Silver Lake Campground | Exploring Brooksville Florida

- This week we stay at Silver Lake campground near Brooksville Florida. This was a new campground for us and we met up with friends, Jamie and Sharon and Ethan once again with their new alliance toy hauler. One thing we forgot to mention in the video is there are actually three separate campgrounds there there is silver lake, Cypress, Glenn, and crooked river Silver Lake and Cypress Glenn are both RV campsites crooked river is only temp camping.
While there we did some exploring and discovered a real cool old general store and Richloam. Also did some offloading and discovered that a gator was hanging out in one of the mud puddles that we almost went through! Thankfully, we decided against going through that mud puddle. Could you imagine if we got stuck that would’ve not been good lol
We also tried a micro brewery in downtown Brooksville Called Broad Street Brewery. that was very good!

Brooksville...my home. I love riding the Withlacoochie State Trail. Main Street and all the murals are cool, too.
It is definitely a cool little town that we will check out again soon.

Traffic noise! You are right about that, we always stay in Cypress Glen a little further away from I 75. There are some trails in back side of Crooked River that lead to the old girl scout camp. They had screen cabins hanging on power poles. You can see a couple still but most have fell. if you find the trail that leads to where the river goes into the lake there used to be a cable Swinging bridge that was built by the cc back in the depression days. Heard it was set on fire back in late 70s, you can see where the bases are and where the cable attached. there is another campground on the Sumter County side there. Ride the rail to trails north to Nobleton there are some good restaurants there. Also Mexican Restuarant on SR 50 east of I 75 has really good food.

We have been to the Richloam Store when camping at Colt Creek State Park. There was a guy playing a banjo outside. We bought some country ham and ice cream. The Dade battlefield near Bushnell is about 30 minute drive from Richloam and worth a visit. Thanks for bringing us along.

We are in Elizabethtown/Hersey KOA this summer and spending next fall/winter in Summerfield Florida. Silverlake is where my boat broke before leaving for our summer trip. Take care
