- Part 7. Yaw motor mount that is also adjustable and provides the housing for the battery. This took quite some time as it was difficult conceptualising how it would all fit together. Not too long to go now, just the motherboard mount and the handle bars. Thanks!

I don't know what's going on, but it's nice to watch.
Thanks KK, really appreciate it!
This is like watching surgery. So precise and deliberate. Fantastic work
+Jess Neal Thanks Jess!!
I'm watching your project videos for quite a while now. Apart from the fact that you're obviously pretty damn skillet at building anything, i'm always surprised at the amount of work you take upon you to make things right! That's a skill i really admire. Keep up the amazing work! greetings from switzerland
Thanks heaps Michael! Really appreciate the kind words and very glad you enjoy the vids. All the best to you and to Switzerland from New Zealand!
I really do not know how you do it, your craftsmanship is an art its self!
Thanks so much for your kind words Brenton, very much appreciated!
Un-be-lie-va-ble!
Seriously, I find myself smiling at the sheer brilliance of the concept and the amazing execution..
Also, I love how zen-like your videos are.. the patience, the sounds, the close up camera angles: it's unique.
Thanks again for all your work!
+WeBDaEMoN33 Daemon! Thanks so much friend! Really appreciate your kind words, hope you are doing well. Have a good one!
I could watch you work for hours. Beautiful!

I agree. This is the high ART of gadgeteering.
At 0:30 you can even hear the cricket chirrings. Beautiful scenes.
Wow dude, not only are you hand crafting a beautiful piece of engineering the documenting is amazing. Patience of a saint and super crafting skills.
you have Chosen a massive yaw Motor...
watched the whole series, just beautiful, nice work!
Thanks e Bro! Yes the YAW motor is a biggie. Iv just finished the gimabal yesterday and about to plug it into the computer. Fingers crossed it works. I'll have the final three vids up on Sunday, maybe Monday, but shes all ready to go. Many thanks for kind words!!
+elams1894
cool
nice to hear that the beaity is done😊
i use similar size cams and my yaw motor is nearly half the size and works great bur yoirs does of cause look cool:)
Probably one of the best how too's I have seen yet. Well Done. Bookmarking for a cool Carbon howto series.
your DIY video are purely relaxing ! I could watched it for couples of hours !
+UneRumeurDePonton Thanks so much! Im glad they are enjoyable, really appreciate it!
This is honestly my favourite build on youtube at the moment! Such a unique style COMPLETELY different to how i would think of doing it! More soon please!
+Peter Swanton Thanks so much Peter for your kind words, really glad you enjoy the vids!! It means alot, thank you!
Again, your attention to detail is amazing. I can't wait to see what you build next. Great stuff!

I was like addicted while I watched the video :D
Couldn't do anything but watch :D
It's like you were born to make such kind of videos :)
Not only your videos which were made excellent but also making those stuff, knowledge, experiense, tools, especially patience....etc... are impressive
as always following this project has been amazing to watch.
I want to see more projects!!!
+Richard Kurbis (PAINFINGER) Thanks so much Richard, really appreciate it!
I have no idea what you're making or how you are making it...but i cant stop watching ;)
+Hobson Guitars Thanks HG. Yes I should have really included a detailed description of what I'm doing. I actually tried but it seemed to make it worse so I though id let the pictures tell the story. I'll do a final vid with the whole lot compressed into 1 vid with a description commentary which I think will be more watcher friendly. Thanks again!
Really great to see your VDO, very inspiring and impressed:) Thanks
Awesome! That was a long process with a great result!
wow man glad u showed the labor and amount of work tha goes into it cause id think a cnc machine cut that out. great video bud
+Hasan Redzic Thanks so much Hasan!!
That's freaking awesome I love your attention to detail, thanks for the video I injoy watching you build something ☺

+elams1894 it's been long, any update videos coming sooner? Waiting for your video uploads :)
Damned youre kiddin me. absolutely superb work!
Thank you, really appreciate it!
I shit you not, I have been thinking about making a gimbal. After watching the level of detail in your gimbal design I do not feel capable. If you are not an engineer you should use this video as your CV to apply for jobs.
Well done for the amazing workmanship. Could I have one too please
hi there .. I should say that ur work is awesome and great .. just keep it .. all the love from Iraq /// all love to u🌹😘😘😘
Thank you!
There is so much dust in these videos i feel dirty after watching :D
Fascinating work!
It would be nice to have a voice over on the videos to explain more in detail the design intent, like Clickspring or Frank Howarth. Off course, no one will try to reproduce this project so a documentary style should be appropriate.
+Macovei Vlad I might re-load this vid with a voice-over option. Some like it and some hate it. I realise this build is hard to follow and indeed an explanation would be helpful. Some find the sounds and video is enough without distraction, and some would like more. I'm not a great talker lol but would certainly add a VO if enough would like it. I appreciate you letting me know and thanks for the kind words!
wicked cool man!!
+Greg's Garage Hey Greg! Thanks so much, hope you are doing great! Have a good one!
As always, this is art
+Fluburtur Thanks Flurburtur, hope you doing well mate!!
+elams1894 I started working on my bass project for good, the wood has been drying for a few years now but most of the hard work is done. I hope I will be able to make a video of it within a few months
+Fluburtur Thats great! I'll keep an eye out, All the best for the build, cant wait to see it! Have a good one my friend!!
I started shaping the neck of the bass with a pretty rough wood file and oh boy, do my arms hurt.
Do you have a technique or tools that make that easier? Im only making the rough shape so far since the body is not attached yet.
Yeah unfortunately the rasp takes a bit of effort. Iv looked at all the options, angle grinder, power sander etc, but they ate all too brutal. The rasp, although hard work, gives you control over the process and it does take time. I follow up the rasp with a scraper and then sanding blocks. Slowly you'll get your desired shape. Good on you dude!! Glad it's taking shape, awesome!!!
Fantastic thanks for sharing :)
What is the sticky black substance used to make mount
I must admit I spend 3/4 of your video wondering what the hell your doing and its nice to get the payoff at the end and the "ah ha" moment :-) Its getting close now mate, have you given it a whirl yet ? Your a carbon fiber ninja
+Fletcher Handcrafted Guitars Hi Fletch! Its a bit of a nemesis build really, the complexity of the mighty gimbal dawned on me at about video 4 stage and hence I just avoid commentary as I would not know how to explain it all. I figure at this stage its better to let the pictures tell the story. This section really did my brain in for a long time trying to work it all out and have it structurally sound at the same time. This build is straight from my head hence no plans written down which probably doesn't help. I havent fired her up yet but the next video will be the final one so the good people of YT can actually see it complete as apposed to a bunch of shapes being moulded and sanded in weird ways ha ha. I hope you are doing all good! Hows the website going? Looks great!
How much was the total cost of this build, including pre-owned materials?
Cool video, but I think you love those short depth of field shots a bit much. It gets very noticeable when the focus is even slightly off and also it gets hard on the eyes after a while. Don't get me wrong some of them are gorgeous but with many I just feel like I can't see what is going on properly.
Really cool project though :)
+5chr4pn3ll No worries dude, yeah it gets a bit difficult trying to light it up as I have to work at night. I'm using a very fast lens with a couple of macro tubes and have to shoot wide open hence the ultra narrow DOF. I have to bin some of my footage as I miss the focus in some shots even. Id love a Sony A7S2, that would solve alot of probs for me. I hope to get some work done in the weekend so I can use the glorious sun some more. Valid points you raise and I appreciate the kind words!!
What brushless motor is used? there is a link for buying
@ 0:35 I think I hear the 3 am crickets out in the back 40
wow very unreal shot at 11:23 - 11:27
Wonderful video! But how is about sliprings for wires?
+MediaGraphica You mean the slip rings in the middle of the motors? If so, I used that space to house a shaft as I wanted to support the motor weight on additional bearings rather than rely solely on the motor bearings. Hence alas, I coudnt utilise the space for wires. Cheers!!
Really enjoyed the video. What Dremel base was that you were using?
+Michelle Thanks Michelle! The dremel base is from Stew Mac. I had to modify however as the stock base is weak. It works well but really needs reinforcing as any small knock or fall and the base will bend and ultimately fail. There may be better designs on the market. Cheers!
Hope your wearing a good mash working on that stuff mate.
+Brian “Easty and the Wolf” Eastwood @3:19
+elams1894 Great, didn't spot it. a lot of people don't realize it's pretty bad stuff in the same way as asbestos.
+Brian “Easty and the Wolf” Eastwood Indeed. So much carbon dust while using a rotary tool or sawing. I always get the vacuum out when I can and also the mask is essential, really dont want that stuff in the lungs. Thanks for the comments, have a good one!
Nice work sir, what kind of logic board are you thinking of using ?
I used a Basecam Electronics V3 mother board and an HC-05 bluetooth module. Thank you!! Actually I just posted a start to finish video of this build, should be ready for viewing in about 3 hours, cheers!
im not so good in this stuff but all the gimbals i saw had controllboards is there an part 8 incoming ? why the motors when you cant controll them with joysticks ?
I have nearly finished this build and yes, there is a mother board, and other bits and pieces that make this work. I have also incorporated a bluetooth module and have remote control of the gimbal through joystick. The next video will show this build completed and working with footage (barring any disasters) and then there will be couple of videos after that, completing the build series. Its perhaps 2-3weeks away. Thanks
elams1894 thank you for the fast answer 🔝
very awesome work, how many hours total so far do you have into this ?
+Alen Garner Thanks Alen! Way too many hours this is taking I think. The complexity of the thing is pretty nuts so its taking so much time but the next video will be the last. I'll have operational footage too. Nearly there now, thanks for commenting and for your patience, have a great day!!
ASMR for the handy men of the world
is part 8 coming out soon?
Awesome work u did btw :)
Just uploading now, should be ready in a few hours. Its a start to finish vid with gimbal footage. I have finished part 8 too. I will upload that tomorrow. I'm so glad this build is finished, what a journey. Have a great day my friend!!!!
whta are the electronics used
finally mate
+AM R34 So true.. AAGH this thing is taking the time man, but i'm very close, not long now, the next vid will be the final, all good!
Bravo bravo 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
top notch
Thanks Andy!!
adam resmen sanat icra etmiş amk ya :) bağımlısı oldum çıkamıyorum :)
türkler burda :D
No Surely this is not the end
I paused Peron of interest to watch this
Like every video you have made They are pleasing to watch
You have a talent and still a wife
Were do you buy all this carbon fibre Please upload the links Whats on the books for next project?
+spooner Graham Hi Spooner. Its not the end he he. I could never stop making things else I would go nuts. There is one more vid to this gimbal series and also a condensed version of the whole build plus maybe separate electronics/extra gimbal footage vids to go with it, but not the end of building. I have a few guitars I need to build, tele and a one piece Puriri design. I have a very understanding partner so I'm lucky there. I get my carbon cloth from a local importer here in Auckland NZ and I get resin from a local manufacturer, Nuplex. I but my tools and hardware online, mostly from Canada oddly enough, also from the states and sometimes Europe. Have a great day and thanks for kind your words!
Listen Great videos Can't wait for the next one I think you have us all under your spell
She is understanding as these videos take a while Just getting into quad flying Having my troubles and my partner not so understanding
Hey life is for living you have a great partner If you ever get fed up of her we can always do a swap
You take care speak soon
Gray
when will video electronic assembly? : ))
+Arek Kapcewicz Hi Arek, the next vid will include the electronics. It is quite complex so I may do a separate vid just for the electronics part with comprehensive explanation of whats going on as I have found that trying to find info on gimbal electronic processes is next to impossible. Its taken me a long time to research the whole thing and I think an easy explanation is what is needed for anyone going through the same process. Thanks Alek!!!
Mr. McGyver :D
Is this ASMR for craftsmen?
Much as I enjoy watching plucky Kiwi ingenuity, it would have been cheaper for you to buy one.
Not really, the cheap ones are worse than crap. You'll pay 2k plus just for one that works ok-ish. Cheers
Have to say your workmanship an ingenuity was fantastic to watch. Thanks for sharing!!!!
Also, I have a cheap and cheerful way of vacuum bagging small parts; Use a kitchen freezer sealer. It works a treat. I have also further pressurized some parts by dropping the sealed bag containing the part into water (attached by rope, obiously) for a couple of hours until the resin has cured. 10 metres is equivilent to 28 PSI over the part. Its slightly fiddly but you can seriously pressurize the parts very cheaply.
That's some pretty good thinking outside the box TW. I would never have thought about pressurizing in deep water, very cool. TBH, the amount of time it took me to build the gimbal was blown out for sure but it enabled me to really hone some ideas. I'm making a new bracket and reconfiguring the balance system to eliminate most of the bolts. It's a cool journey and definitely carbon fibre, with some imagination, enables you to build just about anything, thanks for the comments!
If you dropped it down the bottom of lake Te Anau (or similar) it would be as hard as diamond when you pulled it up....
:O
+matej zagorc Thanks matej!
You need to buy yourself a jig saw.
+Matt Holmgren Indeed I do, cheers Matt!
+elams1894 You do great work. Love when I see you have a new vid!
+Matt Holmgren Thanks so much Matt!!
Patiently waiting for a new video.
Hi Matt. I have almost finished, there will be three videos I will upload within the next two weeks. The first will be the finished project, the other two will be the last of the build series, including electronics. Just have to pray I can get this to actually function now ha ha. Thanks Matt!
