@Stefan Urban did you watch the video? She started using the saw to saw wood. I'd say that's knowing or at least learning what to do with it.
@Stefan Urban She never intends to cut the wood, she just wants to try the tool out of curiosity. Just like little toddlers would do, at first they would seemingly thrash the tool and bite it to find out what it is and what can u do with it. Then when that toddler finally understands its concept they would try it out repetitively to the point of obsession until they got bored or tired with it. To classify beings as "intelligent", you can't only take account on what they already know, you must also consider how some species react and how do they deal with it. By understanding those things you could have a better grasp of the concept of the evolution of "intelligence".
There is definitely a stupid animal, but it’s not the orangutan.

Totally unnecessary they are not fragile creatures.
Intelligent, loving yes but not at all fragile, I think people underestimate how peaceful Nature is.
Plus she gently touched into her lips. That was her carefully checking it out. After that even when she is sawing while holding with her feet she never comes close to cutting herself. Gorillas will weave nests and Orangutans and other primates regularly use simple tools to crush things and get at insects. That saw is simple enough to master and wouldn't cause major injury even if she slipped.
Knife would have been much more dangerous for her to be playing around with.
She should be wearing safety glasses.
