    As a truck driver for 30 years, I'm appalled at the two incidents where the driver wasn't cited or charged. The first one being the truck draging the car up the pass. There is no way that driver didn't know he was dragging that car, the back corner of your trailer is one of the most visible areas in your flat mirror. The trucker that ran the ride share driver off the road and then rear ended him should have been, at a minimum, charged with reckless driving and had his CDL revoked.

    • @steadholderharrington9035

      As a fellow truck driver of 30+ years experience (and no incidences of my causing), with regards to that truck dragging the car up the hill, any competent CDL'd driver can literally feel when something is not going smoothly in the truck they're driving. We also do periodic wiggle checks to clear our draft and see what's immediately behind us (never know if Smokey might be there clocking your speed), never mind seeing the back corner of our trailers.

      i'm not even a truck driver, but that second driver should have been arrested for attempted vehicular manslaughter, or at least assault with a deadly weapon, as he was using that truck as a weapon. • @kenwalters4858
      @kenwalters4858 Před měsícem +2

      Freezing rain is one of the worst driving conditions, so many AWD vehicles on the road don't realize that the vehicle won't stop any better. When all 4 wheels lock up the vehicle feels like it speeds up. I remember going down a hill that was all ice having the wheels locking and the truck started to go faster, finally after getting into first gear getting off the brakes the truck starts to feel like it is slowing down. Iced overed roads with wheels locked you lose any braking and steering control, and the sliding vehicle does whatever it wants to do. Always good to see what your vehicle will do in ice when you see an empty iced over parking lot, use it to try out the vehicle ability and how it will perform, better to know then to learn then in a couple of seconds as it happens for the first time. After seeing what the vehicle does will slow many drivers down.

      andre is bending the story a lot I bet here is why. andre is a lying pos. There was something that happened before he started showing the video. So, the truck just passed him and he HAD to pass it? That is a sign of an egotistical ashshole and you know he is a LIAR because at 16:05 he tries to say he saw an opening where the truck was FULLY in the right lane so he went to pass. The trucks inner dually was not even over the center lane! Did andre forget we could see the video? There is a lot more to this where he (or maybe the truck) started something before we are brought into it. If it WAS the truck he would have showed it. He did not. So it is safe to say that andre is lying about when it really started too.

    That dump truck accident makes me so mad. That driver knew his brakes were out, he couldn't control his speed down the hill. As far as I know one is to shift down until the engine can control the speed…. on a slope like this you might have to shift down to 2nd or 3rd gear… you descent WITHOUT using the brakes!!!!
      So even if the brakes were failing in this situation right here, the truck would’ve been at a much slower speed at the bottom of the hill!!!
      Pretty sure, EVEN if the brakes were not ok, this is a driver’s mistake….
      But more likely there was nothing wrong with the brakes until this driver fried them to melting temperature on his way downhill….
      If you doubt my words; please note the cloud of smoke around the truck as he hits the car….
      Smoke from overheated brakes….
      By the way I am grateful for the footage and information you supply; another channel showing this accident was far less informative!!

    • @katokagome4670
      @katokagome4670 Před měsícem +2

      It could still happen, if he was riding his brakes and caused brake fade, no amount of air pressure or spring pressure would stop it. But that being said, he should have used his air horn, even with very little air pressure, that would still work. Also, yes, you are correct, pre-trip AND simple trucking knowledge would have saved this from happening. Stay in a low gear and use the jakes, and if you have an engine fan switch use that also.

The city or train company should have to pay her and the trucker since they apparently don’t have a scenario in place to prevent the bars from raising if the time between the two trains is less than what a car needs to cross. I hope this trucker’s cam was entered into evidence to prove it wasn’t her fault.

      I dont think they can.
      If the road is ice and even if the truck is going about 5 mph at first, the downhill and weight of the truck will cause it to pick up speed and momentum which could be very hard or impossible to stop as it requires an amount of brake pressure to prevent the wheels locking up WHILE also being enough to slow down the truck (This is easy for cars to do, but could've been impossible for the truck.)
      Even if the driver found the brake pressure that keeps the wheels from locking (lets say 50% pressure), that 50% could not be enough to slow down the truck ESPECIALLY because its downhill.
      So you could be wrong. But of course if there was an opportunity of this "fine line" of brake pressure I'm referring to, yes, the truck driver would need to be skilled in order to find it, although he would've needed additional stopping distance and might've still hit those cars (I don't know how far back the truck was).
