Beautiful palace. I couldn't help but wonder if some of the scenes from Magnificent Century were filmed on location there. Still amazing what they don't teach in schools, or never used to.

I was blessed to visit Istanbul as a child and remember bits and pieces of the palace. Its in credible, as are the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. It really is a beautiful city. Yes, it is sad about schools. So much they don't teach.

For Gods sake stop saying Ottoman empire, the name has never existed, NEVER used.
It was Devlett-i Aliyye-i Osmaniyye in Mehmets time ,soon after him official name is and has always been Devletti Aliyye-i .
Ottoman name has created by German historian to deny Turks has conquering the Roman empire in 1453 and Taking over as Sultanate of Rome! read, open archives of official correspondence to see what Turks and Empire called themselves.
