Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15 has drawn criticism for showing Upper Class male as a saviour. Anubhav Sinha, in an interview to The Lallantop Editor Saurabh Dwivedi, states the reason for choosing such a character as protagonist. He mentions that it is a step and we need to go a very long way. He also shares an interesting anecdote from the set of Article 15, when cinematographer Ewan Mulligan refused to shoot the climax. He wasn’t pleased with the idea of a Brahmin hero saving a Dalit Girl.

If I were to revisit 2019, I would have preferred this movie to be nominated for Oscars over Gully Boy. Article 15 was more deserving. It pained my heart to see Gully Boy being nominated for that year's oscars.

Coming from privileged class myself i must say, we are way past tokenism, now, we need to step aside and make way for people from marginalized communities. The best thing we can do is spread awareness in our class and stop tolerating casteism from in own classes. Although this movie was progressive. I did had a problem with last scene but it was still sensitive.

Article 15 talks about the discrimination which present day society is facing even now...you don't hv to know full history to make such movie. It's not a historical movie

Though I have not seen this movie, I think as Saurabh sir pointed out that it is the privileged sections of the society such as the Brahmins who need to understand equality, equity, rights and freedom more than the others.
It is not about male saviour complex but the Brahmin's change of perspective and heart.
