Nano Eco Cube (Cheap & Easy DIY Paludarium)
I enjoy creating and sharing nature designs, but there’s often a perception that they’re always expensive. Although that’s the case in some instances, it’s not the norm for me. DIYing, working with what I have, and buying things on sale help me do things cost-effectively. In this one, I wanted to share how it’s possible to make a paludarium of all things with minimal materials, simple techniques, and stuff from my yard. Enjoy!

Firewood Made an Incredible Aquascape? Yes.
zhlédnutí 133KPřed dnem
I thoroughly enjoy creating nature designs. There's an aspect to that I find exceptionally fun - using unexpected materials in a unique way, in this case, firewood. It’s something I’ve been considering for a few weeks now, and had to make it happen. I knew I’d like this design, but I DID NOT expect to enjoy it this much. These logs truly made for a unique and incredible scape. Don’t you think? ...
Easy IKEA Jungle Box (DIY Greenhouse)

I've made plenty of IKEA projects before, and we thought it was time for another. Well, actually, it was my wife's idea. A few months back, I had to get glass for an aquarium when she said, "Can you make a display case vivarium like the one from before? I want something cool for the living room." I’ve been sitting on this Milsbo Case ever since and haven’t had the time to make it until now. It ...

I can't believe I’ve had Walnut, the Loggerhead Musk Turtle, for nine months. Time flies! He’s been a great addition to the animal room and an awesome turtle in general. Since then, he’s been living in a 40 gallon tank, but that was never the long-term plan. I’ve wanted to move him into a 75 gallon pretty much since the beginning, but it wasn’t available. It recently cleared up, though, so the ...

I've been getting requests to do a Vampire Crab build for years! It's something I've wanted to do, but I held off until the time was right. I've been trying to get them since last year, but they haven't been available until early last month. I've been building the colony since and am happy to have finally finished their new home. I'm so glad to have finally done this and I'm excited to share mo...
Easy to Make Two Running Waterfalls Terrarium

I've made several waterfall terrariums over the years, but none have been “easy to make.” I set out to make a more accessible version of this style of build using fewer materials and simple techniques. I still wouldn't consider this to be a beginner build, but I think it could be easily replicated with a little practice and finesse. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, though, and I hope ...

For many years, I've been utilizing tropical houseplants as an essential element within my aquariums, paludariums, and ripariums. I knew I wanted to replace the aquarium in the wall with a paludarium, but I wasn't sure where that journey would take me. That was until I was inspired by some junk / scrap materials I had in my storage area. Many of those are covered in glue, plaint, and foam). Others aren't viable for anything on their own. Love your work, the designs, the presentation, your accent! Hope that deer let you live! Love from Germany

I have a similar idea with white sand and a much smaller container (2gal) at the most. I'm looking to have a mini beach, but rain forest/jungle lingering over top on both sides. Eventually, have a Blue Poision Arrow Frog, a few Butterworts, Jumping Spiders, and clean up creatures. Got my white sand, small black pebbles from the dollar store. I just need to find some moss in a wooded area. I'll be halfway there. How is your sand holding up? Looks like you used filter sand?

I can't believe how many people keep fish in tanks with no rocks, substrate, or plants. Just a tank with an air bubbler, and they are so proud of it. Or how many people keep reptiles and just their throw their enclosures on a wire shelf, with wires all over the place and absolutely no thought on making their rooms look good. Maybe that's why I like this channel so much. You have a very good eye and create rooms and enclosures with ambiance.

In my experience, millipedes can rapidly overpopulate a tank and throw it out of balance. I experimented with them in some terrariums years ago and they completely stripped all the dead organic matter, had a huge population boom, and them fluctuated back and forth in population while consuming every single scrap of dead organic matter in the enclosure, so it was bare ground everywhere there wasn't something green.

Beautiful work. I know you enjoyed foraging for mosses in your yard and local area. I think moss is one of the wonders of the natural world. I've been enchanted by it since I was a little girl in NYC long ago. It will thrive, lush and green, from nothing but grit and powdered dog poop blown into a crack in the sidewalk, watered by rain.

Ingenious, unexpected and lovely use of a small aquarium! My new projects are all outside at the moment. Been having fun with using local native water and marginal plants in various containers. The plants are cheap from the local indigenous nursery at $2 each, or less for their volunteers. Do Indigenous Plant Nurseries exist in the USA? For my next project I saw an example of a fibreglass container pond, which was intriguing as these are a comparatively lightweight container and might be good for balconies. There are also species of small fish that are good in small ponds and eat any mosquitoes without creating a lot of waste. Medaka rice fish are one, which while not local are visible: most of our local species are well camouflaged and good at hiding! I’d love to see a Serpa designed medaka rice fish pond!
