The Extrication is a standalone sequel to The Bridge Curse: Road to Salvation, and is a reimagined adaptation of the thriller film The Bridge Curse 2: Ritual. It is a first-person survival horror game, seen from the perspective of multiple characters, that uses a modern, campus ghost story as the basis for its plot.
The Story
The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication takes place at Wen Hua University, one of the ten universities in Taiwan known for its unsettling ghost stories. To attract new members to the film club, a group of students has decided to hold the Carnival of Horror in the Da Ren building, which abounds with rumors of ghost sightings. They plan on re-enacting a bizarre case that happened on campus decades ago and turning it into a horror movie, but as they rush to film in the depths of night, strange things start to happen...
At the same time, a reporter arrives on campus after receiving an eerie letter in hopes of resolving a mysterious missing persons case from the past. After piecing together a series of clues, the mystery unravels and a massive conspiracy covered in darkness is on the verge of emerging.
As they frantically try to escape, the terrifying being behind the specter-infested building gradually reveals itself... With demons closing in and impending doom at hand, will anyone survive the horrors of the night?

I was really hoping Sarge would be reunited with his wife. He was by far my favorite character.

Did anyone else notice how the burns on her arm got bigger as she used the lantern in that last chapter? And then the burns disappeared when Sarge gave her his bracelet. Great little detail there!

For the second time in a row, my only complaint about a game it the fact that it ended too soon. I was actually satrisfied with the slight cliffhanger ending, but the mid-credits epilogue gave me hope that we'll be seeing this cast again. A-Hai and Sue will likely want to seek out other tragic hauntings to tell their stories, and I'm sure after this, Doc is going to get some training from his great uncle. Plus, it was stated that while you can't return from the gate once you enter, there are other gates you can exit from. Thus, the proverbial door is left open for Sarge to make a future appearance if this becomes a regular series.
And let's face it, The Bridge Curse really does deserve to become an ongoing series. We learned of multiple spirits in the first game, but the second both added a lot of new ghosts, but gave some backgrounds to spirits form both games. Something tells me we're going to learn even more about the vending machine if there's a Bridge Curse 3. For a Ghostbusters-style gag possession, the vending machine continues to prove a popular aspect of this franchise, despite not making a physical appearance in this one.
It's a shame we lost Rich, but I have a feeling that was his fate the moment he was tricked into making a wish. We don't know what happened to the little girl or if any of the spirits besides Sarge and his wife were freed. The professor is likely haunting the place still because he loves the treats, mind you, so his presence doesn't answer this question.
It wasn't a very long wait between the first two games and the quality greatly improved between them, so let's hope the trend continues with Bridge Curse 3. If not, I'll haunt the Devs forever!

A bit of an anticlimactic ending, although I _really_ appreciated Sergeant Huang's redemption arc. I would've enjoyed seeing a quick cut scene of all the imprisoned ghosts (including Poody) being released, or some such. Even so, I thought the game was awesome with its great visuals, goofy characters, and fab voice acting. Plus, any game that flusters CJU gets a thumbs up from me. 😊
Now that you mention it, they can't fix the school's fengshui without tearing it down, can they? So yeah, every ghosts are still trapped. At least Poody seems happy with his unlife on the school ground & I'd like to think that Richie managed to exorcise/free the Mad Ballerina.
@@tofanpurnomowaisaka503they cpuld either tear down the whole place which would be very expensive time and money-wise and probably cost reputation if things come to light. From what I can recall of the little fen shui I know, they might get experts to try and redirect the bad feng shui with special items and if possible, do some renovations instead of a tear down.

I was hoping that once the Gate of Chaos was opened and Yan Shu-wen (The Dark One) was sucked inside, there might be some way to release the spirits he was oppressing. Plus, I assumed that the Circle of Wu created by the priests from the An Nan Palace (to restrict Yan Shu-wen to the Da Ren building) would disperse after the Gate of Chaos was opened and make it easier to correct the feng shui _just_ enough to release the spirits without having to tear down the entire school. I agree 100% about Poody and your wish that Rich could free the ballerina.
@@tofanpurnomowaisaka503 Yeah, I think in order to have the elements in the right order they would need only two levels underground and three above ground.
I think the elements go "Earth supports Metal, Metal contains Water, Water grows Wood, Wood feeds Fire". So you would have Earth and Metal in the ground and Fire at the top.
Sad to see this series come to an end, but looking forward to whatever you will play next

Thanks for playing through this game Chris. This sequel is much shorter than the first game as it only focuses on each character once (except A-Hai who gets one more). The first game is a loose adaptation from the Taiwanese Bridge Curse horror film.
There are 2 endings to this game, both are considered good endings since the villain has been vanquished, but one is more bittersweet than the other. The one Chris got is the good ending, which is achieved by not allowing the anima lantern to break during the Yan Shu-wen/Dark One chase before the gate opening cutscene. The bad ending is achieved by allowing the lantern to break when using it to ward off too many of Shu-wen's attacks during the chase sequence. During the cutscene, everything plays out the same with Shu-wen getting pulled into the netherworld gate, but A-Hai is unable to leave due to the negative energy corrupting her body (you can see her left arm and her right hand in a rash much like what happened to Richie). She volunteers to take the broken lantern through the gate instead of Sarge, who she leaves behind. It's implied from the earlier notes that entering the gate with a light will lead to a safe return, but with the broken lantern, A-Hai's fate is left unknown. The mid-credits sequence has you play as Sue Lian instead, who visits Wu Zi-nan in the projection room who watches the finished film. They both mourn the sacrifices of both Richie and A-Hai who remains MIA. Poody does not appear at the first floor lobby. Sue Lian can try calling A-Hai's number on the phone, but there is no response. The end part has Sue Lian leaving Zi-nan and going back to her car at the parking garage, then receives an incoming call from A-Hai. The game cuts out when Sue Lian says "hello?".

That was a short game... Not only does it have less characters, you only get to play as each once, with A Hai taking Doc's play time. Hell, the demo is basically a quarter of the game. I also thought that each character will delve into a mini ghost story like Richie & the Mad Ballerina, I guess they're saving ghost stories for more sequels. It's a good game don't get me wrong, I just wish it's more "filling".
P. S. Poody's the cutest character IMO, I wish Chris got all of his offerings.
I think it's because this game was developed within a really short time so that's all they could do. Both of the Bridge Cursed games are based on the titled Taiwanese horror films. And since the second film only came out last year I assumed they only got a few months to work on this one

This game completely exceeded my expectations! When the initial trailer/demo came out it looked really good but it could have gone either way, but the devs really pulled out a W on this chapter of the bridge curse series! Definitely makes me excited to see what the developers have in store for us next time!!❤❤

I can't believe I ever saw Sarge as a creep in the beginning only to find out he was the best character. I also just realized at the beginning when he introduced Professor, he saw him because he was a ghost too and why Sue couldn't. I'm guessing we only saw him after midnight was because his spirit wasn't strong enough to pierce through the veil.

I think he is supposed to be dead..since he don't aged at all and we meet his corrupted form in the ghost realm.. he just go back to the afterlife to reunite with his wife..

So, like the first game, it follows the same basic plot-line as the movie - A university has been cursed because it's architect, after being spurned, deliberately designed it in such a way that spirits are trapped inside, and students being haunted have to escape through use of a lantern, with one of the group ultimately sacrificing themselves for the others to escape.
Think I prefer how the game handles some of it, tbh, like the guard (If you have seen the movie, you'll know why), the ghosts are way better in this one. Plus there's no....time travelling bullshit in this.

I wonder if there is any continuation from the first game since it ended with a sort of sequel hook to it, but since the game sequel is based loosely on the movie sequel, they left it unanswered. The first game was about a female restless spirit who kills 5 students every 4 years due to getting raped by 5 boys on the bridge in school while she was waiting to elope with her boyfriend while she was alive, and then killing herself from heartbreak due to shame and misunderstanding with her bf. She leaves one sole survivor from the group whom she forces to do her bidding by luring a new batch of students to kill. That game ended with the sole survivor from the latest group atoning for what happened by saving his former classmates' spirits and with their help vanquish and purify the spirit. The stinger reveals that, unknown to the protagonists, the spirit was pregnant before she died, and when she was purified, the ghost baby did not, who is left behind in the school.
@@railmacher1303 Thing is, and this is gonna be pretty spoilery for the movies, so probably best not to read any further if you're actually gonna watch them.
With the movies, the second one is both a prequel and a sequel to the first, as it takes place part way between the main timeline in the first movie and the timeline of the reporter investigating the events during the first movie four/five years later (It gets confusing cus the first movie has three different timelines all being told at more or less the same time). The guard in the second one is revealed to have been the only survivor of the second group who were making the bravery test film in the first film, and because he was being haunted by the ghost girl behind the curse, had deliberately gone to this uni to work because, while the inverted wards kept spirits in, it also still prevented other spirits from being drawn in (I think? It's been a while since I watched it), and after the events of the second film, that's when he gets the job as a cameraman to lure the reporter there in order to find some way to put the curse to a permanent end.
Whereas this game is really a sequel in name only. I think there's an easter egg or something that makes a call back to the original group in the first game, but beyond that, it's pretty much a standalone story.
Really solid game, I love the characters, especially Sergeant Huang!

This was one of those games I was sad to see finish. I really like the longer episodic games with great and entertaining story to binge on.

Huge congratulations to the dev team for making a great game! I liked the first one, but this one is even better! I love that they explain the mysticism elements enough that anyone from any culture can understand within the context of the game, without needing previous knowledge. The characters were wonderful. None of them felt like throwaways or were annoying, and actually I enjoyed them a lot. Kind of sad we didn't get to see Sarge and his sugar poots get free, but A-Hai choosing to commemorate his sacrifice is a very sweet touch.

Loved this, definitely better than the first game. Makes me want to watch the second movie again. Cried during Sarge’s redemption, he was so cool at the end. The best part was the ballerina, that was terrifying. Loved Professor keeping guard on the elevator at the end, good puppy.
Yeah, this was way better than the first! The character modeling was sometimes a bit janky, but the environments were great! This was one of your best playthroughs in a while Chris: Good work!

Man this was a great game… what a surprise… I adored these characters and really wished it would never end. I’d say the first game way really good and this one was way better. Making characters that are enjoyable is lacking in so many of these horror games and i loved these ones !

1. Not gonna lie I was super ecstatic when i saw the spiritual talisman in this game. Although while the object isn't presented than in image format which was still good in my books.
2. Poody, Sarge and the black cat while they're NPCs they were def. the MVP of the game.
3. The monsters were scary. The Neckless Consort was def. scary. Lol plus 1 of fear of elevator is a go 😅
The ending was a bit lackluster imho. I did wish there was more to it than a maze run around. I also wish there was additional back story to the NPC characters esp the black kitty, Poody, Sarge, and that green orb which I think it's Ting Ting or it can be also Sarge's wife. Would've love to see the 4 pupils and the master sealing the evil.
I think the green orb is the fiancee, I forgot her name.
Green orb is leading the main characters to break the seal. I’m guessing it’s a part of the big boss.
Finally a cool 18:24 villain design.

Like a lot of ppl here, my biggest complaint about the game is it’s too short! Other minor thing I’d nick pick on is that there are probably only 2 voice actors who can pronounce the names correctly 😂
Btw, the dog Poody, it reminds me that back in the day, there are quite a lot of stray dogs that look exactly like Poody with either yellow and black fur in Taiwan (so mostly they are called Blacky or Yellowy - very creative, I know) there was one like Poody that was a rescue in where my parents worked…super smart and sweet dog, I think of her sometimes

Very entertaining game, great visuals, good voice acting, cool puzzles. I didn't really care for the "chase sequences" tbh, but it was very fun hearing you freak out while doing them Chris ^^ Really looking forward to another series, they're always a great time.
I would love it if the ghosts could be released to the afterlife or the cycle of reincarnation or whatever their perceived desirable outcome would be. Though I don't honestly think Poody needs to be released from the building. He seems to be quite content to continue his afterlife in the school.

Maybe not everything had sense in the end but to the last part it was a well written scenario.
That was awesome, the only thing I'm wondering is how the Sargent was killed. I know he was carrying his wife thru the parking garage but it switched to him carrying ahai and never showed what happened in the past to make him a spirit in the building.
A good game, though I might have opted to not call it The Bridge Curse 2 and just The Extrication, since no bridges were involved.

The plot's scope became way too big which is why I feel that the plot would fit more with Resident Evil style of game rather than horror survival.
Otherwise very entertaining although key plot points should probably be hammered more.

He was never evil. He's long dead and has remained at the school trying to calm his wife down (through flowers, you can read this from one of the notes). Sometimes even he lost control of himself due to the negative energy at the place, but his buddhist ring on the wrist seems to calm his done almost all the time.

That ending was not very satisfying, especially after that climax. Still an amazing game, though.
