About reading numbers to tell the time, I remember that when I was at University (in 1989 )and some of us would do that, my British teacher would remark: in proper Emglish! To mean : say it in proper Emglish.
All lamguages evolve in time and the simplest use tends to prevail.
However I was taught the traditional way and tende to use that.
I use the other way when Im referring to timetables details
The 9:20 train
The 8:50 lesson etc.
So I am not totally outdated :)...
Sure in 1989. There were no smartphones back then. ☺️

1) From 1 to 10 minutes in usa they say for instance 8.05.... 8 o 5... 0 as o
