I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
i know mate it is every star wars loyalists worst nightmare come true.
AGAIN!!! 😡👎
...no no... it was just me cyring out so loud in europe that you literally could hear it all over the world... my apologies!
Those were Disney employees.
Oh i haven't stopped crying
"Suddenly cried out in terror and began to furiously type away", I'd say :P :)
At this point I believe Disney is trying to do a bankrupt speedrun with all of their franchises
All in cause of, say it with me…
*THE MESSAGE*
Hire women, get the "benefits."
That's only if you assume these people are aiming at success.
*Why would you assume that?*
*Am I the only that’s sick and tired of seeing x-wing and tie fighters. It’s getting to the point where it’s starting to become stale and less exciting to watch*
*We got way more interesting battles such as the Mandalorian Jedi war and Sith War, but were still focusing on empire era stuff. Let’s focus on the old republic era, there’s more interesting movies and shows right there to get crazy with, but who knows maybe Star Wars fans just like seeing the same stuff over and over like a child with jingling keys*
IMO KOTOR etc. level media is the only true way to enjoy "Star wars". IMO KOTOR >>>>> the OG trilogy. Even if the writing is on similar level, the OG action scenes are lacking (standing still and swinging light sabers).
What annoys me even more is that this is exactly the type of movie Star Wars fans wanted to see back in 2015. Only we wanted to see Luke as the Jedi master who rebuilt the Jedi order.
We got that in the EU, but then again it died
I would have even accepted a version of the sequels where Luke did try, but failed because he was too optimistic and trusting, and his new order fell to the dark side and used Jedi rhetoric to rationalise genocide of "Sith-aligned peoples". You'd still have Jedi VS Sith, but now they're both evil.
It would make Rey the perfect redemption story, as the persecuted offspring of Sidious, reforming the Jedi order after Luke without his flaw of not being vigilant enough.
@@drakesilmore3760 Disney give this man a star wars movie!!!!
I would’ve loved an adaptation of the Thrawn trilogy or new Jedi order as the sequels. Instead we got the pathetic dumpster fire Disney gave us
How nice
Replacing the guy we wanted with the bitch we didn’t ask
It’s like taking a dark manga like berserk and trying to make it like mlp for modern audiences
How could anything go bankrupt
The very fact that Disney expects us to accept the heir of the emperor as the new hero, while the child of the original heros became the villan, seems too ironic.
Typical modern trend
I wouldn't even care about that if they managed to make the story interesting and told it well while still respecting the established characters. Too bad they didn't do any of those.
Nah it feels like Palpatine won in the end. His offspring continues while the skywalkers end...@@indigo0977

Lucas wasn't any better than Disney. Another bitter Hollywood elitist. Rogue One is still one of the best movies because they listened to the fans. The anti-fan sentiment from the creators needs to go.
He'll buy the franchise back for a dollar at this rate.
Some people loved andor.
Most people absolutely didn't care at all about andor.
Nah, Lucas can keep his midichlorians and virgin births. Disney sucking doesn't make the prequels even one iota better. They are still dreadful abominations.

How Kathleen Kennedy is still gainfully employed by Disney is the eighth wonder of the world.
Cause she has strong connections to several huge media corporations. I think her husband is someone huge too
She has extremely strong connection with Spielberg and Lucas and Faverau. By name at least. Even though all three hate her. And other industry connections too.
She must have had a beskar clad contract which I suspect may have actually been part of the acquisition of Lucasfilm. And ditto to what every one else said about her deep connections in the wood.
ESG
As long as the numbers backs her up. Disney won’t lift a finger.
You want her go? Make effective protest by hurting their wallets. Unfortunately that’s easier said than done.
I can’t wait to not watch a movie where Rey’s story arc is discovering she’s even more stunning and brave than previously thought.
The only viable sequel to her story would be her turning to the dark side oder getting shot in the head by a random stormtrooper.
Turns out Rey is all the Jedi. Traveling back in time, each of her cells becomes "midichlorians" and scattered through time. All force sensitives have a little bit of Rey in them throughout all time. Midichlorisms are all mini-rey particles making jedi, jedi

Dude. Ignore this shite. It doesn’t exist. It’s bad fan-fiction comedy, at best. Stick with the good stuff. Pass it on to those who come after you. Re-watch the original trilogy. Besides Rey being the most powerful character in not only in the whole Star Wars franchise, also in fiction in terms of power-scaling. She is also the most well-written character in the whole Star Wars franchise and fiction. Many audience and real Star Wars fans who knows both the lore of legends and Disney canon that are not actually paid by Disney said they relate to Rey the most compared to most characters, or even all the characters in fiction. Her struggles to the dark side and anger issues are the most relatable and even those who are not Star Wars fans, the entire world relates to her which makes her the greatest character in Star Wars, and also in fiction. It is said that she is a Mary Sue, but she is not since once second of her training is infinite times harder than an average Jedi’s journey to Knighthood, including Anakin’s journey also. Her struggles and life is grueling, and Rey has suffered the most compared to Anakin Skywalker, even as a little girl, Rey suffered infinite times harder than Anakin’s whole life, including when he was Darth Vader.

The sad part for Daisey Riddley is she seems to have done the best she could with such a terribly written character
Yeah. I actually liked her in TFA, especially in that scene after they defeat the Tie-Fighters on Jakku. Sure, Rey was kinda perfect, but not entirely, and until she started using Force powers (that shit was just awful), she was forgivable.
She kept going back. She could have easily left after the first movie. She just didn't care about Star Wars. She just wanted the money. She shouldn't be defended.
@@mediocreman2 For a new unknown actress she at least can be forgiven for it. What excuse is there for the actors that made a huge fortune already that go back to revise a character into the ground? Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Etc?
@@mediocreman2she probably signed a contract to be part of the entire series and future movies when they hired her.
Which isn't saying much because her acting boils down to :o
When you think about it Palpatine, one of the most sinister Sith in the history of Star Wars has won. His line has continued through Rey while all the real Skywalkers and Solos are dead. This actually reflects real life so much... Disney has won, they have succeeded in destroying George Lucas's and our(the real fans) beloved franchise. Just like Rey is pretending to be a Skywalker, Disney is still pretending to give a shit about Star Wars.
Wow man, that's actually a pretty accurate way of putting it, but also really fucking sad. I still remember the disappointment I felt watching The Last Jedi. TFA was a copy of ANH but at least it left me intrigued. TLJ killed Star Wars with its terrible plot and disrespect to the Luke character, making me hate everything related to the franchise, which I will continue to do as long as Disney manages it. Fuck them and KK.
You got that. All are dead and they have taken over and now its our turn to vanish.
i agree with that, kk just trying to save her job, but it will fail
This is an unpopular opinion, but TLJ honestly slaps. TROS could have solved all/most of its problems, but instead dedicated itself to retconning the whole movie and trying to be some sort of Endgame level conclusion that it was never supposed to be.
They only win if you, me, the super fans, the fans and the Normies give them our Money. I won't give them a Dime, I didn't pay for Mando and I won't pay for anymore Rey Palpatine. This isn't Star Wars it's DISNEY STAR WARS a completely different thing. I'll stay home and watch the OG Star Wars trilogy it can never die.
It’s impressive how apathetic everyone has become about Star Wars
no one talks about sw around me... for years now
The worst thing an audience can be.
If you care about Disney Star Wars yes. But the Expanded Universe exists, so I'm not so apathetic about that.

Just a reminder that Daisy, a child of very wealthy parents who are in the Hollywood in-crowd, said that she's struggled _just as much_ for her career as John Boyega. That she's faced just as many hurdles and her wahmenness outstrips his POCness in the progressive stack.
Daisy was sent to private boarding schools and enjoyed every luxury imaginable as a child and young adult. Her parents paid for all her acting classes and helped leverage their connections to get her the roles she enjoys today.
John, on the other hand, grew up a child of immigrants in the UK and had to walk to a local theatre in second-hand shoes to try to make his acting dream come true.
Look how they have each been treated by Disney: Daisy like a literal canonised saint of strong boss-babeness and John like a clown who, when he complained, was then treated like literal shit.
I'm not saying that Daisy deserves threats or whatever, but she could try not playing the victim for a second since she's about as privileged as you can be.
J. Boyega’s character was supposed to be just as popular as Rey from the way they made The Fart Awakens. Rey, Finn & Poe were gonna be like the new Han, Leia & Luke but di$ney screwed that up big time.

Nobody at Disney can stop Darth Kennedy from destroying your childhood.
For a Jedi she surely shows insane amount of uncontrollable emotions. They are supposed to rise above emotions, not supress them but let them through without affecting their behaviour?
Star Wars didn’t ruin my childhood… f*ckin polio did
My childhood is intact. I only consider the first 6 movies as anything reasonably good. Sorry, Rogue One was good, too. Solo, Kenobi and Boba Fett are rubbish, and Mandalorian is heading down the drain.
I had a wonderful childhood thank you very much. But yeah it sucks that Disney is destroying the franchise.
Also why haven't they done Mickey dressed up as a Jedi already? Or Donald Duck as Kylo Ren, that'd be hilarious and awesome at the same time
There are 6 Star Wars movies that recognise and a whole load of good books written by good writers. Disney can call something what they want now that they’ve purchased the IP, they cannot change my view on it. My childhood is quite happy with my view of the Star Wars universe. My view of Disney is also something that I am totally happy with and is not likely to change in the near future as they religiously destroy what people love. You do make a generally good point about their desire to force their view onto others though.
Asohka was the last hope for Star Wars. I was one who thought that Dave could do better like his previous projects, but he isn't making what he used to.
Mighty grim news *God Emperor Drinker*.
*sigh* it’s bad. at least we’ll always have the old Ahsoka ❤
As a kid you can actually grow on the prequels and it transitions so beautifully to the OG and if you leave the sequels out you get such a wonderful end to heroes that truly do bring “A new hope”. I’ll keep those movies in mind, not whatever the rat shits out.
For whatever flaws the prequels have as movies, most of us can at least appreciate what they contributed to the overall story. The sequels don't have that same sense of vision or purpose.
@@r.s.7929 The prequels are complete masterpieces compared to what star wars gets now.The red lining was at least good, just a shame they ruined the potential with a lot of plot stupidity.

The fact that there’s been 100 years of Disney and they’re trying to speedrun burning their company into the ground in the next 10 years is truly remarkable.

Once, playing Age of Empires, I had my enemy confined to a single island, surrounded by my walls, all his forests and ores depleted, all his military destroyed. Yesterday I watched again pacific rim
The first one
I know I know
I wanted only a simple film with mecha and monster to turn off my brain
Yet I found myself analyzing the female protagonist
And even with all the limitation of this film it was decently written
It was not a Mary sue
She was good in her specialized job and feminine in appearance
But not better than a guy with actual field experience
She was not instantly better than anyone else
And oh my god
She had some flaws to overcome
In this case a traumatic past
And even more unheard
She actually needed the help of a more experienced mentor to overcome her barriers
I saw a lot of drinkers reviews but this is the first time that I noticed something so obvious rewatching a film of more than a decade ago
There was a time when they where able to write good female protagonists without making men look stupid or useless
And that was in a film about mega monster punching giant robots
My god how low we have fallen
"There's flogging a dead horse and then there's standing over its decades old grave shouting "go boy!" That line made me laugh so hard. XD

according to Honest Trailers, they explained palpatine's return in a seasonal challenge of fortnite. so i looked it up on star wars wiki, and apparently the fortnite event wasnt an official star wars event, but they liked it so much they chose to canonize it. which means they officially acknowledge fortnite as part of the star wars universe.

During the second movie, I found myself so bored that I started watching a CZcams video about a family that owned a massive python as a pet. I never saw the third one. What bothers me most about Rey when compared to Luke is that Luke - and the entire original trilogy's plot - was always based around the classic storytelling concept of "The Hero's Journey" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero%27s_journey?wprov=sfla1), as stated by George Lucus himself. THJ (as I'll shorten it to now) goes back thousands of years and has been used *countless* times for good blooming reason! Because it makes for a good story! Luke had his THJ, and it was utterly *destroyed* in the sequel trilogy. What's worse? Rey *doesn't have a THJ* ! She skips most of it, really. That's why she's so boring! It's utterly infuriating and saddening that we lose Luke - a flawed but ultimately heroic character - and get Rey, the fudging *perfect* hero... #nothanks!
Good stories don't have to be very similar to THJ (although the popularity of the original trilogy rests in no small part on how brilliantly Lucas transposed classic THJ into space fantasy), but Rey's story is literally the dark twin, THJ's satanic bible that breaks every step and makes character uninteresting and repulsive in every possible way.
And she is a girl. Most of us don't want to be led in battle or saved by a girl. It's a raw fact. We are hardwired that way. Men fight and women care for children and the elderly. That's the reason all those movies are so cringe: they all go against human nature.
@@AtticusKarpenter You can let the villain do it, but if the mc is that way it makes for a hateworthy character. Hell even a training ofscreen is better. Kylo, despite falling into the losing to girl MC thing is a more interesting 'hero'. Despite being the villain. Rey is written as a half villain, while Kylo is written like half a hero.

When the first movie in the Skywalker trilogy came out, I thought they were going to have Finn's story arc be that he becomes a Jedi. The idea of a faceless Stormtrooper rising through anonymity to become a Jedi was just so freaking good in my head. And then Ray became the Jedi just because, and Finn became a comic relief..

an adult stormtrooper ..jedi training starts very early. yoda thought annakin was too old as a child to begin. finn becoming a jedi would be awful.
Also, Kylo Ren was great beginning - overpowered but conflicted, hampered by unformed training, with hero worship to skewed image of Vader, mythologized grandfather was GOOD idea and good start.
Can we not let this trilogy be called the skywalker trilogy 😂
It always intrigued me because it seems like that was the intent. Everything pointed to that but it didn't happen.
Excellent video @Critical Drinker! I remember the time that the sequel trilogy was going to be retconned out of existence...I guess that was a vain hope.
2:59 I guarantee they won’t look at a single part of old canon or old legends to find who would actually be the first force wielder, or for any of these projects in general.
The problem for Daisy Ridley is that it’s much easier for Adam Driver to put distance from the Disney trilogy because he’s a much more established actor. The Disney trilogy was supposed to be Daisy’s launchpad, and she gave it her all, but the writers and directors may have broken her career.
And she just sucks as an actress
Maybe … but Daisy has the acting range of a plank of wood.
@@FedReserveCorrupt if i remember correctly, her first acting gig was as a corpse... suits her acting range

Did anyone else feel completely indifferent when they announced the newest films?
I mean...we're still caring about it enough to comment on it, and watch a video of someone ranting about it...so we haven't quite reached the "indifference" yet. True indifference would be ignoring it's entire existence and not even bothering to complain about it. That's the kind of indifference that big media corporations fear. For content creators like Drinker who rely on ranting on modern movies for content/views, being indifferent is not an option.
I mean I just don't really care about these movies at this point
ever since I saw Force Awakens in the cinema I knew we were fucked. then Mandalorian gave me hope again, but now even that isn't looking too good anymore
I saw the announcement video pop up on my recommended. Scrolled right past it. This video started playing against my will. I’ve completely given up on Star Wars. Even Mando is different. All I have is the originals and prequels.
Not really, because although I've literally never seen a Star Wars movie (unless you count SpaceBalls), I look forward to the Drinker mercilessly rip the films a new one when they're out.
A true sign of how bad these characters are getting is that I actually thought for a moment that Kirito from SaO might not have been that bad. Thankfully I remember SaO itself and that thought goes away.

I like how drinker has a lot of empathy for Daisy Ridley’s predicament. I often see (less intelligent) creators blaming the actor or actress for the character’s writing when in reality they normally have very little control over the character itself. Drinker correctly blaming the people behind the character is a welcome change
100% right. Just as I was thinking "I kinda feel sorry for Daisy Ridley" Drinker said the same thing. Same deal with the poor guy who acted Jar Jar in the prequels, and I what's her name from the sequels. One exception is Brie Larson who is genuinely unlikable in real life as well as in the movie.
I used to feel bad for Daisy's predicament, but I don't feel bad for battered women that return to their abusers. So I really can't feel bad for her anymore. She went back after the fact. It's obviously what she wants.
The difference is Abused victims are usually under the thumb of the abuser, they get gaslighted, cajoled and bullied, to the point where the abuser has a psychological grip on them. Ridley does it because she wants to and lacks self awareness that her character isn’t well liked
True but Daisy is a mediocre actor

The fact that mark Hamil refers to Rey as daisy’s character more than once tells me that daisy Ridley is not the problem but it’s Disney that is the true problem.
Yeah, I don't blame the actors at all. It's just what they were stuck with. Just like John Boyega, I felt like they were going to make him force sensitive, which would've been interesting, but no... they just decided to make him another stupid comic relief side character.

The saddest part of this for me is that I never HAD a problem with Rey being the new face of Star Wars. I never had a problem with any of the cast. There was so much potential. If they had only been written and directed by competent people without a political/social agenda. What a tragedy.
This means you don't mind the actor being the new face, Rey as a CHARACTER is flawed beyond belief. She is just Luke Skywalker but without an Aunt or Uncle or anything of real substance. Her only unique trait is her ability to never struggle, strangely the galaxy folds when it is convenient for her. Just look at what Mark Hamill said, Daisy is a great person and a good actor but the character Rey is a disgrace.
Right. Rey as she was written and directed is terrible. With different writers and directors it could have been a lot different.
There is no political / social agenda in Disney, they just want to make money that's it.
I think that's the case for the last trilogy in general. Sure, the plot has plenty of issues, but let's be honest here: the plot for the original trilogy isn't exactly 'Hamlet' either. These are simple stories and simple heroes, made great by compelling writing, directing and cinematography. That is what is missing here: competent writers who understand the art of storytelling. Good writers could have made something good out of this trilogy.
Agree with most of it but I don’t know what potential you saw. If it was completely different in every way post EP VII then maybe it could’ve been (even though Han and Leia divorce is dumb). But it was genuinely the biggest insult to writing ever.
So apparently the movie is about her building a "new jedi order"...

I think its funny how disney completely undid all the work done to save the galaxy in the original trilogy just to tell us the exact same story but worse

In that 15 years, Rey became the greatest and wisest jedi master ever, establishing a new jedi temple with her engineering prowess, that was a marvel to behold, and a beacon to all that was good within the galaxy. She restored the jedi order in a manner that surpasses the days of the old republic, and peace and tranquility reigned. She handed the order off to one of her former male students, now a jedi master, and left to meditate on her success and awesomeness. Upon her return, the order is in disarray, having been mismanaged and bungled by this idiotic male jedi master, and Rey has to put the house back in order.
