- The adventure that changed my life... In 2022 I thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and made a film to share my experience.
The places I got to see and the people I met are something I will cherish forever. Thank you to all the strangers, trail angels and other hikers that made this journey what is was. I have always been a lover of hiking and the outdoors but this trail made me feel a way I have never felt before and I think I will be chasing that feeling for the rest of my life.

It took me about 3 days to watch this in my freetime. And it left me with an overwhelming feeling of emptiness in my life. The void of excitement and adventure. Id do almost anything for an adventure like this.
Get out there! It doesn't take long to plan and you can go at your own pace!

this is exactly how i felt when i watched my first AT thru-hike film. so i decided to just go for it. in the evenings after work i go to a local trail, on the weekends i take 6-8 mile hikes in the CVNP to start small and dream big for a thru-hike or even small section hikes of the AT, PCT, CDT, however many i can fit in in my life. the hardest part of the biggest adventures is getting started! do it! you'll never regret it
This video needs a million more views! It’s THE best PCT video/doco I’ve seen, out of dozens of them. Jack you’re a legend (and fellow Aussie to boot!). The footage of the trails, the views, other hikers, food, interactions with trail angels is second to none. Your commentary throughout gives the viewer an amazing insight into the ups and downs of your journey. I take my hat off to you. Great video, editing and music. Simply superb!! 🇦🇺🌱⛈️☀️🏔️⛺️

25 years ago I hiked thru Europe for 4 months. From my hometown in the Netherlands to Nice on the Mediterranean Sea (GR5). What an epic adventure that was. And although I have always continued to hike, I have never embarked on such a journey again.
I regret that. Although I also know that's how live goes. Now after 25 years, a knee replacement, increasing fear of heights and chronic back problems, your film brings back that feeling from then: what it's like to live in the middle of that overwhelming scenery. And just do your thing. It made me cry a little.
Partly because of your film, I am starting to realize that the time has come for me to start a new thruhike. The PCT is what I dream about. My body is not as strong as it used to be, and I experience vertigo as a major obstacle. But I feel now that it;s all just part of the journey.
'All it asks is the wish to live a little'.

@@JackScottkeogh thanks, me too. I know that well, but I got Lyme disease so as much as I'd love to be out there now I am not there yet. it's a slow incremental process, but I've built back up over years to 100 miles and I'm grateful for that. the trail keeps me pushing forwards.

I’m a random South African who did a little 6 day hike with a bunch of priceless people, one of whom did the PCT. All her stories stuck with me and it’s so nice to have the scene set. Congratulations on your achievement, so good to get a walk in hey.

I am speachless. I watched this video in one go and I cannot find the words to describe the mixed emotions I felt from begining to end. In fact, when I saw the picture of you at the begining and at the end of your journey I found myself in tears. Amazing is nothing compared to your experience. I seem to be in the minority here but the music was a little too high-energy and constant through the documentary, sometimes making it feel like one big music video where there could be more of those moments of silent wilderness and quiet conversations with the people you meet. I'm glad you inspire people to get out on the trail, I just hope they understand the PCT is a struggle and comes with a lot of responsibility. All that aside... these were some of the prettiest shots I've seen of the trail, and I appreciated your positive attitude and sense of humor all throughout the journey. It takes an insane amount of work to make something like this, so thanks for sharing!

Jack, what hit me the most about your film was your beautiful outgoing spirit, and the very positive demeanor of your fellow PCT hikers. You put great music to your campaign, music that complimented the nature of your experience. I've watched many of the PCT documentary videos - yours is as good as any of the others. What I found awesome (apart from the entire video) was just how many people are residents near to the PCT that help hikers out, they are totally awesome.
Oh absolutely! The trail wouldn't be the same without them.. that's half the experience

Thank you for this beautiful film! You captured and conveyed life on trail incredibly well. It brings a tear to my eye every time I see someone who appreciates the trail as much as you reach the Northern Terminus. I remember clearly when my hand touched that monument all I wanted was to do it again. Oh, how you wish it would never end, but here it is. What a beautifully bittersweet moment. Gorgeous film, so personal and so heartfelt. Probably my favorite final shot of a PCT video--the monument with the rain quietly coming down. Awesome physical, emotional, and soulful achievement. I will be doing the Washington section (my home state) next year.

4270 km of terrain that SCREAMS a catastrophic global flood creating the laying down of sedimentary layers and the bending and uprising thereof by catastrophic volcanism and plate techtonics over a relatively short period of time. Very well done Jack condensing that much time into 90mins....awesome!
Life on the trail is magical, an adventure around every corner. Enjoy as many of those moments as you can while you can. The years catch up with you sooner than you realize.

Well, that brought all kinds of feels. It evokes a longing for the hard terrain, the breath taking beauty of nature, the bond that the trails brings. I have only ever done small 12 days hikes in NM. Love your outlook on the trail my friend. Great video. I ended my first attempt in idylwild back in 19. I will be at it again this comming march, but this time with my 11 year old son! Videos like yours help get him pumped and excited about the trail. One of his biggest excitements are the people he will meet so your video just reassured that for him. Thanks for sharing!

I can never get enough of the PCT videos. Thanks for sharing your experience. Each person has their own tale to tell. A friend of mine from Adelaide also successfully hiked it in 2022. I originally met her in Yosemite over 10 years ago.

I worked the Pct as a Cal state park ranger in 78 at Idyllwild. Was 16 for the YCC
I lived there in the summers too. Where my dad resided.
