I looked up the fumble against the Saints he was talking about and I totally get why he said that. There are literally 5 Saints players closer to the ball than him but he gets up in half a millisecond and out hustles all of them.

They can do the HOF ELITE, where they name the top 5 of every position. I agree that they got some average players getting in now by default due to senior finalists that get pushed in due to them missing out a handful of times, the first vote, second, or third vote.

if you consider a hammer, a physical back, that runs it down your throat, is damn hard to tackle, and you can trust in any short yardage down, than that is exactly what he is. thats my definition of a hammer RB. also he had over 1000 yds, while sharing carries with one of the best rookie RBs weve seen in some time @@philipwest6317

    • @funnyguyty
      @funnyguyty Před 4 měsíci

well then I disagree with his usage of the word hammer then. if you're expected to get 140 a game, than all that means is you dont have a good RB 2. not davids fault brad holmes is a genius and crafted the best 1-2 punch in the league. what i thin of as a hammer RB, is someone who isnt necessarily the fastest or flashiest, but plays physical football, and will ram it down your throat all game long. @@davidmork8000

To be fair to running backs that only played 14 games a season, if you take any running back’s best 17 games IN A ROW, even played between 2 different seasons, Earl Campbell has the most yards, over 2400.

Adrian Peterson was a great back but he had one major issue: he fumbled too much. This is from memory from a few years ago but I believe Adrian fumbled once every 70-or-so carries. I did a comparison with Marshawn Lynch - I picked him arbitrarily but he was a great back too - and I think that, before Lynch tried to make a comeback with the Raiders, Marshawn fumbled about once every 120 carries. (Marshawn fumbled a lot more with the Raiders but he really shouldn’t have come back due to age. All of Lynch’s numbers were down in Oakland.)

AP played too long, and you can hear it in his voice. Excellent human being, but he has had far too many moments where his head ran into something hard. Great interview all the same. The Florio/C.Simms combo for talking NFL with players is very high up on the list of entertaining and cogent analysis shows on TV right now.
They are a top 5 show.
Dan Patrick is #1 in my mind, at every single sport [thus being the greatest sports journalist of my time [{48 here}], and I recently found out that I am in the majority, because they just were rated the #1 sports show in America. Go Dan, Danettes, and staff! Single greatest, allow to be honest, historian of the NFL, and to a certain degree, the NBA. He is a very solid MLB lover, but the other two Dan knows backwards and forwards. He deserves all the accolades he and his staff have garnered over the years, and those to come.
Rich Eisen right behind in the #2 spot talking in NFL.
The Pat McAfee show comes in at a very strong #3 for NFL talk. He has great co-hosts [AJ and company are spectacular], he has a great staff, and all of them love the game. Additionally, they take sides. They are true fans of the game. How can you not love that from a TV show?
Colin Cowherd is #4 when it comes to debating the #1 sport in the US. Overall Colin is #2 talking overall sports, but that is not what we are talking about here.
Florio/C.Simms are taking up the rear in #5, but given the other shows on TV/streaming, that is a solid day at the office.
Edit: AP is not even a top 7* RB of all.
    #1 Barry Sanders
    #2 Emmitt Smith
#3 Curtis Martin [everyone will hate this pick, but the reality is Martin did it longer and better than most, barring the other two in front of him, than anyone in history. Go look at the stats. Martin is underrated, and this is coming from an avid Silver and Black fan.]
    #4 Sweetness
    #5 Jim Brown
    #6 Eric Dickerson
#7 is where we can make a sincere argument that Gale Sayers was better, but his career was cut short because of the lack of technology. Terrell Davis' claims were baseless as he had many recovery options at his disposal and his body just gave up. All of the aforementioned are HOF RBs. I am positive that Davis is not a HOF player despite him being in the hall. Deon's point is well put here. Neon Deon, Kurt Warner, and Terrell Davis should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Neon Deon, Joe Montana, Mahomes, Brady, Larry Allen, the OG LT, Reggie White, Tony G. etc. etc. etc. Those are HOF players. They did it at a very high level, for a very long time. These short bursts of HOF moments are nice, but then why isn't Bo Jackson in the HOF? For a very short moment he was the single greatest RB to have ever lived, but it was cut short by an injury. AP should also be considered here, but I still think that Sayers deserves the nod.
#8 That leads me to Adrian Peterson being the last of this list, but Derek Henry is hot on his heels, and may catch him. Only time will tell.

Additionally, like I said, Derek Henry is on the move.

AP is a GREAT, but this is the difference between RB and QB. The top three Simms lists for best running back all had 0 super bowls (though Jim Brown did win the pre-merger NFL championship in 1964). Now, for QBs, if you don’t win a chip you’re trash. Just look at how Marino is always left off of any top-5 (or even top-10) lists.

All the interviews I have seen here are just fan boy mutual admiration crap. They are talking over each other because of the infatuation

adrain peterson was really good. but i definitely wouldn't put him top 5 all time. jim brown, walter peyton, oj simpson, marcus allen, gayle sayers, barry sanders, etc. too many greats above him.

I would put him above Gayle. He didn't play long enough. Walter, Jim Brown and OJ or Dickerson. LaDainan maybe, too.

@@j2398 i guess im 70 years old, and therefore my opinion is invalid? cool. so in case you are interested in knowing or learning something, the term boomer is short for baby boomer. meaning people born just after ww2. this is like 1945-1955. this terms gets thrown around, and as most people arent very intelligent or have basic knowledge of anything, they dont know what they are talking about. in terms of football, yeah oj simpson is one of the greatest rb to ever play. and actually im a millennial. i just am educated, and know the game of football.

I used to love this show, Mike Florio needs to quit acting like he has an S on his chest. The criticism he hands just holds no weight. Especially when he's saying stuff like "he should've made that pass" or "he missed the hole". My favorite is when he says someone can't do a job that he could never do some he drags those through the mud who can play it, but not to his standard which once again holds no weight. Super intelligent, knowledgeable semi nice guy. Your job is to give analysis not critique grown ass men who would off the record would probably make you piss your pants quivering in your boots because you like pretend/act tough with a microphone on a secure campus with security. NO SPINE
