- Listen to "On Bullshit" (1986) by Harry Frankfurt at any speed you prefer!
My goal is to build an auditory library of great philosophy papers to make philosophy more accessible for those whom this could benefit: auditory learners, those who want to dabble in philosophy but do not find reading dense papers appealing, students starting out in philosophy who do not know where to begin, and finally and most importantly, students with vision impairments.
Check out my Instagram @AristotleWalks where I post an idea from Aristotle's works every day, Monday through Friday :) All the translations from Ancient Greek to English (in the caption), the paraphrases (in the photos), and the background photos are by me!

I am a philosophy, professor preparing his syllabus for a Course on propaganda, and how lucky I am that you took the time in trouble to read this paper allowed. I am now going to include it in my syllabus for the fall.
I have to read this paper for a class and it is so nice to be able to listen to it. Thank you!
So happy to be of help! :)
Superb! Oh thank you so much for doing this.
really well done, this was the soundtrack for my 5 mile walk tonight
I'm so glad! Thank you so much, I appreciate you letting me know :)
Thank you for your contribution to a lifetime of learning for anyone willing to do so.
Thank you so much for this! From a very tired ADHD politics student.
Thanks for listening! I wish I'd had this available to me back when I was an undergraduate student. I'm glad it's helpful, will be recording more papers soon :)
Very clearly read and definitely made it easier for me to take in. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this! I will definitely be listening again to try to absorb more of this. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you so much for doing this! Brilliant!
I read this in college, and wrote a paper about it. Now, I have a more appreciation for this essay
We are going to be discussing this book (in tandem with his other book, On Truth) in an upcoming session of our intellectual society, where we discuss philosophy and the works of great thinkers. Thank you for this reading
I am so glad that this reading can be of help to you! :)
Best,
Masako
Thanks for this! You have a beautiful voice!
Thank you so much Oscar! :)
the fact that you changed all the male pronouns to they/them put a big smile on my face :) I'm reading this for a class and it was amazing to be able to listen to it!!!
Lmao found the snowflake, didn't know y'all got offended by Normal pronouns haha..
@@Emre723 The change in pronoun usage in the field of philosophy the past multiple decades does not, I believe, arise from anyone being offended by male pronouns. I for one am certainly not offended by them.
The field of philosophy has a gender gap that is more severe than even mathematics (for which it is common, public knowledge that the gender gap is severe). The effort to switch to non-male pronouns is an effort to make the discipline less male-oriented than it already is. Hope this helps :)
I'm so happy I could be of help & also glad the change could be of help! :)
@@aristotlewalks well anyways.. loved the recording!! Really helped, thank you! :)
@@aristotlewalks I couldn’t say it better myself!
Wow very cool history of the word Bull Sh**!! Love the dog simile discussion. SO interesting: 53:56-55:04
So glad you enjoyed! :) ❤
You should keep up with your good work! Much appreciated.
Thank you🙏
Thanks!
Just lost a small claims action. The defendant's written report was bullshit. Her testimony included lies. It was not only that event that brought me here but the notion that 'it's all bullshit' as well as an interest in the distinction between 'real bullshit' and any other kind. The bit about bull sessions is relevant in that apparently people are being cancelled for engaging in that sort of loose perhaps ritual mode. Anyway, listening was a pleasure. Thank you.
I'm sorry about the loss of the claims action. The prevalence of bull shit is certainly a problem with which our society will have to deal.
Thank you so much for your message, I am glad you enjoyed it!
Good bathroom book.
I like your voice no bull shit
Sincerity is bullshit😉
I sincerely believe it is a fact that sincerity bullshit. There a nice series of lectures on CZcams
Calling Bullshit.😉😀
It seems that saying you feel like a dog that got run over is a metaphor for feeling bad. Not a statement of fact.
Is this the whole thing?
Yes, this is the original essay Professor Frankfurt published back in 1986. It was so well-received that he expanded it into a slightly longer book in 2005! :)
You are amazing, if not for you I wouldn't understand this "bullshit". God will send you blessings for this generous giving.
Thank you so much! I hope to record more papers soon! :)
Anyone else learn about this book because of the Angry Video Game Nerd?
With Trump’s Super Tuesday win last night, this essay is more important than ever to read and understand. Trump is the greatest bullshit artist in US political history. His victory would have far reaching consequences globally and would be a triumph of bs over reason.
