The drivers are crazy but the fans that are right on the track with no protection watching a large metal death machine come barreling past are even more crazy
my thoughts exactly. who is crazy enough to just be like right on the edge.
You'd never catch me there, those things go off course even a little bit and 50-100 people are getting hit
Rallye today is wild, but watch some Group B Clips from 40 years ago. People were literally standing on the track behind hills and shit, just waiting for the cars to come flying. They jumped out of the way last second. Back then cars got faster and faster, due to the invention of All Wheel Drive by Audi, amongst other reasons, so more and more people started dying, spectators as well as drivers so in the 1986 they finally changed regulations again to make cars slower and the sport much safer again.
Few can control a machine at those speeds, at the limit of what's physically possible. Less do.
@@TheMarslMcFlygroup B was wild even for today but especially in contrast to anything else at the time... the exact amount of power was irrelevant, it was 'enough'.. all just fell on how much traction you could get, they would use every N of it. The sounds those things made.. 🤤
20:26 this happened only a couple of months ago in the UK, the reason the man wasnt instantly able to get in the crane was firstly because of the extreme heat and smoke that was only a few feet away from him, secondly it was also incredibly windy causing the cage to swing around like it was and thirdly the crane operator wasnt able to properly see where the man was due to the amount of smoke and the position of the crane itself so effectively he was flying blind.
20:26 Was Reading , Berkshire , was working that day and only a few metres from the incident. There was another fire there a few months prior that the one in the video.
And fourthly, it wasn't even set on the roof when they were claiming he should have gotten in.
Yep its all about perspective, because the angle from below makes it look like the cage was lower than some viewers assumed @@KainYusanagi
Yeah, people really don't understand just how intense the heat is from a fire when you're that close.
And then you have people saying "I'll just run through the flames to the other side! hyuck!"
Thank you for the explanation. I thought it was something like that, but I also wonder if the honking from whatever it was signaled that it was okay to get into the cage as it was stable. The person moved right after the sound. Could be a coincidence. But thank you again.
9:30 For those wondering, a cloud chamber allows you to see the trails of particles being emitted from a radioactive substance. All of those white lines are radioactive particles being emitted by the Uranium.
Yep, this is how radiation kills you. Those "invisible" particles rip through your body destroying cells as it goes.
@@xxxxMaddnesSxxxxyes. If the radiation coming off the uranium was not 99% alpha decaying.
Alpha radiation is stopped by glass then clothes then skin.
It is impossible to receive nasty radiation from that one piece.
Radiation is powerful but it obeys too many rules.
hol up, the radioactive Uranium particles are coming through the projector or mixed into the mist before that?
Curious if that means many screens and lights are like that, then again everything being a frequency and considering our daily lives we are constantly being irradiated, even by the Sun.
@@Riclavalthey are coming off the piece of uranium itself.
The lights you see is the radiation shooting through a medium where it can be seen by human eyes.
The sun does throw ultraviolet light on you but that is mostly harmless with the proper precautions.
so are you saying, even if we can't detect it normally, that we can potentially dodge these radiation lines? lemme go get my uranium and test it
11:47 Don't underestimate an ant-eater. This is a young declaw guy that is playing with it's caretaker, however the wild builds are over 300 pounds, 6-7 feet from nose to tail tip, and their claws that made for digging dirt and fallen timber can be up 5-6 inches. Even predators stay away, because on good swipe can mean disembowelment.
i was looking for this comment!
It could be compared to the threat level of a honey badger but with more offense and less defense, just an assumption since I haven't seen footage of ant-eaters getting attacked or how the fur/hide compares with the slightly elastic type the honey badgers have.
Still impresses me that there are creatures that dont go out hunting prey like Lions or Tigers do, yet Lions and Tigers are like "Nope, nope, nope. See that over there Bobby? That is called Death. It looks a bit goofy, it walks a bit goofy, but if you try and eat it, them claws will do you right and proper."

Part of me surprised this isn't higher really.
the reason those can openers are better than modern ones is because they predate planned obsolescence being a standard business practice.
The Gangy 300 is a beast of a can opener. No moving parts make it basically impossible to break. Only thing that can hinder its performance is if the blade gets too dull.
Its really sad that there were all these great long lasting can opener designs and somehow people were dumb enough to switch to crank can openers.
Planned obsolescence should be a crime, a capital one. It's treason to the people, sabotage to the customer and country.
Planned obsolete seems like a. Paradox.
Canopeners don't suck because of planned obsolescence. They suck because they're cheap crap peddled to suckers that don't know any better.
Its not that they stop working after a certain point. It's that they never worked right in the first place.
Either planned obsolescence for cheap products or non-obsolete expensive premium products (which not all people can afford to buy). We can't have something in between nowadays.

9:30 cloud chambers are made usually with alcohol kept at just above its freezing temperature. When the uranium decays, it sends radioactive particles out which interacts with the alcohol by allowing it to condense. This forms streaks of alcohol clouds along the particle’s path, so it allows you to see radioactive decays.
Regarding the MRI, that machine is being decommissioned. It is fairly common that they have demos for medical personnel about how powerful the magnet is and its associated dangers before the magnet is shut down, usually through quenching. Source, me, I work with among other things medical related, with commissioning and decommissioning of MRIs.
That was my guess as well. That or it was a video that the maker of the MRI, showing why you don't mess with metal near them using one that was being decommissioned.

09:30 A cloud chamber is a device (usually a box with at least one transparent wall so you can see inside) where a carefully controlled concentration of alcohol is kept chill at just the threshold between condensation and evaporation, and radiation particles disturb that balance enough to leave cloud trails of condensed alcohol as they shoot past. If you get it just right, and you got a bit of luck, you can even occasionally catch some cosmic rays that managed to get thru all the atmosphere and even your roof and stuff all the way down to make a trail there.

I had one of those 1920 can openers when I was growing up. It takes more force than modern can openers and leaves some pretty sharp edges, but I don't remember it ever breaking, just gotta make sure it doesn't rust.
As a tree climber, that last clip absolutely can be real. The dude was a total idiot, had no idea what he was doing and lacked even the most basic equipment to do it safely; but yes I have witnessed far worst in person myself. Worst one, was a guy forgot he was tied in above his head, knocked out the top *With his primary line still in it* and was yanked strait out of the tree, 50' or so down to the asphalt below and died in the hospital later.
Can opener I'd recommend: I found one once that doesn't try to cut through the side or top at all, it pries open the glued-together seam between them. Won't work on oddly-shaped cans, obviously, but immensely smoother and requires less force than anything I'd tried up until then. It also tends not to need replacing much because it isn't cutting through metal. Don't recall the name, and the specific brand might not be around any more besides, but it should be findable with effort.
Those are safety can openers and they suck just as much as the other kind. Any thing that automatically spins the can is going to get fucked up and stop working fairly quickly.
What you want to get is a Gangy 300. Its Japanese costs $10 and will last forever. One guy finally replaced his with the exact same model after 30 years and he used it so much the paint was all completely worn off.

Rally drivers are totally fearless, crazy and arguably the most skilled athletes off all. There are hardly any deaths in this sport but quite a few accidents. I admire their skills very much.
while on the wrc level there isn't too many deaths, on lower levels there likely is. the only figures i could quickly search up is 116 fatal crashes between 2004 to 2009, that's quite a lot. on the top classes though where the safety regulations and marshal/medical crews are experienced, sure it's safe. but on amateur and semi-amateur levels where things are more laxed but the speeds are largely the same, a different story.
The top level drivers have balls of steel. But, the most impressive thing about it isn't the drivers - it's the tyres. Those things are the absolute pinnacle of tyre technology. Their grip levels is what enable the drivers to do what they do. They actually only last one stage (less then 50km) before they are totally worn out. They have one purpose in life and they do it perfectly.

9:33 What you're "looking for" with Uranium Ore are the streaks shooting into the water. It's cool because the water is showing the particles shooting off the radioactive ore. It can also work with most radioactive ores.
Edits: fixed a grammar error and adding that below comments went more in depth with this specific type of chamber. I can not remember specifically where I came across that it can happen in water as well but it's still cool as hell.
Super cool to see it in action and not in some drawing or animation..also scary kinda scary
It's not water, it's cold Ethanol vapors. This chamber isn't properly chilled and the streaks from the particles should be reaching out much farther in all directions. The streaks themselves are made from the ion path left behind that allows the ethanol to condense.
@prescotthancock5907 especially terrifying when you stop to think that each particle zipping away has the potential to hit you and tear apart your genetics at the molecular, causing cancer at the least and death in a few hours at worst
@zekehunter2473 The same thing happens with water though.
This might be the ethanol solution (most probable due to enrichment facility), but it could also be water with the ions shooting downwards. I see how it could be either or.
Still doesn't change the fact that it's awesome and terrifying at the same time.
@@a_d3mon This doesn't happen in water and as water is a particle moderator and absorbs them, but if there is sufficient radiation the water will glow a slight blue.

9:37, A cloud chamber, also known as a Wilson cloud chamber, is a particle detector used for visualizing the passage of ionizing radiation.
A cloud chamber consists of a sealed environment containing a supersaturated vapor of water or alcohol. An energetic charged particle (for example, an alpha or beta particle) interacts with the gaseous mixture by knocking electrons off gas molecules via electrostatic forces during collisions, resulting in a trail of ionized gas particles. The resulting ions act as condensation centers around which a mist-like trail of small droplets form if the gas mixture is at the point of condensation. These droplets are visible as a "cloud" track that persists for several seconds while the droplets fall through the vapor. These tracks have characteristic shapes. For example, an alpha particle track is thick and straight, while a beta particle track is wispy and shows more evidence of deflections by collisions.

16:21 I discovered that my dad was once a rally driver and won a lot of races. I must say, it was quite shocking to find out after he passed on. The whole time I knew him, he was boring and grumpy, and yet, he had a secret world. It just shows that you never know who someone is.

15:22 "didn't they wreck the machine"
It was a decommissioned machine that's reached it's end of service life and was going to be scrapped and replaced with a newer machine.
19:10 They didn't show the military version for opening C-Ration cans known as the "John Wayne" in the Marine Corps, aka P-38 and larger P-51!
Missed you guys 🎉
the girl with the stick could play Jade in Mortal Kombat 4 sure
The plane was a highlander super stol I believe. They come in kits you build yourself and they're made to fly really slow and landing anywhere.
That dude on the tree at the end of the vid, reminds me of when we used to turn this 80 foot tree into a christmas tree for the holidays. Being up that high...the wind...was actually pretty cool, but goggles woulda been sweeet.
15:11 she needs to be fired immediately, a teacher with talent that can actually do what they teach? Preposterous.
So here's the thing about rally: They don't even get to practice on the stage. In normal races you'll drive the circuit hundreds of times to learn it inside and out, but rally drivers just have someone in the passenger seat tell them what's coming up and never get to retry their run. They have to be able to drive the stage completely blind, sometimes literally because they go no matter how bad the weather gets
Yeah, you can be the best driver in the world but if you don't also got a really good map-reader beside you, you're toast. :)
With the can opener I'm going to guess you have one of the cheaper ones. I had one and had the same issue of it being a guessing game if it was going to work or not. Buy one of the more expensive ones (like Oxo makes) and those problems go away. Since I got one I had only one can give me those issues and it was because it was a super thick can so it was harder to open.
