Living Moss Brick (Satisfying and Relaxing Build)

- In this one, I transform a few standard bricks into a living moss brick. The idea is that it's always being watered, which provides a great growing medium for the plants. Everything I've selected can grow well and thrive in this type of environment.

I had so much fun making this project and I think the result looks incredible. I can only imagine what it will look like in a few months. Check out the playlist linked below for more builds like this. czcams.com/play/PLGPT1t4CqpfiCDo--iila7n1ha3f6TF3W.html
Thanks Tanner!!
Nice video, Bob moss
How do you come up with these ideas
Hey Tanner nice video. I was asking that how do you get that glue off of your hands? (13:37)
I recently built an aquarium and I struggled so hard to rub that silicon glue off of my fingers!
I liked the unique video style for this one. Great job!
And here I was thinking he was just going to stack bricks up and use moss as morter. Well done sir
I was coming to say the same think 😂
If you think so ... you're new to the channel 😎
It was this comment that made me go ‘well okay then guess I gotta watch this whole video now’
The same... 😅😅😅
But he did nothing else rly
Beautiful. Inspiring. I would love to see this again after it naturally ages after 6-8months later. Please can you do a follow up video. This is soo beautiful.
Agreed!
Cant wait to see the results after few months of developments
In for the update!
Here for the update?
Waiting on the Update
This young man is incredibly meticulous and diligent in everything he does. His workshop and bench is as organised and clean as an operating theatre! It seems there is nothing he can’t make or do! The care he shows for his tools, equipment, his project and the artistry in dressing this feature is truly impressive. He’s a natural!
Except when he started cutting hose, barehanded. I feared for his fingers. Should have done the cutting on the work bench.
While I agree, he did also carve into his desk several times with the exacto lol
@@krystalbel1417 if you’re referring to when he cut the PVC sheet, that’s a utility knife, and he was at his workbench. That’s what workbenches are for! 😊😊
This is why my husband and I love watching his videos. His attention to detail is outstanding!!! I’ll bet his teachers LOVED him! LOL
I think my favorite thing about Tanner’s work is that in the front of his mind is always what’s best for the animal and what will make it happy, healthy, and thrive. You have to respect that!
I'm actually a big fan of this style of editing. I love the energetic builds you do as well, but its nice having the calm video with no narration.
It’s definitely an interesting switch once in awhile, but I always appreciate his explanations about what he’s working on and how he decided on it, the materials, plants, and whichever livestock he’s using.
True asmr!!
Mate. Maaaaate. Just outstanding. I WANT IT!!! My only teeny, tiny issue is the plastic tub, I think it would look even better if it were painted black. Or any colour really, just to disguise the fact it's a plastic tub really. But the bricks - genius pal. I love it. Big love from a horrible, wet Scotland.
I was thinking a shallow glass tank and add good fish. Would remind me of the gold fish living in the abandon building
@@swat486 Yh I remember seeing that.
This one is like a diorama. It's awesome.
I was thinking the same. But with pebbles so he can still add the moss on top.
I was thinking a square terracotta planter
Gently lit would look amazing
It´s funny that he wrote 'Satisfying and Relaxing Build' in the title, even though each of his videos is relaxing and satisfying to watch. :D
When he titles them Satisfying and Relaxing he means that he isn’t going to do any kind of commentary.
Idk. I got quite edgy when he kept retrimming tubing @ 7:20ish
Algorithm.
My mans does not even need to put it in the title for it to be satisfying
just cutting the bricks will drive me hysterical !
This is the Bob Moss-iest video yet! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the make process in this laid back way. Keep up the wonderful work, Tanner!
HAHAH A Bob Moss, he's got his new ASMR channel name picked out already
Bob moss FTW
The water dripping is just the perfect sound
Saw the thumbnail and thought that Ann Reardon had baked a brick cake at first.
Oh I love Ann Reardon!
@@rein7526 me to!
@@rein7526 she's a dose of wholesome I can always count on.
Never heard of her..
@@ballisticbadger9955 look her up, her channel is called How To Cook That and is an absolute joy. I especially love her debunking videos.
I'm eye-ballin' the small stack of bricks in my yard and seriously contemplating a trip to the hardware store. I love all of your builds, but glass cutting and custom building terrariums is a bit intimidating. I love that you also give us small, pre-made terrarium ideas as well as cool projects like this! You're the best, Tanner!
My favorite by far! I was actually moved to tears by the memories flooding my mind of my childhood in England. The red brick, moss, ivy, and simulated rain are like a time warp into my past. Thank you Tanner for the brilliant idea and creativity.
The perfect moss bricks sandwich ^^ would love to see this after several months again :)
instant clicking when I saw this
Same🤩
Right? Dang man, this is COOL!
CZcams needs a standing O button.
I can not even begin to express my gratitude for this inspiration. The idea, in its "complex simplicity" will fulfill so many needs and desires within my capabilities, limitations, and financial considerations. While I have always been an admirer of your talents, this example is enthralling. "Thank you" is not enough - no amount of gushing and fawning would be enough to give voice to my very sincere gratitude. Be assured that I will acknowledge the inspiration for what I feel will become an admired addition to my home and lifestyle. So, in closing - THANK YOU!!
Can an ASMR build become a thing? It needs to be. This was so relaxing. Cheers to you
This is as close as it's going to get without devolving into ASMR.
Look up asu on yt if you like asmr builds
Tanner (Serpa) does have an ASMR video he made sometime last year or the year before
@@dream.fiiend thank you!
@@FatesxofxthexDead thanks - going straight there after this
Serpadesign just won the heart of the cottagecore movement
my advice would be to watch this video in 2X
Like the experiment of the silence. It’s just as good as commentary
Shhhhhhh,lmaooo.
I see this happening out in nature so I'm so happy you replicated it.
'nature' (or what I prefer to call 'life') doesn't need superglue, plastic pipe, polystyrene boards, electric pumps and silicone sealant . It's very pretty and meticulously created but not actually a replication of nature and I feel very sad to see all the comments here that suggest it is. I hope it inspires people to go out and look for this in natural spaces and to do all they can to keep those places alive and healthy too.
@@millycarmichael9331 🙄
@@millycarmichael9331 While this is true, just cause it doesn't happen exactly the same way as nature doesn't mean it isn't a replication of it, you could say it's an attempt at recreating it to the best degree possible.
I love this! I'd love to make a larger scale piece to go into my unused fireplace with a growlight. 💖
Oh, I'm already excited for updates about this one!
Everybody’s gangster until the oak leaf creeping fig appears 🥰🌱
Best comment 😂
Who can take 4 bricks, silicone, and other various odds and ends, plus a few plants and turn them into a stunning work of living art.... Tanner can, that's who!!!
This would be so cool, when I spent time in Virginia I saw walls like this in old Petersburg and I think it'd be so neat to see a bioactive terrarium with this as the entire backdrop/scape and have it be for a corn snake in a abandoned building
I created my first terrarium last month. It's nowhere compared to the kind of stuffs you make. But I wanna thank you for being such an inspiration. Hopefully, I'll be able to create more. Thank you, Tanner. Much love from the Philippines.
Spent 30 mins watching you caulk bricks. Somehow am so entertained by it. Youre a wizarrrdd, you never cease to amaze me with your creations!
Most Soothing Video on CZcams Ever! 😌
I know you do this for the education, and I do really appreciate that, but it’s really nice to get one of these in the mix here and there. Thank you for helping me stay zen this morning ♥️
23:18 *pauses to Google if that's rocks or beans or..??*
Turns out it's baked clay balls, they expand with water and help maintain moisture for potted plants and such.
If anyone wanted to know lol
Thanks for the info! :D
50/50 on if thats beans still
I was thinking you were going to stick some pothos in that lecca. Very nice.
Love your videos, but so much of what makes them special is hearing your enthusiasm for your builds and why you choose to do something a certain way.
Agreed, I also like hearing his thought process on why he makes some of the decisions he does.
Imagine making a 6 foot by 4 foot wall like this YEAH!!!!!!!!
Spectacular... maybe with fairy/solar lights too soooo much zen all in one place ummmm
My first thought as well! Whenever I get my own place I want to try it out.
This is absolutely my most favourite of any that you have done. If I had this I would be so honoured to have it in my home as my most coveted and prized possession, after my dog of course! It's absolutely superior to any type of terrarium design I've ever seen. Hats off to you mate, just wow! 👏 👏 👏
If I ever hit the lottery, I'm spending 100k or better on everything he has made. I found scraping moss off a few rocks today just to decorate so rocks. I could never be this great but my little rocks are cute now. Thank for being here and being an inspiration.
my soul has been cleansed 🙏 thank you mossman
I never thought about using bricks this way before, what a wonderful idea Tanner!
Living art! I would buy this immediately if I saw this out
Someone is going to make a entire brick wall like this.
Maintenance might a taxing, but beautiful things are not free.
Love this, its like urban nature
This piece is such a beautiful piece of art. I'd love to come back to it in a few months to see how it's doing
A thing of beauty! ... Only Bob Moss could make 'smash brick with hammer' into peaceful viewing lol
To watch this while listening to the Sunday Sevice choir is sublime.
This by far is one of the dopiest things you’ve created 🤤
Great concept. Like the asmr production too.
A beautiful creation, would like to see it in a terracotta dish or cube
This reminds me of my old garden, i had brick planters made and after a couple of years they looked like this wall, incuding the rattlesnake ferns, it just looked awesome.
I really enjoyed the ASMR of you playing with the sphagnum moss while it was rehydrating. So satisfying.
This has to be one of my favorite builds of yours, and that's saying a lot! It feels like a living piece of art. Truly beautiful. I can't wait to see how it looks after a few months of growth.
This was so pleasant and relaxing to watch! I can't wait to see what it looks like after having time to grow! I'm a bit late to the game, here, but I hope maybe there's a time-lapse or something, so we can see how it ages and changes over time. Thank you for posting this!
CZcams should get rid of thumbs down! What right do these people have putting down your long hours of hard work? I guarantee they couldn't begin to do anything better! We need less of that in this world! It is serene and beautiful! ❤️
Tanya I appreciated the camera angles so much. I realise the work to move (&remember to) is hard so thank you. It was so good though I did nearly fall asleep a couple of times but that’s cause it’s relaxing & I’m tired. I loved it. I’d love to soo soothing like that in sandstone.. 👍
well now I know exactly what im doing with the pile of bricks in my back yard
What’s great is you can make it as small or large as you’d like and can afford.
Do a cute lil brick wall
@@SimonP6 I sincerely want a cute lil brick wall now
If I had a garden and this was an entirely free-standing wall, that'd be awesome.
I could not figure out what was SO satisfying about watching your videos like this.... then I just realized it... you're so calm. completely in your element and not RUSHING anything. just letting the process happen. Relaxed. It does that to me. Relaxing. calming. I rather enjoy your videos. all of them.
Nature has the most skillful paint brush so you can't go wrong mimicking it. Beautiful and creative design.
Absolutelly love all your videos, but I gotta say... you should definitelly do more videos like this! Indeed very satisfying
i realized this video was new about 6 minutes in lol i've been rewatching old ones
LOL. New video every Saturday.
Introducing Chia-Wall™, the newest member of the growing Chia family!
Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!
All I could think of was how amazing this would be as a larger feature in a bathroom? Not a whole wall but like the size of a bed head behind your bathtub though 😍
Looking forward to seeing this one in 6 months time 👌🏽
How can anyone dislike this video!!! 😃🌱
I was in here looking for the haters! Like y ppl?
My friend, you've found something special. Please make more of these, don't change the formula.
One of my favorite designs. Simple. Quiet. Mossy. Right on.
I love your channel, Tanner! You've awakened a new hobby in me.
Omfg I love this so much finally something I can afford to make 😂 now to go find some random bricks and moss because I never have money
Very Primitive Technology of you. Love the style of video, and the project. Even down to the camera angles and length of each shot you really captured the feel of Primitive Technology's videos lol.
As someone from the UK who see’s wall’s like this on a daily basis, absolutely well done. It looks beautiful!
As in days gone past, Sensei teaches without speaking. A remarkable build. Looks like something you'd come across while walking in the woods. It will look even more natural soon. Would love to see a follow up.
Probably my most favorite build ever. I loved this video and appreciate your living artwork.
The dripping sound at the end! I need that on loop! My cat ran over at the sound and it tricked her into drinking lots of water! 💧💖
I dont know how other see that but i love videos with youre voice more than the others.
i love this but the plastic base seems a little out of place
Hey tanner, have you ever used popsicle sticks to work on silicone? Clean hands and often very nice silicone lines :)
Nice, will do this next time I caulk my tub... which will have to be soon bc I did not do a great job
It's a good idea but in this application I dont think it would have mattered
I've use various tools and stuff like that before, but it's more intuitive for me at least to just use my fingers.
@@SerpaDesign easier to tell thickness
Try dipping your finger in soapy water (equal parts dishsoap and water). Then the silicone isnt sticking to your skin.
I like you talking through the videos, telling us what and how you are doing things, but . . . . this is also very nice, very zen and calming.
Like Mother Nature reclaiming her turf! 🥰 Awesomely natural looking.!!
That drip sound at the end tho...
so satisfying.
Amazing as always! I always enjoy your commentary but this was a nice change in pace, I can always enjoy some relaxation after finals. You should put your logo on your watering can like you did on the base of your project! Serpadesign logos EVERYWHERE!
Excellent ,aesthetic work. The plastic container gives an unfinished look. A tree bark cladding could make all the difference.
Serpa, ever thought of an ant farm tank?? I'd be interested to see . I was considering getting a thorny devil which needs a lot of ants to eat so might try to build a few farms ...
That's a "formicarium". I'd love to see that.
"relaxing build" video starts out with hammering bricks. Ah yes just the sound I love relaxing to.
Loved the whole video ❤️
I'm 26 years old, and it only just occurred to me while watching this exactly why stainless steel is called stainless steel. It's because it doesn't stain stuff when wet!
This piece is going to look AMAZING in a year's time. I've not noticed you use rabbit's foot fern before, but it's the perfect plant to sit atop this wall. All those fuzzy trailing tendrils will look simply fantastic.
Tanner should have his own master class. Would anyone else enroll?
this is soooo relaxing!! i'd love to see more satisfying and relaxing builds!
I don’t know how you do it, but with each video you come up with more ingenious ideas. Looks great Tanner!
Same vibe as Asu. Love every moss
My first favorite thing: No voice over. No instruction. Just watch and learn.
My second favorite thing: No annoying weird music in the background.
Beautiful and imaginative design as usual. I also loved how relaxing the whole video was. Thank you for creating such quality content!
The large flat sides of the brick could be painted with lichen spores and ground up rock lichens.
One day, one day, I hope to see a Serpa and Asu collab
I love the idea of an urban twist on a mossarium
Love this concept! Keep up the great content man
The videos where you don't talk give a totally different vibe and I think the viewer concentrates in a more fascinated way.
We're still all intrigued as to what you're listening to tho!
This just gave my wife and I the idea to make the same thing, but with 4 walls and leave the center for a plant to grow out of.
Thanks for the idea!
Now gotta figure out which plant.
I adore amsr where people are just doing something. Like working on making something, but specifically the kind where they don't make excess noise. One where they are just silently working. So basically, this. This video here, I love it.
I always think these kinds of builds are gonna look weird, I'm always wrong and happy to be so
Inspiring as usual!
(I want Tanner’s WORDS….bring back the words 😅)
without voice I was able to play this at 2X speed
Artsy...clever...relaxing
I LOVE IT !!! :d THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL & METHODICAL APPOARCH IS AMAZING !!!
really like the build, but i prefer when you speak ; )
