looper as well as some drum and rhythm loops that you can jam along which would be perfect for honing your guitar skills! it’s very well made and I think that it offers a massive amount of bang for buck for the price. You can use the pedals to scroll through presets but obviously you don’t have instant access to multiple presets instantly like you do with the GT8 or GT10.. definitely worth checking out though.. check out this review - czcams.com/video/zOYG_nGxoII/video.html

Hi Erick, unfortunately I'm not a technician however you could try doing a factory reset.... note that it will completely wipe your user presets so ensure you back up everything first. More often than not a reset will fix any software related issues but if it's hardware related you will have to seek an authorised Boss repairer in your region

HI ! Tian . . I need help with my GT8 recently almost all my patches have extra reverb when i select them in the presets from the factory. Everything was ok before something happened i just can't figure what it is! i went to check the control assignement, and found nothing! Everytime i put my reverb off it keeeps coming back on for the next patches i choose . . . i need help !!! Thank's . . .
Hey Rick, is it possible that your Global Reverb Level has been accidentally adjusted? Go to OUTPUT, press PARAMETER right and you'll see TOTAL:Rev Level. Adjustments here will affect all of your Reverbs across the whole unit. Good luck!
The thing that is vitally important with the Auto Wah is that you have a good healthy input signal otherwise it won't trigger the envelope effectively... that's the best advice i can give without knowing your setup or what problems you're having..
I keep getting a very distorted sound without distortion on instead of super clean, I have been struggling to get it the tone I want. Do you now how to fix that?
My feeling is that either your input level (the sound going in to the GT) is too high or you haven't turned the cabinet simulation on.. everything will sound distorted without a cab enabled.
Hi Carolina CM... Both pedals are capable of good guitar sounds. The ME50 is a much simpler interface and works more like a conventional pedal board with each effect assigned directly to a module and able to be tweaked in realtime with the knobs. It doesn't have anywhere nearly the control capabilities of the GT8 but then, there are many much newer pedals such as AxeFX, AmpliFire and Helix that will give you much better sounds than the GT8 and ME50... But everyone's needs are different.
Hey Ammiel, have you checked out my 12 Patches Video? There's some good distorted/Gain Patches there... I've also uploaded the sysex file to my site so people can load them directly using their Patch editing software - tianjay.com/product/gt8-video-tutorial-download/
Ideally you should try to limit the noise before having to remove it.. in other words, try to use quality cables, ensure your guitar is working optimally... then consider using a noise suppressor in the GT8. This should be placed in the signal chain directly after the Amp block. Settings will depend on your particular setup and sound, for example how much gain/distortion you are using. Check out my video here -> czcams.com/video/4oyO0e4oTFk/video.html that will show you how to correctly set up noise suppression, it uses standalone pedals but the process is the same in the GT8
I’m sorry the video wasn’t any help to you..
