Seems like everyone likes their camp in the heartlands, I've always preferred camp in the great plains with my moonshine shack in tall trees. That way they're nice and close to each other and the hunting is great in the plains. There's 2 cougar spawn points near by and tons of deer
Same place I generally post up. Grinding animals in that location seems to be easy because deer and pronghorns are everywhere, and the trader runs never seem too difficult either. Being able to hit up my moonshine shack quickly when that's ready for a run is also helpful, and Harriet is close by MacFarlane's Ranch if you want to run to her and do legendary animal missions.
@@samverick when your goods are ready move the camp to gaptooth ridge and run it from there. Farthest you'll go is usually MacFarlane ranch. Then after the run you can move camp back to great plains 👍
Not gonna lie, I was thinking of doing that aswell mainly because it was restricted in the story but then that's where most of the epilogue takes place and I really like it now. There's that and during the introduction, my character was on the way to Blackwater and my camp was set up in Great Plains and when I eventually start my Moonshiner business, I was gonna put it in Tall Trees because it's close to my camp.
Fastest legendary missions are the gator and elk. After that, the quicker ones are ram and beaver. Highest payouts on pelts will be golden bear, bison, cougar, and buck.
Picked the game up a few weeks back - loads of fun, sad to see its not getting updated anymore. Silver lining i suppose is helpful guides like this that are almost a year old aren't out of date, so they're still extremely helpful and good to have.
When you level up the trader role there is a skill you get for getting more value from 3 star pelts and carcasses. Also 1/2 (7) of Harriet's Legendary animal missions the pelts are worth double than other ones she has. These one have value in excess of $50 for trader. All free roam Legendary have crappy value compared to her lowest value ones.
Since the video is titled (most efficient) you should bring up the rate at which Cripps turns materials in to goods. By giving him nothing but ledgendery will speed up the time to 100 goods. Also all of Harriet missions require skinning, make sure you have room in your wagon or the table.
9:35 a perfect whitetail buck is 12.50 materials 10:44 a perfect cougar is 16.88 and a great spawn area is north of Annesburg on the train tracks Grab some small game arrows and spend some time shooting squirrels, with a carcass you can sell it, or break it down, for meat, pelt, carcass and tail. These are good if Cripps wants a perfect squirrel pelt or donations or carcasses in a time limit for a daily challenge!

Hunting Quails is good, put 30 in you satchel and for the perfect is 3.44 each. You can find them in the Great plains and Heartlands. Also if you kill a good one with the bow it turns to perfect, when you pick it up. 30 X 3.44 fills up Cripps.
Another thing to note is that when you do buy a trader wagon, you can put unlimited pelts in it. This can be useful if you need to hold off on giving Cripps some materials because he's nearly full, or you just have too much good stuff in the back of your wagon that you don't want to trash, or you just need to toss a 1 or 2 star pelt in the back after you've shot a bunch of 3 star animals.
Fun fact moose no longer spawn at all. I went through 48 irl hours looking in all locations at all times of the day to never see any. I believe that when rockstar updated the game so theres no invisible walls it messed up animal spawns and now moose dont spawn and neither do rats. Rats you can hear but you cant see or track em. Way to go rockstar

Just started playing red dead online yesterday. Beat the story mode 3 times. Decided to give Gta online a little break and try this. Bought the trader for a first business. I'm getting hooked very quickly to the online mode. Thanks for the info. Felt a bit lost but now I get it!
good video. BUT you needed to list 2 or 3 animals separately as being the best carcasses for the 2 SADDLE SLOTS on your horse. after all, your horse isn't "full" until those slots are taken. without testing i'd say the top 2 animals for those slots are jackrabbit and muskrat. maybe some of the swamp birds or eagles etc are worth more than a muskrat, like i said, i haven't tested. but the jackrabbit is the king of the saddle slot.
I just go to harriet. Get a mission to sample a legendary animal, then kill it, and take its skin back to camp. 7-10 minutes and ive got a full trader inventory.
From harriet you cant take the whole body you have to skin. Most Material give the white ghost panther almost a half Material bar and he is in the area around the moonshine shack scarlet meadows side
its wierd bu i get a bit higher than this, example is deer and pronghorn , I always get perfect for 8 material value, and white tail buck for 12.5 value. my role is caped.
I mostly stick to the forest and just hunt buck and deer in abundance. Cumberland or tall trees. I actually prefer Cumberland a bit more right now bec it’s close to buffalo to.
This is a great overview and I wish I came across a video like this when I was just starting the trader role. I especially like its focus on efficiency because the videos I saw focused on cougars or something close due to their high value but I couldn't really farm them efficiently like I can with deer or pronghorns nearby my camp. I mostly figured out some of this information over time just by playing but admittedly I didn't know a lot about some of the animals like the panthers yet. I just started the naturalist role and kind of loathe Harriet but I think it will be worthwhile once I can start some of the legendary animal missions.
A quick tip for people who want to do legendary animal hunts, if you happen to come by a random 3 star normal animal, lassoing and stabbing it will not piss her off.
I'm at Great Plains, i love it, dears, hogs , cougars near my camp and the bison heard just across the road and elks nearby the forest at Tall Trees, the best place in my opinion. I dont't have the hunting wagon yet, but i carry one perfect carcass on my back, one perfect longhorn or cougar carcass on my horse and one tied with the lasso.
I like the great plais by blackwater. Right under the p is a bison spawn. Bolt action rifle. Right in the eye, and circle them between kills to keep thrm from despawning. A wagon fill third a third of a bar
Moment I call for my hunting wagon all animals vanish, then when I call out my wagon they all start crawling out , out of their hidin’ spots, did that happened to you brother ?
The best way to fill cripps is to always be shooting birds and skin them, specifically birds with plumes: heron, egret, spoonbill. These fill trader with a ton of material and most importantly, you keep them in your pocket and don’t have to rush off to deliver a huge pelt or carcass…

The flight feathers, duck/goose feathers, game meat, and plump meat sold to the butchers fills up the 1000 parts donated fast for that little bit of gold and the animal fat from those 2 birds is great for explosives and way faster than killing boars/pigs.
Its crazy... in all my time in RDO, and in my 3rd play of the story mode... i have never had a non-predator animal attack me. Never been rammed by a deer or moose or anything. I am actually disapointed cus its funny. I had a muskrat turn on me cus I kicked it, thats it.

"If you're going to do legendary animals ONLY do legendary animals".. because she doesnt have a problem with you killing them, but she can long distance sniff you out for killing ALL others and breaks the progression with her if you do naturalist?
Talking to Harriet and not getting sprayed breaks her anger meter, so to speak. So, if you do the legendary animal miosions for her, and kill them instead of sampling them, and then immediately go back to her for another mission, she will never spray you, because it won't be enough to piss her off in one go. Its the way i maintained my trader role while leveling up my naturalist role to max.

I always hunt and then right before I go to Harriet I sedate and sample an animal and she never seems to get mad at me anymore. That first few times were so annoying but I haven’t had problems since I do this.
Not sure where that list is from but a perfect elk pelt is worth 8.13 materials with max trader role also a perfect moose pelt is worth 9.38 trader materials for me! as well as everything on that list is worth way more for me
I was about to make the same comment. I get much more materials than is being reported in the video. I skinned a perfect Grizzly Bear last night and I'm pretty sure it gave me 8.xx materials. Helpful info but I'm thinking the material value is incorrect.
Mathematically, nearly every materials value reported in the video is 25% less than the value Cripp's gives you. Maybe there's a "Cripp's Tax" on each carcass that I've just never paid attention to?
I got trader like a month ago and haven’t really levelled it up. I find it very hard to find animals to kill and by the time I’ve got 2 perfect carcasses and some skins it’s been like 30 mins. It’s just so boring and so time consuming.
i cannot confirm if it's true, but APPARENTLY free roam legendary creatures can spawn if you don't have naturalist. just very rarely. this could be a bug. EDIT, also if you pay attention you'll notice that you receive %10 less materials for legendary animals than is indicated in the trader menu. Cripps is a thief.
what i like to do is hunt the white tail bucks in heart lands but when i do find any i just head to emerald ranch and kill the cows and sheep over there they give good
You said you can use the missions to kill the legendary animals to fill your camp. I've tried 2 of them and you cant do that. When you damage the animal from the mission too much it will auto fail the mission and you get Nothing
I always put my camp in tall trees near the lake since most deer and elk plus bears are seen there. However, if you give the pelts to cribbs do you get money as well??
Just Get the Naturalist and a Hunting Wagon. You can store pelts and Farm Harriett missions for The legendary Animal Pelts. Takes less than 10 minutes Is 7 out of 12 missions. You’ll get nothing less Than $35.28 and the most you can get $65 in Materials and these are all skins. That will put your materials back at Half for your trader wagon. No need to go searching for these terrible time consuming pelts
Just kill aligators near lemoyne. They dont walk. Dont move. Dont attack mostly. Some birds spawn around. Frogs are easy spot on mud. Even without hunting wagon you are much faster than walking anywhere on map. Guide as precise it is. It has flaws. In each location and animal there is if-then. Crockodiles are easiest. No offense to guide content creator
I just hang in the Bayou hunting everything and getting as much gators as I can with perfect pelts and average and skin the rest cause their teeth add up.
i just go to the farm north of valentine beyond stables and kill the 3 or 2 star sheep by lasso and knife them fill wagon take it back to camp quickest and easiest

yup, he forgot about the saddle slots. 3 star rabbits and 3 star muskrats. you don't really need the muskrats if you're good at popping rabbits with the varmint, tho, they're absolutely everywhere.
When you start running full loads of goods you make role xp really fast. If you want I'll take you on a trade run, you'll get 2500 xp and $312.50 per run.
Why you giving away the best spots? Lol.. Thank you for this, they made it difficult online with only 2 animal locations noted on the map. unlike in story where they show most of em 😵😣
don't forget the legendary cougar spawn that's near one of those regular cougar spawns. i base myself out of Lemoyne but i look for him every time i'm passing through the plains.

I generally donate bison pelts for the most part but sometimes I find panthers and donate them as well to cripps
I only use poor chipmunk. Strictly the poorest chipmunks. Builds character, makes you appreciate that wagon.

You may as well say I live in the great plains when I play it dose tend to be a griefer hotspot at times on Xbox dont know about other platforms

I've found that the free roam ghost panther corpse is perhaps the best way to fill my trader

That is a great point. I like to use mine to store legendary animal pelts if i have a full trader table. that way i don't risk losing them.
If you mean the hunting wagon, then it does NOT hold unlimited pelts. 50 small/medium is the max plus (i think) 10 big pelts
I use the hunting wagon, and hunt cows, buffalo, or gators. That way I can fill up the wagon in a minute or two.
That is the only way i will use my hunting wagon. Because then it makes sense, plus i can usually take out the herd first, and then get the wagon.

I usually just put my camp in the heartlands and hunt whitetails and pronghorns on my horse. Two at a time, just carcasses. Fills it up in no time.
Yep, thats me too. It seems the least intrusive, and in 10-20 minutes, i have filled it up all the way from 0.

I usually hunt in the Heartlands, I manage to kill a lot of White tail and Buffalo. I assume the buffalo give a pretty good yield of parts.

Full panther, cougar and whitetail buck carcasses. Perfect conditions. Done. Legendary animal carcasses, obviously, also.

One time I was hunting and it started to rain and at least 25 white tail deer ran through the valley I was in. Has this happened to anyone else

Just get to level 5 on the Naturalist role and start donating legendary animal skins...You get like 40 materials just but donating one

I've tried 2 of them and you cant do that. When you damage the animal from the mission too much
it will auto fail the mission and you get Nothing
I think all animal units are half of what I actually says ie: pronghorn buck 12.5=6.25 materials.. the 12.5 = $$ if you sell it to butcher
I always put my camp in tall trees near the lake since most deer and elk plus bears are seen there. However, if you give the pelts to cribbs do you get money as well??
Am I wrong in thinking I get more for a perfect carcass from the butcher vs giving to Cripps??
Just Get the Naturalist and a Hunting Wagon. You can store pelts and Farm Harriett missions for The legendary Animal Pelts. Takes less than 10 minutes Is 7 out of 12 missions. You’ll get nothing less Than $35.28 and the most you can get $65 in Materials and these are all skins. That will put your materials back at Half for your trader wagon. No need to go searching for these terrible time consuming pelts

Just kill aligators near lemoyne. They dont walk. Dont move. Dont attack mostly. Some birds spawn around. Frogs are easy spot on mud. Even without hunting wagon you are much faster than walking anywhere on map. Guide as precise it is. It has flaws. In each location and animal there is if-then. Crockodiles are easiest. No offense to guide content creator

i just go to the farm north of valentine beyond stables and kill the 3 or 2 star sheep by lasso and knife them fill wagon take it back to camp quickest and easiest

How do you just use the trader wagon? I thought you had to buy one?
Call it in and hunt like normal, take the carcasses to the back of the wagon and it’ll give you a button to hold in order to store it on there

Usually if your wagon gets destroyed you get less money but I never seen 200 bucks after a long or short distance

Trader is slow af to level when first starting but once you get the medium wagon it really starts to take off
When you start running full loads of goods you make role xp really fast. If you want I'll take you on a trade run, you'll get 2500 xp and $312.50 per run.

Great plains is the place I hunt. You have 2 cougar spawns a crap ton of dear. Cougar n deer are the best to get

don't forget the legendary cougar spawn that's near one of those regular cougar spawns. i base myself out of Lemoyne but i look for him every time i'm passing through the plains.
@@dflkfhgpoidsfhg bison are the worst things ive found for filling the camp.big doesnt equal more goods for cripps..Jackrabbit and muskrat are just as good and spawn more frequently. i can carry enough animals in my satchel to not hunt for several days..ive run over a 1000 trader runs in the game and i love the hunting as well myself
