    This is the first video in our Algonquin series, recounting our 3-week backcountry canoe trip across Algonquin Park, Canada in the fall of 2019. This was our first portage trip, and as you will soon find out, neither one of us really knew what we were doing. Our route started and ended at Opeongo, stretching up to Brent then back down. This video will take us from Opeongo’s South arm to Happy Isle.

      @@Karamintheworld Most of my Algonquin trips have involved tons of portages except for my Clash of the Seasons one. Most of the time I love exploring the rivers.

      The only canoed on the Petawawa and the Madawaska I believe (You can see it in our route map). But it definitely seems more interesting to be within the closed spaces, probably more activity around.
      What's the longest trip you've done into the park?

    • @NobleEndeavours123
      @NobleEndeavours123 Před 3 lety

      @@Karamintheworld You flatter me! :) My longest trip has been 15 days in Algonquin however I've done around 20 trips (need to count them sometime). A lot of my camping experience came from bicycle touring - 37 days riding around Lake Superior for example. Remember experience is all relative and depends a lot on what happens on any specific trip. I heard the average trip in Algonquin is 3 or 4 days now compared to months long 100 years ago. That means your one trip is equivalent to 6 modern day trips however you have the extra bonus of longer continuous duration which has it's own impact.
      I like your trips because you share the emotional rollercoaster which I personally think is a critical part of what makes the best trips the ones that we remember so vividly!
      Thank-you for sharing your experiences!

    • @NobleEndeavours123
      @NobleEndeavours123 Před 3 lety

      If you want an example of one trip that had a bit more pain and suffering. A buddy of mine, Bob, and I were supposed to spend 8 days in the park in a tandem canoe. The first day was beautiful and sunny. The next 6 rained continuously. On day seven we were on White trout lake. We left the park at access point 4, Rain Lake, that night, in the dark. We covered a huge distance and 10+ portages. It represents our biggest single day travel. Of course it also stuck in our mind so on our next trip we didn't plan for the shorter of days we should have..... grin - enter some learning and suffering!
