    My wife walked in during the blow and suck portion of your video. It was awkward. Very informative video! This helped me find my leak after a local dealer told me I had a cracked cylinder.

    Thanks, Mower Medic 1! That's the engine I have on my Cub Cadet XT2 tractor style rider. Although I've never had any trouble with it, this tip is really great to know!

    Great diagnosis. Oil leaks can be hard to find especially if they are slight leaks. Thanks for the tips.

    Great job. You can also use a presure vacume tester insted of using your mouth.

      @THEMOWERMEDIC1  Před 4 lety

      Vac tester doesn’t produce the volume of air needed to perform the Test effectively

    Great tip! I have a Hustler Raptor with the Kawasaki Fr619v and was curious if that engine is also prone to the same issue and it's a 2015 model 23 horsepower I believe

    Turns out it wasn't my problem but thanks for the great video. I had the other common, easy to fix Governor shaft seal leak

    Hey I liked your video, my FH680D is leaking like a cive. I changed out the breather gasket twice now, still leaking after I run it a few times. I think there must be a lot of pressure for it to keep blowing past the gasket, any ideas of what I need to do? Thanks

    WalMart has the best price I have found for Brake Clean... just under $2 a can (14.5oz, the flammable kind [not sure if that's chlorinated or non]).

    Thanks for the info. Should help a lot of people. I run a lot of kawasaki's but most of mine are FX series and a little bigger aren't the 481's around 15 HP? The smallest one I'M running is a FX651V and a FX850v carburetor would these engines have this same problem?

  • @dave1135
    @dave1135 Před 4 lety

    I've had a few of these come in with oil in the filter and carb, the reed valve fails and the engine pressurizes and has oil bleed back thru the bypass tube into the filter.

    My engine FH680V failed the suck test. Almost no resistance even sealing the hole there is no resistance. what should i check next?

    Great video, thank you. Fairly certain mine has the same issue, was mowing, suddenly felt as if it bogged down so I cut the unit off. I looked under the mower, nothing underneath but smoke pouring out if filler tube. Guess it finally got to hot and engine died. Anyone to know for sure that if I do this repair it's going to start back up?

    Would this apply to the Kawasaki 15 hp FH451V engine as well? First time into this exMark Metro. 48” walk behind…. left side (oil filter side) is leaking oil coming off the back of the shroud. Replacing valve cover gasket and starting it up and observe. Hint - It really starts to piss oil once its been operating for 10 minutes. Thx Anyone!❤❤

    Do you see upper bearing failure on early FH680V engines? I have a 1999 (400 hours), around 2001 they sent me a revised dipstick (more oil). Apparently there is no oil hole for the upper bushing on the early ones. Oil level is very important.

    I’ve got the same motor, and at this point I am just trying to get it running. I cleaned it with a pressure washer, and just sitting there it leaks oil from who knows where. (The valve cover gaskets are dry) any suggestions? ( haven’t started it yet

    Mower medic do you like brake cleaner better then carb cleaner?? And why?

    • @nashguy207
      @nashguy207 Před 4 lety

      I can't speak for mower medic but it depends on what I'M cleaning. I think brake cleaner does a better job of cleaning up oil and other debris but it can effect some plastic and rubber materials so on those i use carb cleaner

    • @gravelyman
      @gravelyman Před 4 lety +1

      @@nashguy207 I agree.and it's harsh on paint as well. so I use brake clean most of the time
