    The main problem with baseball is that home runs are your most prevalent scoring play by far. It dumbs down the game and sucks a lot of the intrigue out of it.

    • @fomori2
      @fomori2 Před 3 lety +3

      The problem of being "dumbed down" isnt because of the home runs.... it is really because of the fans.
      All major sports; NBA, MLB, NFL have moved from being a sporting contest that entertain fans to entertainment that also happens to be a sporting contest, and they attract two different types of fans. The former gets people who care about the little things, the skills of players, the fundamentals, etc. The latter ONLY cares about their own excitement level and needs to get their dopamine rush constantly.
      Thus the sports have to change their games to cater to those vapid fans because morons are the majority, and are easily parted of their money.

    • @kadennelms8419

      @@fomori2 best way of putting it. At the end of the day the leagues are businesses. They have to go after the demographic to get the big bucks. Real fans of sports usually enjoy college games more. The kids are trying to prove themselves at that level and it’s funded for school prestige.

    Here are my ideas that could solve MLB problems:
    1) Reduce the amount of innings to 7......tie games recorded after bottom of the 9th inning in regular season games
    2) Allow flexibility with the starting lineup in terms of switching and/or substituting players within the batting order during a game
    3) End the regular season by the last week of August
    4) 16 team playoffs with 7 game series in each round

    The reason they aren't announcing it is simple. It's not the umpires themselves doing the review, it's guys back at the MLB headquarters in New York. The umps don't always know why the replay call is made.

  • @aaronstreitenberger6012
    @aaronstreitenberger6012 Před 3 lety +1

    Umpiring isn't as big of a deal to fans as you think. I am more concerned with the Astro non-punishment, three outcomes baseball, and the fact that only 4 or 5 teams actually have a shot every year. Angel Hernandez has nothing to do with whether or not HR K BB K K is exciting to watch. Joe West doesn't have anything to do with the fact that Jose Altuve is still playing baseball. Instant replay doesn't affect the competitive balance of the sport. Baseball's problem is that it doesn't care about the game outside of NY, LA, and Atlanta.

    Dear Mr. Eisen, although I am not an ardent baseball but rather football fan (odd insofar I am Venezuelan) I beg to differ from your opinion about baseball umpires in this particular video. In my opinion, baseball and football are two historically distinctive and different idiosincracies and hence I fail to see the point in demanding that baseball umpires conduct themselves in a manner inconsistent with the game´s idiosincracy. If the core of the matter is assisting umpires in order to prevent errors such as the once depicted at home plate, I believe there are enough technological tools (i.e. a vertical sky cam above home plate) to solve this controversy.
