Wow! That intro music made me think I clicked on "Vise Grip Garage" instead of DWOFS. I had to step back and look again...
Ha! A fellow wrencher who follows VGG, excellent.
That's the first thing I noticed.. Lol
free music to use..who used it first ..? it's a free no fee music file safe to use
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff I just like that guitar scale that's being played. Great song... Your channel and his channel are my favorites on the tube!
@@MichaelandCathy1999 I like both channels and hobbies myself. Glad to see I am not alone.
"Now that I've tuned it 300 times..."
That one had me rolling.
Sounds good dusted off my EKO ranger 12 (73 ) and ordered new strings off of Amazon this morning Dave thankss
Thought I was the only one who has one of those things 😅
I’ve got one as well. Mine is one of the rarer ones with a trapeze tailpiece, the pin style bridge models do sound better though.
@@henryhunter5026 hi Henry remember those I think they were called rancheros no an expert though and it was 45 or so years ago got mine from my aunt's catalogue when I was 17/18 along with a Marshall mercury 5w amp and a yellow Shaftesbury Tele copy dubbed the yellow peril (mainly because I found a sticker saying that) still got'em still use'em 👍
@@billmumbo2697 Nothing’s wrong with old musical gear. I’ve got quite a bit of old 1960/1970s stuff from the likes of Vox, Watkins Eko and Jedson etc. I’ve even got Harmony and Gretsch amplifiers from the 1950s.
@@henryhunter5026 lucky boy got a hofner colourama , arm copycat , 20w Marshall, Kay semi . Framas starbass,
Kay p bass copy (much coveted by our old bass player. Old Gibson acoustic etc, etc. We all aquire things and ping you have a collection 🙂
I got a Framus 12-string almost like that in 1965, still have it! I worked on the neck a few years ago, got it straight. Now it is probably time to finish the job and put on strings. I did put on new tuners long time ago, that really helps it stay in tune!
What's worse than tuning a 12-String ? Carrying a Hammond B-3 up two flights of stairs.
What's worth than carrying a Hammond B-3 up two flights of stairs? .. Buying a Hammond B-3... Only joking hyahyahaua
Do both lol
har har
yeah at least an upright bass is lighter,,LOL wow a B-3 God bless you for keeping it real.. That's real work,,
Excellent companion to my dinner sandwich! Thank you, Davey! Hope you're doing well. Cheers!
I feel like I’m back in the 70’s again...nice sounding 12 string...my OCD says I would need to do a repair on the gouge in the top, but that’s me 😂...we all need to help restock Dave’s used parts bins...
Sterling work as ever Dave! Keep on doing what ya do! All the best ✌️
After watching Leo Kottke's 12 string G tuning , I do the same myself. Standard tuning puts too much tension on neck and top. Thanks Dave for sharing all your invaluable knowledge all these years ....
You had me at “... it rhymes with you-know-what”. 😄. I’m a big Ernie Ball extra-light string user on older guitars. No need to have extra stress on older necks and guitar tops.
That's cool. I have an Epiphone Texan from about 1967 in my shop right now, it has a bad back bow. Regular pins in the bridge bit same moustache adjustable bridge. gonna try clamping and controlled heat!
keep up the great work Dave love your vids always funny af and chill to watch
I use to own a gibson 12 string that wouldn't stay in tune. I took it to a luthier and he replaced the tuners and bridge. It would still go out of tune before I could finisha whole song. I took it to another luthier and he put a differant set of stings that were a gage size thinner and tuned it. when I got it back it sounded a little more vibrent and stayed in tune. Now it stays in tune. I told the guy I sold it about the strings and tuning. Last I talked to him he hasn't had a problem with it. I guess sometimes it's the simplest things that cause the biggest problems.
Most of all you can be good to each other for free ... well said Dave ...
The trick to tuning a 12 string is first tune the regular 6 strings E to e, then tune the octave and unison pairs to the strings that are in tune. If you keep popping the g octave pair just tune it unison. As I guess he mentions, tuning a whole step down is a good idea.
Keep sending Dave 12 string gits that was hilarious!
Something like that inlay on the headstock, I would use small drops of superglue and slowly go along and glue it in place a bit at a time. Yes it will take time, and yes it's worth it to restore the instrument properly - not just adding gold paint.
good luck with that..I tried and it fell off and curled up
oh wow dave is in a good mood.
I'm from the city where this was probably made (Framus). Cheers Dave
Love the vgg music🏴💯
The 12 string might be a pain in the arse to tune, but they do sound nice with that shimmering effect.
Sounds pretty good!
Sweet
I actually own a 12string very simular to this one , olso german ; a König , zero fret & boldon neck & bridge look the same. LOL; to adjust the trustrod I had to grind the spanner just like Dave.(previous video)
Those Framus’s are hard to keep in tune. I later bought a used Takamine 12. That one stay in tune a whole lot better.
Nice work as usual Dave! Be well.
Hi Dave, Could you please tell me what truss rod socket wrench that I need to adjust the truss rod? I have one and need to do that. Thank You!
Hey David - I never hear you mention SOLO guitars anymore. Is there a reason you care to share?
closed due to the pandemic?
Shop is closed due to Covid. Only doing online and curbside pickup. I was there a few weeks ago.
@@roytofilovski9530 Hopefully one day, Dave will be doing videos from there.
4:41 Wait a second I notice the B course isn't in unison, either one of the strings is tuned a 4th higher or you used an extra high E String.
How did your visit go with your old apprentice?
Well dave this kraft 12 string was a mess then you performed your magic and it actually sounds pretty nice to be honest. Ovation and Martin in the 70s made the best 12 strings. Few play them now. So owner thank dave he did awesome job on a bolt on acoustic which I've never ever seen. Thanks dave for sharing ill never mess with one of thse
Dave what! No Ernie Ballsacks Haha!!
Tuning a harp or piano! Hey Dave got piano needs a set and tuning
👍👍😎✌️
Is that a Maltese Cross on your shirt? I’m an old firefighter paramedic
A Joe Satriani video was suggested in my feed a few days ago and as I was starting to watch I could swear it was Dave for some brief seconds...
The joy of tuning a 12 string, said no one ever!
It’s honestly not a big deal.
Oh yes but you also have the drama of whether or not while tuning the high G string snapping on you. After mine snapped I left it off as I couldn't be bothered replacing it.
I actually learned to play on a 12 String when I was 14. Insane, but true.
Me too, but I was fifteen!
And it was a Framus acoustic (that's what brought me here), only it had a thinner waist... I still have it 37 years later!
Tune that one whole step down...
Very clever, you load the strings into the bridge like you do on an Electric Guitar. Isn't that sweet.
All of Dave's wonderful skills brought to bear on what a guy I once knew referred to as a "plywood Toffee apple" or maybe where you are,a plywood candy apple.Hoyer twelve strings also German were much better....................................
Sounds good to me
12 String means you must play some Prog-Rock
I wonder if it would even burn well....
Is that the same one Rosa worked on?
just judging by the title..this gonna be good lol
edit: it was
The guitar looks a bit over-engineered, maybe because it's German.
Framus rhymes with Camus?
Why, if you’re in Ontario, do you charge for merch in US $$???
because I ship worldwide
The only thing worse than tuning a 12 string guitar is when you are restringing it then realize you've lost your tuner 😱
A bit disappointed when he didn't say Ernie Ballsack
Nice one it’s midnight. Lul
Kinda wacky the way it sets up but sounds really nice
I clicked and was like Wtf this isn't Vice Grip Garage! 🤣
whats worse than owning a 12 string ? owning 5 and having to restring and tune them
Framus amongus.... With the patented "Ever-Slip Tuners!
What's worse than tuning a twelve string?
Tuning a sitar.
Those sympathetic strings break every time.....probly just my investment in
a cheap sitar.
Autoharp
12 strings. You spend half your time tuning them, and the other half playing out of tune.
Then you are doing something wrong.
@@dba4292 Then you’ve never owned a 12 string.. lol
Got me there. I just comment on stuff.
Nonsense.
Roger Ncguinn is not happy.
Vice Grip Garage theme song. You stole that from his channel.
no ..it's a public music file for free use..i've had this intro a long time..I switch it up..unlike the other guy
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff I know brother. Just messing with you
Worse than tuning a 12 string.... tuning a double headed with 2 tremolo's... see you next week
My older brother has a 6 string Framus. Quite possibly the worst acoustic I have ever played.
Kraut not kraft
What’s worse than tuning a 12 string? Tuning a tuna fish!
But we all know "You Can Tune A Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish"! REO Speedwagon said so back in 1978--when I was 20 years old and Dave was 21!
Pretty sure it is pronounced FRAHHHHH-MUS.
Actually, 'Framus' doesn't, technically, rhyme with 'Anus'.
Sounds like you are very familiar with the anus...🤣
I was thinking Christmas
@@DavesWorldofFunStuff I was thinking it rhymes with Tinnitus.
In this case, it does.
@@regortex3364 Merry Christmas
