    I picked up that tip from John Christian... he was doing it in Logic with the stock Overdrive plugin...
    I then tried that technique in Ableton, but Ableton has Overdrive, Dynamic Tube and Saturator... I was not sure which one should I use to achieve the correct result... I'm so glad I found your video! Thanks a lot! :)

      Yeah it was life changing when I found out about this. It's pretty much the biggest secret to loudness and that really aggressive sound that so many producers are looking for.

    wonderful explanation. so just to clarify.... you would want to use saturation or distortion when the peaks are huge...as opposed to using compression because you just want to shave off the huge peaks with distortion?

      Exactly. If your goal is loudness then I would say saturation is the way to go if you have crazy peaks. Because those peaks will trigger a compressor hard and you won't really end up smoothing out a sound or making it louder without hearing the negative effects like pumping and distortion. Limiting will also crush the sound and you'll hear it being crushed.
