So, here is one incident I want to share with you all people, first some background check. I am from Aligarh. I came from SC category. So here it goes.
After completing my engineering, I decided to prepare for Gov Jobs instead of going for engineering related job. And I decided to shift in Delhi for the preparation. As I came here in Delhi, I started my search in Mukharjee Nagar for a one BHK apartment. And one day, I got some information through washerman that there is one available in that particular colony. I approached there to the landlord. The first question he asked me was - Naam kya hai tumara?
I said - Rishabh kumar.
Landlord- accha, surname kya lagate ho ?
Me - Katariya
Landlord - katariya ? (In a surprised manner), ye Katariya konsi category me aaate hai ?
Me - sc category me.
Landlord- oh, accha accha,
Me- rent aur electricity ka kya rahega sir ? Include hoga ya alag se Dena padega ?
Landlord- Abhi eisa karo Tum Shaam Ko aana, tab batayenge.
I went again in the evening. And rang the doorbell.
Landlord came out and said - accha eisa hai ki Abhi usme koi aur aa gya hai, Kahi aur dekh lo Tum.
Me- sir ye baat aap mujhe morning me bhi to Bata sakte the ?
Landlord- (said absolutely nothing and shut his door as he went inside)
Man, I feel bad, not for myself, but him. I didn't know ki why he acted in that way. It might be my caste or it might not be. But for me at that time, it was definitely because of my category.

Most of the so called upper caste people say that India is not developed yet because of reservation system, as undeserving people are getting into government jobs and top institutions. I'm a dalit and I'm in favour of abolishing the caste system but for doing this I say the entire caste system need to be abolished because if there won't be any caste there won't be any discrimination and there won't be any need of caste based reservation. Because we're humans first and then Indians. But I don't think most of the upper caste people would agree to me because they won't be able to discriminate anyone on caste basis after this. And ya many will say that caste based discrimination doesn't exist today but believe me I thought it too but I was wrong because I faced it multiple times in recent years and not just by uneducated people but highly educated too. Sometimes they behave like we're a disease. I am actually ashamed of being a part of this society. But hats off to anubhav sinha sir and ayushmann khurana sir, I know there's not going to change much but it will certainly bring a little exposure of the condition of our country.
Caste system exist, the only thing is that in urban areas it is subtle.

I have seen media use the term 'Dalit' and 'muslim' more than average indian...i am from northeast,assam..we never say we are proud to be northeastern indian,rather we say indian only..unlike the south ppl,this idea of jativad first should be removed from media and politics...these are platform which can polarise the masses.

One of the finest movie I've seen recently. *Anubhav Sinha* nailed it perfectly with *Ayushmann khurana* doing great job he must be consider for National award for this role. Discrimination against Dalit and Tribals is reality in today's modern world and we as a society should be really ashamed of this.

The problem is, You are giving 4 stars but this film is not meant for US.
We already knew such things happen and its wrong. Let see how many screens it will get in rural India. I am sure none.
Hence the purpose served is sucking up to high society and trying to get a good Opening at multiplexes.
This is not how problems are solved. They should promote it more in small center and hold free screenings if they wanna have some impact.
They haven't released it in small cities including my city.

Looks like u need more awareness about the discrimination happening in urban areas too .. Look every film maker tries to reach as much audience as possible to bring revenue but it's the distributors who decide on a commercial basis whether it would work in their region ... Kindly understand every movie comes with a certain message that doesn't mean they would broadcast it for free without making a Penny...
The reality of society is very well portrayed in the movie.
The conversation between Gaura and Nishad that night deeply touched me.His plight of not being able to lead a 'normal life'.
His expressions the next morning on the road...hatsoff to the actor Zeeshan.

I want to make one thing clear. Caste distinction jitna rural india me hai, utana hi urban india me hai. Bs way of reflecting the differencea badal jata h. Discrimination is subtle in urban India.
Discrimination (covert or overt) starts right from the day a child is born and named. Our names (first names and surnames) have gender and caste ingrained in them. First we need to start a gender neutral and caste neutral naming convention.
Caste system is one of the main reason which put India where it is now.... But Kudos to the movie what a gem.

Service lift in a gated community is made for a reason. They are generally larger in dimensions to allow big volume items like furniture, big appliances to fit in. Service lift was meant not to cause inconvenience to the residents of the apartment while the service guys quietly deliver their goods and install it. This is nothing to do with discrimination. Pure design thinking.

He is an IPS officer.. To be an IPS one needs to give civil services examination. The Upsc syllabus contains "social issues " and "Indian Society".Then in the movie how could ips (aayan) is not aware of the structure of Indian society..Ridiculous..One cannot be an ips officer without knowing basic things of Indian history ,society ,and what's going on in the country.

Movie is really good, must watch. To be said that I also felt that this movie generalises the problem of cast and creed for whole india. whereas its happen only in some remote places of India and not mainstream any more, because in my experience young Indians of today care less and less about cast creed and supports movies like Artical 15.
Anubhav Sinha is a great film maker he deserves all our self respect.
Watched yesterday .... The Vande Mataram ending score was just spine chilling .... No wonder why mainstream media is not promoting this movie but trash like Bharat .

Those who say there is no caste based discrimination then let me tell you one thing I live in a city which is included in smart city list but people are stupid. The landlord will ask your caste and if you are dalit or minority then they will change their way of talking n expression and increase the rent which is not even worthy to pay for that portion.
People don't consider a maid from lower caste or minority( my tenant,she is a govt school teacher,she did this with a maid ).
The village setup is based on caste only .Can visit a village and you'll find In central area higher class people will live and others will setup at outskirts.
One more example I was in pg in jaipur n my roommate was from upper class . Whenever she wants to bitch about anyone or comment on other girls look n dressing sense the only line she used is"chamar lg rhi h" . For last 1.5 year heard that line so many times. And I just feel like...is she educated??? She is literate but uneducated and she is pursuing law and preparing for upsc with such mentality.

Let's face it. It's the truth this is India
India will never be equal in anyway because from the day we were born we were taught that some are superior than the other or inferior than the others. Secondly, the discrimination and fights is getting out of hand where many Dalits and other so called castes and minorities religions are killed, tortured etc. Now the General castes wants to abolished the reservation quotas but that would be unfair if the above mentioned are still at large out of control.
And ya if the citizens still thinks that the quota system are the roots cause of India still being far ahead from developed then that is the most unlogical way of thinking. India will not developed unless the Government do something for the country and not just speaking without action, doing favour to the particular groups of people just to gain votes, where population is all about votes and not having the mind of looking after them, where neglecting the economically weaker sections of people are a common trend and the lists can go on and on. And lastly where majority of the general public and govt servant are not sincere from top to bottom.
From a frustrated poor and concerned citizen.
Higher percentage of reservation on the basis of income inflation shall be awarded it might invite some prevailed equality that income brings.
