HX35 swap on a non intercooled 12v Cummins

- Helped my buddy today do the hx35 swap on his ve non intercooled 12v Cummins.
We pulled the manifold because the gaskets were leaking. Not something you have to do.
Couple things I didn’t talk about in the video
You will need
Hx35
Turbo drain off a hx35
( or have to shorten the one you have)
Turbo drain gasket and t3 flange gasket
Make a cross over pipe
Sometimes shorten the down pipe.
( depends on the exhaust)

Ya 92 years are intercooled
I have a 92 Cummins it’s good running truck
It’s still got the original turbo and everything even the old grandpa rims lol runs great

I'm doing a 12 valve swap on my square body chevy. I build a 650-700 horse 12valve, should I just use a stock 2nd gen intercooler or should I just buy a Mishimoto larger for that amount to horsepower?
Bigger cooler is always better
I’m in the process of putting an hx35 on my 90 12v! What do I need to do for the oil feed line?
Your stock line will work. Some trucks to have to shorten the drain tube.
@@CUTTERUPROB I’ve got my turbo mounted and everything done except that! Threads are different! I ordered an adapter that I’m hoping will work! Was just curious if you ran into this.
@@noahhavlinek3822 what's different about them ? there should be a fitting on your old turbo that will screw out and then screw that in the hx35. i have seen it different and not very often
@@CUTTERUPROB my h1c didn’t have an adapter in it! The braided line threaded directly into the turbo! I think it’s since mine had the smaller h1c vs the intercooled trucks that had the little bit bigger one!
@@noahhavlinek3822 going back in the memory bank lol. some of them most have been like that one. the one we just did was not like that. but if you don't have that fitting you we for sure. i guess i should add that to the description. thanks !

Can I do Hx35 turbo upgrade on my 1992 1st gen with stock ingectors ?
you sure can. the turbo you have is the same a hs35 with a 8 blade wheel but with a 12cm gate housing so it will spool faster

that will help. if you do a govern spring and fuel pin it will be like a new truck
@@CUTTERUPROB I already put the new fuel pin but one of the screws of the fuel pump is swept lol
if you put a govern spring it in , that will be a new truck. best 25 bucks you can send
What was done to the 1/2 ton frame and suspension to handle the extra weight?
new shcoks and add one leaf to the front suspension.
@@CUTTERUPROB Cool man. I would love to put a 12 valve in a newer as in 2000s 1/2 ton Chevy . Everybody says they are too heavy and will bend the frame with power mods. I don't really buy that.

the guys that I have seing do a 12v swap on gassers. re enforce the Frame
So I didn’t tighten my fan right and when I shut off the truck (90 12v) it flew off and punctured a small hole in the radiator and just want to get a new one and the one I have is just like yours cap on the driver side and both hoses on the passenger side, would you buy chance know the part number on a new one? Or can I use a new one with the cap on the passenger side?
i don't have apart number, but the rad you need is for a non intercooled, the rad you good was for a intercooled, i know that last time i need a non intercooled one i ended up have to making one
@@CUTTERUPROB how do you make one? Can’t you just get a long hose and run it over the fan shroud? To the upper driver side outlet?
I don’t build one sorry. They mount different as well but you could make it fix if you want

Other than the charge pipe what do you have to change to do the swap?
oil drain has to be cut down ( or get the one for the hx35 ) that's it
