After watching alot of these videos i did my own paint job last year, was very happy with the results. GUIDE coat helps 1000% its a MUST HAVE if u have scratches or dents in your car. Looks daunting at the start but you have ALOT to gain from learning how to paint your own car. You loose alot of fear of getting a scratch on your car because you then know how to easily fix it instead of paying someone

Nice work you did there! The dark green and the tan/gold is one of my favorite combos on a car. I love the way the green pops in the sun then at night it goes to black, it's sick as hell!! The fade you did on the gold stripe if you further reduce the base coat to almost a 2:1 it helps with the way it lays out. It's thinner so it does more of a fade and u can just go over it few times until u get the tone you want. Just a tip! Not trying to tell u how to do anything!
As a coatings specialists of over 25 years. I approve this video. I haven’t had a chance to work with primer putty yet. Still sticking to the knife grade putty for final, or small fills.
It looks like your regulator and fan patterns are set perfectly. Which is a good thing because one second of loss of surgical precision could cause a run to occur. I was waiting to see the guide coat step being totally missed, as when I stumble across a video like this. That’s what is normally forgotten. Perfect score bro.

Just finished up with my first paint job following several of your videos. Thanks for all the helpful information you've provided!
I used a vinyl masking graphic, using the same method shown in this video. It came out well, but when I peeled it off, it left adhesive residue everywhere. I was able to get it all removed before clearing after putting in a days worth of work wiping it off, but thought I'd ask you if you used some specific type of vinyl graphic for your Miata?
The graphic that I used was meant for permanent installation over clearcoat, therefore having very tacky adhesive. Did you have this custom made and request specific adhesive be used?

40 years ago I had sanded and sprayed my car and it was a beauty. Next day home from work, I found my 4 year old kid in the garage sanding the newly painted car. Looking at me saying "Hi dad, I am helping you". I am proud that I thought it was funny. Good kid, has worked with me in the garage a lot since then.

This is just superb, I have been researching "diy auto painting equipment" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Banayce Wordless Blueprint - (should be on google have a look ) ? It is a smashing one of a kind product for discovering how to master car body work and spraying techniques minus the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my buddy got excellent success with it.

what kind of automotive paint spray gun is that? I am looking into re-painting my entire car's exterior body. IT has wear & tear, scratches, and a few small unoticable dents. On the rear, below the trunk and the license plate,...it looks like a black-tar like substance, but I'm not sure if it is some kind of black tar like substance or not. I'm also redoing the interior, but this will all take some time.
All I need to know, is what kind/type of automotive spray gun is that, that yall are using in the above video?

hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to uncover best way to spray paint a car try Wiltapar Paint Sprayer Secrets (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my brother in law got excellent results with it.
I've been researching into painting with a spray gun and discovered a fantastic website at Magic Painter Method (google it if you're interested)

My dad do the same job but u have to be rich before start this job beacouse you need your own place a big garage and a little room which is called a "stove". There is avible to work the car when you paint it and coasts about 70k $ and you have to be friend with a car dealer and he can give you cars to paint them so all is about 250k $ to start this work

now comes the long wet sand and buffing job huh to make it really pop.i wish i could paint my truck,it needs so much work,its a 1995 gmc z71 single cab.the clear is actually peeling off the tail gate,i guess someone didn't paint it right,I'm either going to the junk yard for the same color tail gate or its duple color rattle can,yea i know not good,but it will look better than it does now.great work man.you have a future.

It's the old version of the Atom X20. Check out the new one here: zoolaa.com look up Atom X20 HVLP or LVLP. The LVLP is mostly for clearcoats and HVLP is for base. Good luck my man!

I ordered some 5star 2k primer surfacer and I remember last time I used that stuff the tint was that yellowish tan primer. You think I’ll have issues putting gun metal grey metallic base over it?
I am so in love with my car and wanting to paint "just" the trunklid. With all of the expenses over the last few years has prevented me from getting an entire paint job. I know that I can do this myself. What happened was someone had put something on my trunklid causing it to bubble up and those areas have since peeled. I want to prep it so that I can paint it and thus prevent it from rusting as well. As few steps as possible would be my objective because "still" the budget factor. And, the fewer products I would need could make it happen. This is the reason I am watching this video in hopes to find direction that would enable the process.

Like a BOSS man. Well done. Safety speaking, those painting suits get hot BUT, be careful guys, this stuff (iso-cyonates) get into your body transdermally (through skin) and through your eyeballs. So great job but keep it safe and you wont have a brain tumor at 50...no joke here....

Wow I would like to find out on one or 2 things. I bought Matalic green paint and they gave me 2k clear coat and hardener. it that ok? In short , can I mix 2k hardner with matalic colour and finish with 2k clear coat?

d Mack Probably around 3000-5000 dollars depending upon if you do the prep work yourself.
Blue Collar Power $3 to 5grand? I dont even think the car is worth that much. 15hun bucks at best for this paint job imo.
A paint job doesn't become cheaper because the car is cheaper. To shoot my car in HOK color/clear it was more than $1500 just for the paint materials ($250 for 1 gal PPG DP50 primer, $150 for Nason 2k high build, $1100 for 1.25 gal HOK Platinum pearl basecoat, $300 for 1 gal Kosmic Klear). Nobody is going to do a decent paintjob for $1500.

The car may be worth £100 or a $100 but the work involved to paint it correctly and to a high standard doesn't change!

what do you do about the wheel wells. how do you stop rust from forming on the edges and back side. it looks like u just sprayed the outside. are you going to coat them to where the paint stops and the back of the well starts?
