If we're talking about lights in general, the searchlight has pretty much been the undefeated king of artificial lights since their introduction in WW1. Even in WW2, they were capable of producing 800 million Candelas, or about 10 billion lumens, which is kind of necessary if you're going to spot bombers flying at 5km altitude in the pitch black or a ship that's a few miles out in the dead of night.

The thing let's you turn the night into day, I think that's a reasonable price point 😂
Is there something similar that’s a little more affordable? Obviously doesn’t need to be as bright
@@SterlingSimmons22 Another, slightly more practical flashlight I've been looking at is the Acebeam X75. I like it because it has a higher dust/waterproof rating than a lot of these crazy powerful flashlights (IP68). That means you can submerge it in shallow water completely and it will still work. Plus it's more compact that this one. It's around $400
Well if you look in the description, you can see this is a paid product placement, so of course he wouldn't say the price
I think that's actually down from what it used to be
My gma still uses the 2008 flashlight and has had it in her car ever since it came out. Same exact one in the vid. Perfect condition with original bulb and everything. She still seems to think its the best in the market too. She refuses to buy another one for 5 bucks. Gotta love stubborn old granny.
On a foggy night or morning it’s basically a beacon if pointed straight up
I remember my dad gave me a 4 D cell mag lite for my 16 birthday with the halogen upgrade bulb and it felt like having a gun back in the early 80’s.
I have an old school Maglite also. Always like how they gave you an extra bulb inside
You can now upgrade with an LED bulb
That's a fact😂

Flashlights have a bright future ahead of them.
In 2040 the worlds brightest flashlight will be lethal
2008 Mag lite: i can almost see a tree
2023 LED lite: we have a wildfire
In all seriousness, I used to work at an aluminum plant 20 years ago where we made all of the Mag lite metal parts. They are extremely well made. They would refuse entire orders if they were off by ~5 thousandths of an inch or had any water spots on them or any defect at all. 5 thousandths of an inch is so small but they demanded that level of quality and received it.
There were situations where the loads get tarped to protect from the elements and then shipped to California for final processing but the bundles got wet along the way somehow. Those truck loads would be refused. If you've ever had a mag lite, you know the quality was good, especially in the 90s and 2000s. Now you know why they were expensive; They demanded the best quality throughout the entire journey.
We made the Little Giant Ladders (called Wing) metals as well. They didn't care if we sent them aluminum colored sand.
Not every company cares about quality but Maglica really did
Cool story! It’s a similar situation with Snap-on Tools’ quality control with steel shipments. If it was “compromised” in any way prior to the manufacturing process, that steel is refused and/or scrapped.
What this guy isn’t telling you, is that Mag Lite will out last that Chinese spot light by 50 years.
Colored sand. 😂😂
Is there an Amazon link?
The mayor lived across the street from the chief of police. I hope the mirror up with a company that sold high-powered lasers. He bought a VERY STRONG infrared laser. He used a night vision scope to see the spot on the other side of the road we are the chief of police's house was and while he was sitting there drinking his coffee, the mayor set the garbage can next to him on fire with the laser but you couldn't see the beam.... He used his night vision to see the spot onto the trash can. Hahaha. They were always doing shit to each other.
Love MAG lights! I work security, tough tough light. Had a guy get stupid once while working a hotel. He was being asked to leave due to complaints, he yanked the door open and had a small knife in his hand, all i had tome to say was "oh 💩! Night manager was with me for the eviction, she called cops.
Guy tried to say I had hit him with a baton. I showed cops what i had.
Cop said " what do you use that for?"
Told him " its a flashlight just a flashlight, i use it on my rounds in the darker areas and to check areas that are hard to access."
Cop said " good answer."
Guy got arrested for assault with deadly weapon.

"Blind and poke" we used to say
Yeah. I had a cop fracture the top of my left hand with one.
I was at a club that got raided by the sheriff's department is part of the Drug War because they got a tip about some people who were slinging in the club.
Everyone in the club was told to go stand outside while they were looking for the guy who was holding, so and most of us were just up against the wall while 50 of them filed in.
This one old asshole was walking by me pulled out his mag light and smacked the back of my hand as hard as he could because I my fingers in my pockets while we were waiting for them to finish their raid.
So a little background about this...
Before this night this Sheriff's Department used to have a policy of people being able to pay off duty cops to provide security at clubs and at private parties. I distinctly remember being at one once at a park that had been rented out and the cops who were providing security on the outside, would ask "Do you have any drugs knives or guns? No? Welcome to the party?".
The law enforcement and the people putting on the events and the venues had an understanding. The police would have their back turned to the inside and would be looking outside in the moment something happened they could turn and enter the establishment, in force.
It made us safe and greatly reduced incidents by being able to quickly defuse them.
The police were also very happy to be being paid twice sometimes three times or more their normal salary to be there as an off-duty officer and we as customers/guests were very happy for the presence of not just good security, but security backed by legal authority.
Somer Conservative folks in the Community didn't like this arrangement once they heard about it, and got the law in the county changed to where off-duty officers could no longer be paid to provide security services.
Those same cops had to start making up for the lost money someway, so like every other department in the US They decided to figure out how to pay for their now inflated salaries with proceeds from drug busts.
So back to this night at the club. Because of my prior experiences with them I was very trusting of the police officers and I welcomed their presence and felt comfortable with them.
Then a mag-light hit me, and the pain of reality got my attention.
There is a moral to this story somewhere.
So are the imalent ones
The SR32 will probably atleast momentarily blind someone though (120k lumens Is a lot), giving you time to get away from someone. So one Is more offence while the other Is defence

@@gocardz6028 Or, carry a modern single 18650 cell LED flashlight that puts out a couple thousand lumens and fits comfortably inside your pocket, along with a concealed pistol preferably with another 1k lumen LED mounted to it. If you're in a situation where you can legally use a 6-cell Maglite flashlight as a striking baton, then you're also in a situation where you can dump several 124gr hollowpoints into your attacker's chest, the courts will lump both options into the same category, "deadly weapon". Call me crazy, but relying on your opponent not having a ranged weapon is just plain silly in this day and age, and very often the mere sight of said handgun will make the threat quickly rethink it's life choices and decide to _stop_ being a threat, thereby negating the need to even use a weapon in the first place, a pistol aimed at your chest or noggin is quite the incredible deterrent, much more so than someone weilding a long flashlight menacingly😂. Not to mention you don't have to sacrifice either striking or lighting your target for the other, with a pistol and LED light you can do both, much more efficiently.
Long story short, don't use a club with a light attached to it when you can use a firearm with a light attached to it...
4. How long does it take to blind someone with this?
An incandescent 4D Maglite was NOT the "world's brightest" in '08. It was a standard utility unit & police issue, more for its usefulness in also being ready to bop someone over the head with if necessary.
That is not a standard maglite, it is shown in the video it was a Mag 623. The number is the over driven aftermarket bulb it uses, powered by high drain lithium cells. The mag 623 is something like 20 times brighter than the stock light.

LEDs were introduced to flashlights in 1999. No way that mag was the brightest in 2008
In 2008 my engineer friend Norm had some ignorant flashlights. (Lights so strong they will give you a suntan and burn out your eyeballs. These are sick, like a ships spotlight) One of them had an HID lamp in it. Even to this day that flashlight is sick and evil
@@KlodFather ignorant flashlights? What does that mean?
@@KlodFather I’ve still no idea what you mean by ‘ignorant’ flashlight.
@@sstills951he obviously meant incandescent..but autocorrect was turned on. Don’t be such a dumbass
@@KlodFather using the word “ignorant” incorrectly = 🤦♂️
When u want the enemy to know where u are.
No... When you want your enemies to know you only fight when it's light out! 😅😂😅
Why do I have the urge to shine it in my eyes for one second.
No flashlight: Can't see
2008 flashlight: Can see
2023 flashlight: Can't see
About 1k people called 911 that night reporting "mysterious lights" in the sky that night! 😂
I use one of these when the cops shine me in the face with their “bright” flashlight.
Lucky your not get shot.. i did that with my sofirn q8 pro, and i got gun drawn to my face.
@@harisyoung4110really ? What did they say ?
@@harisyoung4110 You blinded him, he could not see what you were doing. For all he knew you could have been going for a gun.
@@harisyoung4110☠️ can’t hit what they can’t see
@@viperstrike3827we know for sure they armed and dangerous
Imagine you put a lightsaber on top of it... The LIGHT saber
2008: perfect strong flashlight for use
2023: who's gonna stop me from making it stupidly strong?
They say if you look into one while its on, it gives you the same superpower as Daredevil
Careful you might start the grass on fire!
Or the Hay Bales.
