I feel like the last time i saw an astromancer used was putting him on a war compass and having him just sit in the trees and cast spells. Seeing him get over 4k value and shut down some of the most oppressive artillery in the game was incredible to see.
Haha, the RTK clan has a reputation for that. I'm friends with some of them and they're extremely nice and helpful dudes, I send them replays and they always take the time to go in depth in what I could have done better, but they are also very self-proclaimed meta followers.
@@teddyspaghetti2858 I heard that RTK are always giving each other tips when in battle in tourneys, it’s very interesting how this game developed a single established clan.
When it comes fo firing arcs i hope we get a slight buff to guns in generall with the next dlc. I'm not asking for much but currently you kinda need to put them on a hill for them to start shooting.😅
Thunderbolt against the Chorfs is such a good tech piece, especially on a super mobile flyer like the that. Even still I was not expecting to see that level of dominance.
Loved the triple 🏗️ Gunnas 🔥 With patch 4.21 and the buffs to the Celestial Lion Mount, I think mounting that Celly General on the lion could be real strong to have a flying goon duo and one AP.
The Astromancer on the Moonbird was surprisingly effective I wonder if they could make the frost wyrm more effective by fixing up its hitbox and aoe attacks and maybe making it anti infantry as they don't have an anti-infantry monster the highest mount option for the ice witchs as it seems if you're very powerful with ice magic, they will follow you without question
Kislev already has anti-infantry monster option with the Incarnate of Elemental Beasts as far as standalone monsters go. Frost wyrm would more sense to me as a more expensive and big bodied duelist option compared to bear mount. Kislev is sort of in a position where they have too single entity monsters so that they end up getting redundant. Both the frost wyrm and elemental bear just seem awful at killing infantry or large units at their price points.
I honestly think just slightly more MD and alter its splash attack and hit box, you’re golden. It’s OBSCENELY fast for a big monster, and I feel the upgrades mentioned would make it slightly more survivable, and allow it to escape/hit and run better. I feel it has the potential to be a flanking hit and run monster, which is a niche Kislev could do with, since the bear and incarnate are slow. Not many monsters fit that on the order side, so it’d fill in a blank too.
@@daddypudding9074gotta agree on the surviveability part. Not having a lot of damage is fine if it can survive and disturb formations (see bastilodon) but it seems suprisingly fragile for its size. Personally I would say add 10-15 armor or an extra 5% missile resist alongside slight increase to meleedefense (+2). Testing it alongside katarins wardsafe item you see that it is just slightly off as it is baseline.
Was about to say this. Him on the lion might be the best way to bring the lion and he might sweep whole hordes of heavy armor. Might be really good vs sleanesh.
@@christianlangdon3766tbf, having grounded vs CD is good, since he can’t be shot down and can melt through the infantry safely. But on the lion, yea he’s great.
@daddypudding9074 true. I was thinking of the sleanesh macthup which is really hard for Cathay in Dom. Strong armor which kick you around and all the guns you need to bring are countered by their mobility. Just a thought I had with that Mashup.
I honestly think here, the anti large snipers for Chaos Dwarfs would have been a god send. They would have been able to keep the astromancer honest, and would have been able to defend themselves. Most of Cathays back line stackers are large, and even against crow men they’re heavily armoured and high MD. Dropping the renders and a shrieker would have been good I think, Could be wrong though, I’m definitely a campaign player 😂
There was speculation that Grand Cathay could have the most units of any faction and I am starting to believe it. I personally adore Cathay, we will have to see how good empire will be in TOD and see if they remain the most popular faction.
Having moonbird mount is awesome. What be even cooler is having option of metal, yin, and yang as hero casters with all the same mount options including flying horse one(forget the name). Having heros being so restricted is annoying, dark and high elf casters have it pretty open(except they can't have manticore and eagle mounts like lord can).
I wonder if the Alchemist will get a nice mount like the bird too. The Astromancer got 3 now, yet the Alchemist only got a horse, despite Cathey getting so many monsters this patch they could ride. I really do wonder how much there is left for the Cathey roster that would make for a nice mount option.
I wonder if the thunderbolt is just easily dodged though; as soon as moonbird moves onto your side of the map, can just move camera so you have your cannon line in sight. That or the 2 deathshrieks just target the moonbird down and kill it pretty quick cause they're anti everything... Also I think the crane gunners did well, maybe just go 2 and 2 iron hails in replacement of the 3rd to make any dive attempt brutal costly. Then use cav to screen out the enemy cav and so on.
Question: In general, would Jade Halberds be a better choice than Jade Warriors against the Dawi-Zharr? I feel like the AP and anti-large are valuable against the Chorf infantry and trains, and that the laborer chaff is low-tier enough that they'd lose to the halberds anyways?
Kinda depends. Chaos Dwarfs MA is pretty shocking on their infantry. The regular warriors can hold the line really well, and don’t really need to hit back depending on your build. But for sure halberds will do more damage I think, at he very least have a couple on your home objective. Especially since it’s only the large units that threaten it.
does celestial sweep not work when mounted on the celestial lion? because i tried using it like six times (in combat on the ground) and it wouldn't go off
I think Chorfs playing the artillery game vs Cathay simply doesn't work, they have way too many good tools for shutting them down. I guess Astragoth with a more melee-focused build would have done better.
120 speed on a caster. Is there anyone else who can match that on a big mount? Azhag has 110 on his wyvern with more AP, but other than that I don't know.
@Mortarion-xt9wp No. I hate their factions playstyle. Nothing but box formations within box formations. Their LLs are boring too. They just don't appeal to me at all. We've also had them under the spotlight since late late August along with Kislev and Tzeentch. I'm over it.
@emultra759 I usually play with Snikch when I go on my killing spree, but I should seriously consider trying Lokhir. Besides it can be a coin toss trying to stay on Lokhir's good side as Snikch if I'm not willing to gift him a lot of gold for treaties or if I'm not fast enough with snagging a settlement from the minor VC faction he starts at war with.
@@ZeriocTheTankI wouldn’t call their lords boring Tbf. They’re a bit vanilla personality wise, but they’re really fun and different enough from each other in campaign. Though yea, Cathay does promote box play, though Tbf, Dwarfs also do so, mainly due to their shocking speeds whilst you get buffs with Cathay. I think atm, they’re filling the Empires roll a bit too much right now, and also the dwarfs, so hopefully the next dlc fixes it.
I have commented here in hopes of speaking with you Turin. That's what happens when a caster with a good lore gets a fairly potent combat mount.
Turin is a real one for fast forwarding the irrelevant parts instead of trying to buff his watch time!

Really liking how much more versatile Grand Cathay is with the DLC, can’t wait to see what builds are possible once monkey king comes out!

The firing arc on the deathshreik is god-tier. I love how you can sit it within the tree line and it is still able to do its job effectively.

I think the frost wyrm would need big splash damage or something like that
They changed the bonuses on the Beast Incarnate. It's now anti-infantry along with it's mortis.

I liked the moment when Astromancer said "It's moonbirding time!" and then moonbirded all over those deathshriekers.
I'm really sorry.
Remember when you would Astragoth "Astrochad"? I think the Astromancer just stole that title this game.
