Absolutely true. That's why banning any film is not the solution, but criticising the movies are solution, because constructive criticism can help the directors if they had shown in the movie is right or wrong,
My only problem with Kabir singh was they romanticised the toxic relationship,
Reality me aisi relationships jyada din nhi chalti ye nibba nibbi wali,
Koi character development nhi tha movie me, Kabir did not become a better person, Kabir did not realised where he was wrong and how he treated was wrong. And Preeti ye sab hone ke baad bhi self respect nhi laa payi apne lie stand nhi le payi,
Imo ending should have been better, Preeti not choosing Kabir and having a spine and choosing to be a single mother rather than choosing him as a father, that would have been a better ending
This movie for me was just a glorification of toxic masculinity and toxic Femininity,
Just imagine pyar ka punchnama ka ending me teeno ladko ka breakup nhi hota but they continue to be in those relationships, that would have been glorification of toxic relationship right, same thing with Kabir singh,
Because of this people don't like this film, and criticism should be there, but I don't think banning any film is good

@2:26 the moment when you realize actually you aren't that smart you were trying so hard to be. Should Anurag Kashyap have been responsible in showing a man killing his own sister and brother-in-law brutally in front of his nephew? No one would dare ask him this stupid question? Have these women ever criticized Kareena Kappor for calling women "Tandoori chicken"? NO (by the way that line of the song is Kareena Kapoor's favourite, watch the making of the song if you don't believe me) ....When a man is shown to be a rapist in a movie that's okay but when a guy makes Pyar ka Punchanama he becomes misogynist why? Coz he showed female characters that are morally corrupt, who use men. Aren't there women like that in real world? Are all women saints? Are there no female prisons in the world? When you use logic with these liberal privileged English speaking bimbos (like Manoj Ji did here) the first word that comes out of their mouths is "BUT".....I mean they don't have brains but "BUTT" up there....

Kind sir, first of all song 'fevicol' is considered as misogynist as the movie Kabir Singh. May be if you haven't run into such an opinion earlier then you have a little myopic company. Secondly, it's not the rape scenes, or violence or murder or harrasment as long this is not what the movie glorifies. In the movie Kabir Singh, it's not the hatred against a particular sex or more particularly the slaps, the domination or the overpowering of a woman's will that has been in question. This happens to be the reality in the Indian society. However, it's the glorification of these scenes. Where the Kabir Singh still remains to be the hero of the movie and in the end gets the girl. Where he insults a girl and her family and in the end blames all the fuss on her. And as conclusion gets the girl. Who, since preganent, had to be relying on a man for sustenance. This message that has been propagated for the young India, not just males but all sexes is problematic. I don't really mean to attack you but the discrimination on the basis of sex is not primordial. It has been strategically infused over the years by diverse institutional means. Movies now a days happen to be one such means. If movies only influence hairstyles then why they are censored or pg rated at times. Because it is only a dialogue and not reality. Movies influence us in great deal and as far as one may go to oppose this, implicitly they will all acknowledge it.

People missed the point with Kabir Singh. Kabir Singh's character was shown as a flawed one. It wasn't meant to be liked. It was a story of a character who was pathetic in dealing with his life and regretful of the decisions he made. It isn't meant to be replicated.
And the same people appreciated Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of Joker, who was actually a psychopath and whose fans made a ruckus in US. Again, Joker's character isn't meant to be replicated. And if you still do it, you are nuts, unless it's a cosplay then go on. But the hypocrisy is bewildering. People fathom Hollywood movies and it's villainous characters like Marlon's or Pacino's portrayal of a kingpin. But they fail to realise even if some people copy it, they aren't the majority. Majority people don't have the luxury with time/money to imitate characters they see on screen.

That shouldn't stop the creation of such characters that do exist in society. Cinema is a reflection of society and it does mildly portray such characters. Yes mildly.

If you have problem with Kabir Singh, stop appreciating Gangs of Waseypur, Sacred Games, Mirzapur etc which all promotes criminal gang wars.
Edit : I see a lot of conversation going on in the reply section. Adding something more here
Let me interpret a version of "Kabir Singh" as a movie for you.
The main protagonist here is a flawed character.
He has anger management issues and thats a real mental problem with many people. He wasn't glorified for his actions in the movie.
    In first 20 mins
    - He has been thrown out of his house
    - He was trying to have sex threatening on a knife point
    - In hospital he is sipping alcohol before operation.
    Cut to flashback,
    - He has a fight during football match
    - Dean introduces him with Anger Management '0', compares him with a murderer for being a surgeon with such issues.
The first 20 mins itself sets the character of the protagonist It depicts how big of a moron and psycho he was.
And sorry to break this to you but there are many women who have fanatasy for such alpha males with such charectirsitic flaws.
At the end it was a movie, not everyone will like it. No one is forcing anyone to watch it, nor asking anyone to watch and say postive words about it. But the rampant hate aginst the Actor and the Director for presenting such a character and his actions, is bizzare.
In Raanjhanaa movie Dhanush the protagonist keeps on chasing Sonam Kapoor, gets slapped 16 times, cut his wrist to make her fall in love with him. Is it okay for everyone? After 8 years when she returns from Delhi things are changed, but the protagonist gooes to the extent to destroy her marriage and her life. Is this okay too? If you apply the same moral compass here, things are as pathetic here too. Dhanush's character was also a flawed one. People went bonkers on the movie and acting of Dhanush.
Personally I have a list of bollywood songs which are vulgar with it's lyrics objectifying women as just fucking sex subjects.
Has anyone stopped making them ? No
Do I watch or listen them ? No, I just hate them. I just ignore them. Plain and simple.
Most movies and TV series are fiction and are made for entertainment. They are not here to give you a social message nor change the society. If you didn't like it, post about it, write articles about it, spread your opinion the way yout want. But whenever you get a chance you will poke this actor, that actress, this director, that producer citing Kabir Singh and asking hard headed questions on responisbility? That's just to fulfil your egoistic pleasure.

@P S Well game of thrones never glorified any such acts.It just showed what it is.That show was supposed to be taken place in medieval period. At that time women were treated like shit. There were no option for her as she was sold to Khal Drogo by her brother.Khal Drogo was her only way to get the throne. So Daenerys has to accept her rapist as her husband. She was a victim of patriarchy. Those actions of neither Khal Drogo nor Daenerys were justified in any way.It is a fantasy and political show revolving around the dispute for the throne amoung the houses, not a love story between Daenerys and Khal Drogo. The journey of Daenerys from a vulnerable woman to queen of Essos and then to her claim for the iron throne, was one aspect of the show even though they butchered her character and story.(In the books Khal Drogo never raped Daenerys and their sex was consensual.Daenerys indeed loved him the moment she saw him.But she was a minor there and that makes her vulnerable and a victim of patriarchy.I think they changed the plot to rape is for making her more vulnerable as show Daenerys is an adult)

      @krishnaprasad1874 Před 4 lety +2

@P S It never glorifies or normalise the act.It portrays as such.Just like Cersei and Jaime relation. It is not trying to glorify incest,it shows incest between them ,because that is necessary for the story. We viewers can definitely say it's a wrong thing from their side after watching that. The show focuses on her character development from a weak woman who fell in love with her rapist to a strong woman who conquered the entire world. Those scenes where necessary for her character development. And at the end she never ends up with her rapist. If she ended up with him, then your point of glorification would have made sense.
And by the way I haven't watched Kabir Singh or Arjun Reddy. So i can't say whether those films are misogynistic or not

But they did romanticise the whole fiasco in Kabir Singh. People are comparing Gangs of wasseypur and Joker with Kabir Singh in the comments and rightly so. But the major difference is they didn't glorify the flaws of the characters with stupid hunky-dory slow music and definitely not love songs.

Kabir Singh was such an entertaining movie why so much fuss about it
If any movie is certified as A means above 18years of age I.e. everyone is grown enough to have their on mind
If they still don't have no one can help them

That’s why I love him, he is has always been very clear in his thoughts and never change his personal opinions conveniently like so called mainstream super stars, movies are business to some and to some it’s a life long passion which they don’t confuse with bloody morality, If I am a good hearted person then no movie/star/actor, can change this trait of my personality and that’s the bottom line.

I agree that kabir slapping preeti was completely wrong.
But In Starting when preeti slapped Kabir then why it is considered as a form of love and cute???
In many movies when women slaps men then why it is considered as cute and love but opposite is abuse??
Example - ending scene of 3 idiots, thor 2 mid scene.
Violence against both genders is wrong and both should be criticised.

Films don’t change society, but they surely influence it. Specially in India. At the end of day I wouldn’t wish anyone be trapped in the toxic relationship that they showed in Arjun Reddy. Man or woman. The fact that so many people loved the character and related to the portrayal of love in the film speaks more about our society than it does of the presence or lack thereof of any artistic merit in the creators of the film.

Movies influence society but you know what else does:
Ceiling fans: ceilings fans might influence people to hang themselves increasing suicide rates in the country
Swimming pools: people might be influenced to jump in pools and later end up drowning
Fire: Some people might play with fire not understanding its consequences, leading to burns and possibly death,
Cars: Cars influence people to drive which leads to some people getting into accidents and possibly death,
Moral of the story: Everything is an influence in the world, hence god has given us a brain to decide what is right and wrong for us 😊
