  • Ulysses' own Jacob Neufeld walks us through the right way to use John Deere's e23 transmission. This transmission takes lots of guess work out of your decision making process. It also helps your operation run more efficiently!

Does your throttle needs to be open all the time and you use your dial to slow down or speed up

Great Question! To run in full auto mode, when you throttle all the way up, it automatically slows your engine speed to 1200 rpm. To let the tractor take complete control in full auto, YES, throttle it all the way up. In other modes, specifically manual mode, NO, it will operate just like a normal throttle. You can use your dial to speed up and slow down if you'd like. You can also use your gear selector or your throttle.

      @@jacobneufeld7304 i have E23 transmission and it's rough.
I can't use full auto mode,it's rough when shifting.
If you don't limit your rpms to 1500 or something the tractor will idle up all the way when you move your throttle all the way up and then takes long time to come down and select gears.
Apparently john deere says nothing wrong with it ,but you will tear stuff up on that machine

First gear reved up is probably .8mph tops

How fast can this transmission go in wide open all gears because we can not get ours to go over 26mph

It also rated for 31 mph

"Speed will depend a lot on tire size but 26 mph is the max speed unless the tractor has the 31mph option. Usually most tractors with the 26mph transmission regardless of e23 or IVT will run a little faster than rated speed, i.e. and 26 will run about 27 mph and the 31 will run about 32.5mph.
I am wondering if somebody has set a speed limit in the display and it will not get to full speed. Also it could be basic transmission settings holding him back a little... this could be the factor of full auto, custom or manual mode.
Does this tractor have a GPS receiver? If so we can always check GPS speed comparing it to the wheel speed, it is possible that the tire sizes were changed at sometime and the rolling radius for the tire needs to be changed for the display to read correct tractor speed.
I may be able to talk him through the settings or if he is not too far away run out and go through the different transmission setting with him." - Dwayne Meyer, Sales
