They’re not standing there bc they’re trained for this, they’re standing there bc they know they’re powerless to do anything and can’t escape. They all huddled up around the cake as far from him as possible bc they all know their best hope of staying alive is to avoid attracting his attention and not piss him off any further in the hopes he may spare them. Almost everyone is scared of Homelander, but ironically nobody ever tries to run from him bc they know it would be absolutely useless, with the exception of last-ditch efforts after he’s already started lasering. You can’t outrun him, you can’t overpower him, you can’t hide from him, and there’s nothing you can put between you two that could stop him (except for the plot). Everyone freezes up anytime he’s in the room to avoid negative attention. Obviously it didn’t work out for them here, but I guarantee it’s all fear and not training

He’d rather just use soulless free AI stuff, which reflects the general trend of society unfortunately

Episode 5 definitely was definitely more enjoyable to me than any of the first 3 episodes.
    SPOILERS FOR S4E5!!!
Loved the genuineness of Homelander's conversations with Ryan, and getting to see Butcher at his psychopathic best. Giancarlo stole almost every scene he was in. Was a bit surprised with how the virus was able to infect and kill the sheep in seconds. Something tells me that this virus won't be the answer to the problem that is Homelander. I strongly feel that Neuman will be the one to go by the end of the season, after being infected with the last dose of the virus left. How do you see it ending?

I respect that u have ur own opinion. But personally this entire season has been a terrible letdown after 3 phenomenal seasons of television. Homelander and butcher are the only characters who’s storyline’s are worth watching for anymore and this episode you talk about had about ten minutes of Homelander. The plot between Hughie and his mother is pointless and doesn’t need to exist at all and brings no benefits to the overall flow of the story. While the Homelander storyline within this episode is entertaining, it really only exists to continue to add awh and shock value to fans. Now the starlight plot between firecracker, oh my god it was awful. Firecracker, being a recently introduced character with no depicted powers or motive (apart from that cheaply written story during her childhood between starlight) really has gained little to no interest from me and I imagine many others. Starlight is a terrible character and whenever she’s on screen I just get filled with dread and regret as to why I ever put on the show, all she seems to do is consistently either complain about butchers presence or cry frantically about anything and everything. Now putting these two awful characters against each other creates no engagement for me personally. I’m honestly glad ur enjoying these recent episodes man because I wish I could. But the show isn’t hitting how it used to and it really shows.

I think the hughe and his mothers part is quite interesting. I dont think we have ever heard of a reference to hughes mother before, and for her to show up when hughies dad had a stroke just adds mystery. Not to mention the fact that in EP.4 at the end of the episode, she injects hughes dad with comp. V, the plot thickens as more episodes are released.
I do agree with you on the starlight/firecracker thing. Starlight is pretty useless and doesnt do pretty much anything remotely interesting.

@@JohnnyCaje I feel like that's the point? She's actually useless, as are most Supes in that universe. Hell it's shown this season that most saves are staged. I think this is setting up something with those characters. I also dislike starlight but I think that's on purpose. They are making us dislike her on purpose and I hope it pays off. We still got a few episodes for these sub plots to start to matter.

i don't understand why all of a sudden you're turning against the show, I think you're just tired of it, it hasn't gotten worse, it's just gone on. Maybe Firecracker and Sage aren't as edgy or powerful as Stormfront or Soldier Boy idk maybe that's why. But doing the same thing over and over again gets old
