  • In today's adventure I managed to convince my old man and my buddy Mike to drive a couple hours out of town to dig out a classic 57 Chevy. This old hot rod was put together 30+ years ago and then abandoned in a farmers field.
It's got all sorts of cool old school goodies, 327 with a th400, vintage gauges, slappers bars ect.
She's a little rough around the edges but we do our best to get this old girl running and driving again! What do you think we should do with this old hot rod? Make sure to leave a comment below.

Special thanks to my old man and buddy Mike for battle the tall grass and ticks with me.

Something that sits that long I would have dumped oil down each cylinder so that way lubricate everything from sitting so long and it won't cause problems later on . Also would have probably took the valve covers off before actually running it since it would turn over and stop like that. Could really done some damage to the pistons or valves by maken it run when one is stuck or sticking . Main thing too i would have gotten oil pressure to it good before actually running it , she wasn't happy at all .

I know some of us--me included--have a "I'll get to that later", and then life gets in the way. But back in the day, a 4 door was a parts car, when the only catalog for "restoration" parts was J.C Whitney :) so we're lucky this thing lasted this long. I live on the east coast, it doesn't take long for brakes to rust solid and require wheel dollies to move. Meanwhile the interior turns into a greenhouse and makes for some gross mildew/mold---you really wouldn't drive home any car you found in a field, unless you want a cough that never goes away without a trip to the ER.

IMO the plastic coupler on the distributor shaft probably broke away and the oil pump stopped pumping. Which explains why you lost oil pressure. I've seen this lots of times after a SBC has sat for a long time. Its a simple fix and you'll be rock and rolling in no time. Keeping it stock I think is the way to go but after all its yours. one notch in the flywheel at a time until I got to half way and she was fine and a very strong engine which ran all the time I had the car just great .......I would do the 2dr convert to this one she looking so good and looks like always wanted to be a 2dr ..Lols

Great pick up mate. I know u like 2 doors but i reckon leave this one a 4 door and put a big block in it. Change the seats, and leave the patina. Looks surprisingly good for rust after being in that long grass 👍

Man! That brings back some childhood memories. My Gramps had one just like that, same color, four-door of course it didn’t have a 327 in it! Myself and three of my driving age cousins tried our best to get Gramps to sell it to one of us. He told us all no, Didn’t want any of us to get mad at each other or him for that matter. Pretty smart guy. Next thing we all knew the 57 was gone and he was driving an olds F 85😀I’m sure you’ll get it fixed up with no worries I’ll be watching
