For pristine cleans, I did the v.4 update and mixed moderately low levels of X-Ultra (gain at 9) with TWN COMBO (twin) as the dominant tone to produce a sparkly clean. This created a rich, responsive clean. Slightly higher levels of X-Ultra produce standard cleans with edge of breakup. The X-Ultra makes a full, thick tone and the new algorithm produces a responsiveness that analog tube amp lovers will find somewhat groundbreaking. All this without having to push tubes to high dB levels, so this new tech achieves amp-cab touch-tone sensitivity at any volume. This is an absolute game changer in the digital modeling scene. Cuts through the mix, fat sounds and mixes under with TWN COMBO to produce the cleans many of us need. The example tones in the video don't explore this capability, but I am incredibly impressed and have been waiting for a digital unit to equal my love of tube amps. I think we have arrived! Thanks to Boss/Roland for taking the time to get this right.😀🌍🎸
I think I see what you mean. I tested the new amps using all of my other typical EQ and effects and the thing that stood out to me the most was how crystal clear and dominant the screaming bends are in the upper fretboard. I had to stop for a second like wow .. that sounded awesome
just tried it, this is a game changer update in adding well defined high tones, and very good models of the sd1 and ds 1 it really adds needed colours to the palette, plus the usual low latency feel that really makes this modeller special. Thank you Boss!!!
X-Ultra sounds like everything I love about X-Modded but more of it and finally an SD-1! My fav boost/OD of all time but have just been settling for the screamer until now
These new amps are FANTASTIC! The X-ULTRA produces an EXCELLENT MARSHALL TONE!!! The lead tones are GREAT!!! I play a Stratocaster and I plug my GT-1000 directly into a Fender Princeton amp. Thanks Boss!
Love the Optima, looking forward to trying it live and seeing if it really cuts through like it says it should but it sounds great in the studio! Only added a little reverb and boosted the mids / highs a tiny bit and it sounds great! Great advert / demo too - Fender could really learn something, their advertising of their new pedal is dreadful.

There are multiple bugs with this new version: presets do not get saved properly for example the speed of the rotary is FAST when one saves it as SLOW, the SOLO boost of an amp is not recalled when saved that way on a preset when using saved stomp boxes. Also the INPUT setting from the device triggers the TUNER on the computer app. This is full of obvious bugs! Need a fix fast because the way it is now the unit is useless for a gig if a preset does not recall the saved parameters correctly!

Updates are excellent and are what catch the eyes of many musicians, making the equipment remain popular. Adding the Dimension Chorus and some different amplifiers focused on various sounds like Marshall JTM50, Benson, Matchless HC30, Dumble... would be excellent and more attractive. Improving the dynamics of the amplifiers a bit would also be great, as the sound feels very stiff compared to Ampero and HX.
As a guitar player, I'm happy about the 3 new amps, but I'm even more excited to see some love for the bass players with the addition of 6 new bass amps in the patch notes! 🎶
Modeling the SD1 and DS1 was greatly needed for running with a real tube amp setup still lacking the full potential of GT1000Core as the pedal platform is vastly underutilized. My wishlist for next updates -Still I wish to see all effects quality improved to fractal level of quality maybe MDP treatment is needed with every effect especially distortion side. -more warmth lushness from mod effects they sound to cold and sterile. -I also want be able to have more dsp when using only effects with 4cm or 6cm method. -better tracking and sound if using pitch shifting as a drop tuning pedal. -boss should put all the algorithms from 500s pedal and modeling more boss pedals. -able to route fx like phaser to delays feedback signal -new mods,reverbs and delays is needed and more parameters to shape the effects. - want to see non boss algorithm effects like eventide blackhole, strymon big sky and tc electronic 2290 etc.

I really appreciate this new policy of updates ^^ Awesome one I'd love to see some unique effects added in the next one. I mean by that something as rabid mammal copy, pathos copy, tube compresion or bitcrushers for modern clean sound as charlie robbins, TH or Manu Classic sounds are pretty covered. You should not compare boss amps to the others ones 1:1 they are just different I think in a good way
As a loyal BOSS user since GT-6 and ambient / worship tone player, I'm little bit dissappointed with this update because no update for modulation and reverb and delay. e.g. granular / glitch delay, dimension chorus, cloud / blackhole / modulated / 2290 reverb, and more boutique algo from others.. Or at least please give more reverb blocks. But still happy becuse finally there is an update from BOSS which is very rare, I hope in the future BOSS will update the firmware often.
Thanks for the update....on the next gen device though, please work on the User Interface (UI). I like your stuff and own several boss products but the UI is not intuitive at all. I love headrush and fender tonemaster pro UI
But they are all presets for metal... for blues there is nothing... the quality of a modeler can be seen in the clean and crunch sounds, the good distorted sounds were already there, while the clean and crunch ones seem fake even compared to those of overloud th-u (without mentioning fractal)... it's a real shame, the GT-1000 would have enormous potential but is not exploited 😢😢😢
Most of these models sound really good with the gain turned all the way down and a few tweaks etc. Remember they're all coming from the same dsp. The sounds are in there...just search.
I agree that really good crunch sounds seem to be the most difficult to get out of a modeler. Apparently the marketing departments of Line 6, Boss, Fractal, etc., figure metal players are their most important market.
I faced an issue during updating to ver. 4 from ver. 3.21, followed the procedure properly, and all work ok, when turn on GT1000 after the update, it fails to boot, Only shows GT1000 on the screen, all leds turn blue and freeze as is, even when turn off GT1000, screen keeps freezing as I did not turn it off. I repeated the process many times with the same result. Then I did once again with ver. 3.21 file and completed successfully, I did factory reset, then repeat the process again with ver. 4 bin file and faced the same issue again. Finally I returned back to ver. 3.21 waiting advices or Boss to fix.

MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - ASSIGN SETTING - SOURCE: Значения DOWN и UP необходимо разделить на: MEMORY DOWN, MEMORY UP, MANUAL DOWN, MANUAL UP Сейчас же при назначении какой-либо функции на контроллер DOWN или UP происходит назначение этой функции в обоих режимах: и в MEMORY и в MANUAL, что отнимает возможность использования процессора в режиме педалборда с 5 контроллерами (MEMORY+MANUAL) без использования внешних контроллеров 2. CTRL1 разделить на MEMORY CTR1 и MANUAL CTRL1, тем самым расширив возможности управления прибором. Если же при смене режима с MEMORY на MANUAL нужно будет оставить CRTL1 без изменения, на него в обоих режимах просто можно будет назначить одинаковые функции 3. MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - CONTROL FUNCTION: Добавить PATCH # То есть добавить возможность назначить конкретный патч на конкретный футсвитч. Сейчас это можно сделать только на MIDI-контроллере. На футсвитчи же (DOWN, UP, CTRL1, CTRL2, CTRL3, CTRL4, CTRL5) можно выбрать только листание пресетов, а это не очень удобно 4. MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - CONTROL FUNCTION: Добавить REVERB TRIG В блоке REVERB в TYPE есть замечательный ревербератор TERA ECO. У него есть очень крутая функция TRIGGER, но в CONTROL FUNCTION она отсутствует. Поэтому назначить эту функцию на футсвитч можно только через ASSIGN SETTING, а данный тип назначения работает некорректно (смотри пункт 1) 5. Использование GT-1000 CORE в качестве CAB-симулятора и плеера IR-импульсов при использовании в петле внешнего преампа Для того, чтобы использовать внешний предусилитель нужно выключить слот AMP, но сейчас, при выклчении этого слота выключаются и родные кабинеты и пользовательские IR-импульсы, что очень ограничивает использование GT-1000 CORE в качестве использования его как основы педалборда 6. IR-LOADER При загрузке сторонних пользовательских IR-импульсов при конвертировании очень сильно меняются их частотные характеристики и они становятся непохожими на исходники. Наиболее явно это слышно при использовании HIGH-GAIN усилителей. Следовательно невозможно пользоваться любимыми IR-импульсами, потому что они звучат иначе 7. Выключение TUNER нажатием на любой футсвитч Сейчас из TUNER можно выйти только при одновременном нажатии на комбинацию футсвитчей DOWN+UP. Это совсем не удобно в живой игре, так как можно промахнуться и вместо выключения тюнера включить какой либо эффект или даже переключить пресет не видя этого, так как в этот момент на экране не отображается ни пресеты ни эффекты. Необходимо реализовать выключение тюнера, как это сделано на большинстве процессоров, нажатием на любой футсвитч 8. Доработать GLOBAL TEMPO Иногда при перелистывании пресетов (даже при условии, что во всех пресетах включена функция TEMPO HOLD) , тем все равно иногда сбивается МЕНЕЕ ВАЖНЫЕ ЗАМЕЧАНИЯ: 9. 1-5 KNOBS - TUNER - on/OFF При назначении на какую-либо из 5 кнопок функции TUNER эта кнопка только включает тюнер, но не выключает его. А выключить тюнер можно только нажатием комбинации футсвитчей DOWN+UP (смотри пункт 7) 10. Калибровка педалей экспрессии EXP1 и EXP2 Необходимо добавить функцию калибровки для возможности использования не только педалей BOSS, но и педалей других фирм, так как технические и эргономические предпочтения у всех разные ПОЖЕЛАНИЯ: 11. 1-5 KNOBS - METRO - ON/OFF Добавить возможность назначить включение/выключение метронома на 1-5 KNOBS для более удобного использования без необходимости лезть в меню и не занимать футсвитчи этой функцией 12. Заменить блоки DELAY 1-4 одним блоком, аналогичным блоку MASTER DELAY, и назвать их DELAY 1 и DELAY 2. Это будет гораздо полезнее 13. Добавить блок REVERB 2. Он просто необходим так как при переключении пресетов хвосты ревербератора сохраняются только при условии одинаковых TYPE REVERB. Поэтому приходится либо использовать одинаковые REVERB (хотя на одном пресете хочется включить к примеру HALL, а в другом TERA ECO), либо слушать некрасивые обрезания красивых хвостов. Я понимаю, что возрастёт нагрузка на DSP и поэтому предлагаю принять следующие меры: a) Удалить блоки EQ3 и EQ4. Вряд ли кто-то использует 4 эквалайзера. Двух вполне достаточно. Единственное что можно сделать, так это в типе эквалайзера PARAMETRIC добавить 1‐2 полосы регулирования b) Удалить блок CHORUS. Эффект CHORUS присутствует в блоках FX1, FX2 и FX3 этого вполне достаточно. И к тому же в блоке CHORUS присутствует меньше вариантов TYPE данного эффекта c) Я понимаю, что одни варианты TYPE REVERB потребляют больше DSP, другие меньше. Соответственно поставив сразу 2 TERA ECO нагрузка на DSP будет значительная. Поэтому предлагаю разделить все виды TYPE на REVERB 1 и REVERB 2, то есть более ёмкие определить в один блок (REVERB 1), а менее ёмкие в другой (REVERB 2), чтобы исключить вероятность перегрузки DSP (Тоже самое, при необходимости, можно сделать и с блоками DELAY)
I don’t like them. Or any of the MDP amp models. I seem to get best sounds out of diamond amp and supreme . I have tried everything with two FRFR and it just sounds like crap and fake. Weirdly enough when I record my signal in Ableton sounds a lot better. But it still sounds like a microphone on an amp, rather than like an amp. I have to put in earplugs and turn it up loud in the room for it to feel like an amp. I love the GT-1000 but these don’t do it for me

Gen-3 Katana has great blues tones. New "pushed" amp model, and also "bloom" switch.

The addition of the SD-1 is great for blues tones.
I have no use for metal tones, but have to disagree on the GT1000's clean amps. The Twin, Deluxe, and Diamond AIRD models (among others) are great!

No tenían nada bueno para sonidos de alta ganancia modernos. El resto de los sonidos ya estan cubiertos de una u otra manera. Tiene Buenos effectos pero las distorsiones para cosas modernas eran motivos de críticas, los amp disponibles hasta ayer no cubrían esa necesidad del todo.

BOSS GT-1000 CORE
ВАЖНЫЕ ЗАМЕЧАНИЯ:
1. MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - ASSIGN SETTING - SOURCE:
Значения DOWN и UP необходимо разделить на: MEMORY DOWN, MEMORY UP, MANUAL DOWN, MANUAL UP
Сейчас же при назначении какой-либо функции на контроллер DOWN или UP происходит назначение этой функции в обоих режимах: и в MEMORY и в MANUAL, что отнимает возможность использования процессора в режиме педалборда с 5 контроллерами (MEMORY+MANUAL) без использования внешних контроллеров
2. CTRL1 разделить на MEMORY CTR1 и MANUAL CTRL1, тем самым расширив возможности управления прибором. Если же при смене режима с MEMORY на MANUAL нужно будет оставить CRTL1 без изменения, на него в обоих режимах просто можно будет назначить одинаковые функции

То есть добавить возможность назначить конкретный патч на конкретный футсвитч. Сейчас это можно сделать только на MIDI-контроллере. На футсвитчи же (DOWN, UP, CTRL1, CTRL2, CTRL3, CTRL4, CTRL5) можно выбрать только листание пресетов, а это не очень удобно
4. MENU - CONTROL ASSIGN - CONTROL FUNCTION:
Добавить REVERB TRIG
В блоке REVERB в TYPE есть замечательный ревербератор TERA ECO. У него есть очень крутая функция TRIGGER, но в CONTROL FUNCTION она отсутствует. Поэтому назначить эту функцию на футсвитч можно только через ASSIGN SETTING, а данный тип назначения работает некорректно (смотри пункт 1)
5. Использование GT-1000 CORE в качестве CAB-симулятора и плеера IR-импульсов при использовании в петле внешнего преампа
Для того, чтобы использовать внешний предусилитель нужно выключить слот AMP, но сейчас, при выклчении этого слота выключаются и родные кабинеты и пользовательские IR-импульсы, что очень ограничивает использование GT-1000 CORE в качестве использования его как основы педалборда
6. IR-LOADER
При загрузке сторонних пользовательских IR-импульсов при конвертировании очень сильно меняются их частотные характеристики и они становятся непохожими на исходники. Наиболее явно это слышно при использовании HIGH-GAIN усилителей. Следовательно невозможно пользоваться любимыми IR-импульсами, потому что они звучат иначе
7. Выключение TUNER нажатием на любой футсвитч
Сейчас из TUNER можно выйти только при одновременном нажатии на комбинацию футсвитчей DOWN+UP. Это совсем не удобно в живой игре, так как можно промахнуться и вместо выключения тюнера включить какой либо эффект или даже переключить пресет не видя этого, так как в этот момент на экране не отображается ни пресеты ни эффекты. Необходимо реализовать выключение тюнера, как это сделано на большинстве процессоров, нажатием на любой футсвитч
8. Доработать GLOBAL TEMPO
Иногда при перелистывании пресетов (даже при условии, что во всех пресетах включена функция TEMPO HOLD) , тем все равно иногда сбивается
МЕНЕЕ ВАЖНЫЕ ЗАМЕЧАНИЯ:
9. 1-5 KNOBS - TUNER - on/OFF
При назначении на какую-либо из 5 кнопок функции TUNER эта кнопка
только включает тюнер, но не выключает его. А выключить тюнер можно только нажатием комбинации футсвитчей DOWN+UP (смотри пункт 7)
10. Калибровка педалей экспрессии EXP1 и EXP2
Необходимо добавить функцию калибровки для возможности использования не только педалей BOSS, но и педалей других фирм, так как технические и эргономические предпочтения у всех разные
ПОЖЕЛАНИЯ:
11. 1-5 KNOBS - METRO - ON/OFF
Добавить возможность назначить включение/выключение метронома на 1-5 KNOBS для более удобного использования без необходимости лезть в меню и не занимать футсвитчи этой функцией
12. Заменить блоки DELAY 1-4 одним блоком, аналогичным блоку MASTER DELAY, и назвать их DELAY 1 и DELAY 2. Это будет гораздо полезнее
13. Добавить блок REVERB 2. Он просто необходим так как при переключении пресетов хвосты ревербератора сохраняются только при условии одинаковых TYPE REVERB. Поэтому приходится либо использовать одинаковые REVERB (хотя на одном пресете хочется включить к примеру HALL, а в другом TERA ECO), либо слушать некрасивые обрезания красивых хвостов.
Я понимаю, что возрастёт нагрузка на DSP и поэтому предлагаю принять следующие меры:
a) Удалить блоки EQ3 и EQ4. Вряд ли кто-то использует 4 эквалайзера. Двух вполне достаточно. Единственное что можно сделать, так это в типе эквалайзера PARAMETRIC добавить 1‐2 полосы регулирования
b) Удалить блок CHORUS. Эффект CHORUS присутствует в блоках FX1, FX2 и FX3 этого вполне достаточно. И к тому же в блоке CHORUS присутствует меньше вариантов TYPE данного эффекта
c) Я понимаю, что одни варианты TYPE REVERB потребляют больше DSP, другие меньше. Соответственно поставив сразу 2 TERA ECO нагрузка на DSP будет значительная. Поэтому предлагаю разделить все виды TYPE на REVERB 1 и REVERB 2, то есть более ёмкие определить в один блок (REVERB 1), а менее ёмкие в другой (REVERB 2), чтобы исключить вероятность перегрузки DSP
(Тоже самое, при необходимости, можно сделать и с блоками DELAY)
I don’t like them. Or any of the MDP amp models. I seem to get best sounds out of diamond amp and supreme . I have tried everything with two FRFR and it just sounds like crap and fake. Weirdly enough when I record my signal in Ableton sounds a lot better. But it still sounds like a microphone on an amp, rather than like an amp. I have to put in earplugs and turn it up loud in the room for it to feel like an amp. I love the GT-1000 but these don’t do it for me

Most Roland/Boss demos lean to the metal side for some reason.......
Prob bc metal players buy new tech and blues bros just cry about it
