Daryl's new show called The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon sees him finally arrive in France. This is the show I've most been looking forward to because we're seeing such a familiar Walking Dead character in such an unfamiliar place in The Walking Dead with evidently completely new rules in the zombie apocalypse. In season 1 Edwin Jenner said that France was the last place to fall but were also the closest to finding a solution to the zombies. Something happened and instead of fixing the walkers, they likely created a new one.
The silence in the Daryl Dixon trailers is noticeable and for a Walking Dead show there appears to be a big lack of zombies in the teasers. In this video I talk about when I think we'll next see the new walkers in The Walking Dead universe. They're clearly faster, stronger and harder to take out. I also talk about how Carol even gets there in season 2!
Do YOU even want new walkers in The Walking Dead? When do you think we'll next see the new walkers? How do you think Carol gets there? Let me know what you think down below. Thanks for watching. I'll see you soon.
I will probably have videos out for the Rick Grimes and Michonne show trailers and sneak peeks once they come out! I'm not too sure about a video for Dead City but certainly keep an eye out for my videos on the rest of FTWD season 8, the Daryl Dixon trailer and the Rick Grimes and Michonne show trailer breakdowns!

monkey
How the fuck did he get to France
there is nothing new about any of the walker variants, we have had all variants in U.S. since season 1 episode 2, variants that used a piece off concrete to break the windows, one climbed over a chain link fence and then of course there was morgans wife who could turn doorknobs, all since episode 2 of walking dead
but yet not until season 12 do they realize these variants capable of climbing, it makes zero sense!
What is your take on the acid touch zombie?
I love how Daryl went from a character who was supposed to not even make it to season 2 to having his own show
A character that wasn’t even supposed to be in the show😳 he originally auditioned for Merle but they liked him so much they wrote a character for him!
@@incredibleedibledez ikr that fact shocked me
He's the Jesse Pinkman of twd
A lot of people forget that walkers was a lot faster in season 1 of the walking dead such as scene when Rick goes into atlanta and he turns around corner to meet a horde and then they start running but slowly towards Rick.
And that one was using a rock to break the glass I never noticed that
@@xXlyAssasin1Xx and dont forget the little girl walker who picked up her teddy and then turns around to be a walker and then starts moving very fast towards Rick.
@@tommybanner04gamingtime56 oh yeah very true
And Morgan’s Wife, and the Walker that climbs the fence after Glenn and Rick when they’re running towards the box truck. And there is also a Walker who tries to start climbing up that ladder on the side of the building after Glenn and Rick when they first meet.
its been stated many times those first few episodes “smart” walkers were retconned
I hope they give us flash back scenes with the labs and the fall out moments.
Oooh yes! That’s what I loved about the beginning of fear TWD, was we saw the beginning of the fall!
New variants are needed, and also more focus on zombies. The show started focusing less and less on zombies and in season 7-8 it felt like they barely exist. Like, Negan can yell into a mic outside of Alexandria but no zombies show up… come on. The stuff between humans are important but at this point feels like the zombies are just an aftethought because literally everyone is a murdering machine at this point.
Ya but how many years has it been now? flesh rots and not many people left to make fresh ones
I mean you do know that's what the comics are right?
The zombies were never the focus, they were the background for characters. Of course in a show they had to change that which is fine.
This is dumb. They obviously extensively cleared their immediate area.
@@KanaTokisho wow, great argument, i don’ care one bit though. It was something i disliked about the comic as well.
@@tracymorgansbelly3322 yeah, that’s why we were hearing all the gunshots before Negan started speaking… right? Oh wait, we didn’t. Another stupid argument. You guys truly suck.
I’m super excited for the Daryl show. That idea of Daryl finding that room where the variant walker shown in the end credits of World Beyond was at, and finding that laptop with Jenner on it, it would be a beautiful callback to season 1
Yea I think so too
Yeah that would be dope. Imagine the shock he'd experience seeing Jenner again, even if it was just in a video message.
YESSS sooo hyped, I cannot wait and can't wait for the second season already !!!!
After Glenn and Rick climbing fences to
But this lady was in the Beyond at the end she was the one that got shot watching the control center doctor I 90% believe that this is the same person that hired that dude to chase Daryl she even look like the same person in the world Beyond The Walking Dead that's in now Darryl show chasing him
I swear walker Shane was a variant! He came back almost *IMMEDIATELY* after he died, and if he hadn’t injured his leg (when he fell from the window at the school as he was getting medical supplies with Otis), he would have literally been RUNNING towards Rick… He was a variant, no doubt.
Early seasons walkers could open doors, use weapons and even carry toys. Rewatch season one and two.
Except variants is a new construct that just happens to encompass early season exploration where walkers could pick up toys or bang rocks on windows... Before they settled on what type of zombie they wanted to keep..
@FunctionalJunkie_ true, doesn't take from the fact he probably could've been had they had more of an idea on them back then.
@@FunctionalJunkie_ the variant story is a cop out because they basically ignored the walkers for to long.
@@kristingallo2158 Oh yeah. I’ve watched multiple times, and there are lots of examples of variants early on, although they seemed to kind of phase them out a bit as time went on.
“The silence in these teasers are deafening” George Drake with the bars 🔥🔥
It'd be cool as hell if he stumbled upon a group of survivors that have some type of tech and they show him Dr. Jenner's recordings back in S1.
That would send chills down my spine.
The only person I could imagine that could survive RUNNING walkers is daryl dixon tbh
The variant zombies should not have the bone around their brain replaced with silly putty but instead have standard human thickness skulls that are impervious to silly straws, pencils, and model planes. I remember alot of times when the characters got pinned and desperately reached for a weapon and came up with some very fragile things that should never have worked to penetrare a skull and destroy enough brain to stop them.
I agree, however at one point I do recall Carl saying that some walkers have softer heads. Which idk how that would work, but fuck it, whatever
I guess bone decay
Looks good. I think "fast" zombies could only exist for a very short duration, quickly burning up the bodies resouces in a bid to spread the contagion. The body is dead and therefore cannot replenish it's resources despite "eating" dead flesh, which is why they're slow. A slow zombie uses little resources/metabolism and relies on untiring unthinking persistance to spread the contagion. Just my two bits on the subject.
In the show or the first two seasons they constantly say that they don’t get tired and that’s when they were still fast and kinda smart
See, my problem with dead city is that the walkers don’t pose an actual threat, it’s just the usual “oh they weren’t paying attention and got bitten”
So I am hoping that walkers pose more of a threat in this series.
The spin-offs so far are just human on human conflict, with zombies in the background as a way to kill off side characters.
Dead City was pretty boring ngl. Cool visuals, but the story itself just didn't do it for me.
I sort of disagree just cause when walkers started falling from the rooftops when Maggie and Negan entered the city, it felt like the city walkers were a legit threat
@@boomynote solid, I guess I just miss the days when it was mostly human vs walker, not human vs human with walkers in the background.
Maybe that's the message , no matter how bad humanities enemies seem , we will always be our own worst enemy .
What about the blob zombie in DeadCity? That thing was straight out of nightmares!
Season 1 of The Walking Dead, we saw Walkers use bricks, we saw them climb over a chainlink fence, we saw them sitting on curbs and bus seats. Even sleeping inside a tank.
People always said since they were fresh zombies they still did some human things like as you said
I'd describe WWZ zombies like ants, climbing on each other to get somewhere, some ants turn into clumps to float on water.
Faster and cleverer zombies are a fun idea to play with, as long as they do it tastefully, walking dead was always meant to be a love letter to Romero's work and Romero didn't like running zombies, so I don't think it would be right for them to make the undead too crazy but faster and cleverer than they are? sure. Whatever they choose to do Norman Reedus is going to carry this show on his shoulders like a King and I'm going to happily dive in and watch the journey.
I think it’s this, all seems abandoned and sorta like the people finally killed the dead, what if the show is just a thriller where we see Daryl interacting with survivors trying to get home but also wondering where the dead are and finally in the end it’s revealed the survivors were able to gather all the fast evolved walkers into one place and trap them and Daryl accidentally released them when trying to find a way home ending in total chaos and maybe even a cliffhanger till the second season where he gets in contact with Carol about what happened
I think this will be amazing. It has all the making. I only hope they don’t F it up with poor direction. I also hope the pace and reveals are kept at a fast pace.
I love the idea, Rick didn't understand what Jenner was talking about either, and we don't hear his exact words. I think this is the build up to finding out Rick is the successful lazarus subject. It's the only thing that would make sense. Experiments to bring people back to life, Ricks miraculous recovery and survival. Variants displaying more human like motif functions. Side effect being aggression, nostalgia and reduction to loss of empathy. Not cognitive empathy, but emotional. Note this isn't the loss of emotion, just the lack of recognizing how others feel. Though the empathy part could just be perceived due to impulsive aggressive behavior. It would make it even more heart wrenching if the only side effect was aggression, in which case walker variants may be emotionally aware of their actions and even feel guilt. Though it would be easier and more sensible for the writers to suggest that due to mutation in a virologist sense, Ricks variation (Transferable or not) could be so unique, the chance of recreation is near to none. It's my suspicion that the reason Rick is bare foot on that beach, is because he now knows this. The walkers can't hurt him like they can hurt others. More likely they were taken to stop him running away though.
The bridge that Daryl crosses is a famous Roman aqueduct/viaduct in the South East of France, le Pont du Gard, it is not very near to Marseille.
Daryl has clearly walked a very long way from the Atlantic coast to get to that bridge.
It's one of the biggest pieces of Roman architecture still standing.
apparently he lands near marseille which makes no sense coming from the US (it is not on the atlantic coast) and some scenes in the trailer are in the exact opposite of France, le mont Saint Michel, those two places are separated by over 1000km. I think they will take huge liberties with the actual geography, which doesn't bother me too much if it gives us beautiful pictures like "le pont du Gard"
Something about the Font used in the new series here connects in some way to the series. The font used to introduce the new show has an 'ivy/thorns' motif to it. Looking at the sets, they too are all covered in ivy and creepers. Eff knows what you call them in the U.S.
'The Dead were made here' (Les morts sont nes ici) is justification enough for that guy to kick the virus back into full swing (as he knew the woman would rise as a fast variant) seems to be the kicker though. Why would he want to punish one of the OG french zombie experimenters by re-releasing the harsh full power of these super violent walkers?
Another point is the use of the word 'cohort' as used by Jenner in his communique. Cohort implies a fellow experimenter (in this case). The teams Violet and Primrose perhaps are not just 2 sides of the same sword - yet why one went to the conference and the other never probably holds the key.
As for Dayrl leading straight back to that room and that laptop - that would be a cool idea, but on screen would just be a bit too cheesy. Although I might suggest that somebody key to Daryl's intel going forward is one of the people that brings this precise information TO Daryl.
It would be so cool if they went the Dying Light route with UV-susceptible zombies, with recent infected being able to run.
As long as the special effects are on-point, I'm all aboard
The zombies became more sensitive to uv light in 2. In the first one , it was more of a discomfort to them and mainly burned only volatiles.
Have you seen the Zombies in Black Summer those were some fast Mfs
Great job on this video!! I’m so excited for this show!!
FYI - from an ameture radio operator - you don't need a 'huge tower' to transmit radio 1/2 way (or more) around the world.
People do this all the time with just a length of wire (or the correct length) strung across their back yard.
We need variants, but more variants, more dangerous, more slow and friendly, even new ones! I need this show to be alive forever
We need a friendly variety that doesn't desire to eat people. Just walks about and bumps into them.
Thank you for dropping another good video, and on the Daryl show. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it once it starts
I remember before the whispers were revealed there were like 2 episodes where we were lead to believe that it was the zombies evolving and that was ansuper scary idea. Almost a warm bodies kinda thing where the zombies communicate with each other
Haven’t even watched your whole video but I had to pause it and let you- nice promo transition 😂😂🙌🏽
Some preview or trailer shows Daryl is on some ship somehow, then some shit breaks out on the ship, then Daryl jumps off the ship with fire licking his heels and a fast zombie trying to grab him. Presumably thats how he ends up on the overturned lifeboat and drifts to shore.
September can’t come soon enough! Thanks for still providing us TWD content bro
Im sleeping till then im done with maggie and negan so...
@@kyletau7472 épisode 5 was shit imo, but enjoyed the rest
Hi how are you watching dead city's in England? 😮
I feel like these spin offs should lead back to the main show being revived.
"The Jogging Dead" and "The Running Dead" series will air in 2069
The bridge structure is the Pont du Gard it's an ancient roman aqueduct in the south of France which is also the region of France Merseille is in, the Pont du Gard is an iconic historical icon for France so it's no wonder two zombie franchises set in France would feature it I don't think there's anything more to it then that, it's like saying Walking Dead copied Zombieland because they both had the white house in it at one point.
The Daryl Show is what I'm really looking forward to. I like the character and if the writers don't mess it up as they did FTWD it should be really enjoyable. I like the idea of fast(er) walkers. Just please, please don't let the writing become like FTWD.
Honestly, walkers that can climb, run, and use objects as weapons are way for terrifying than the dumb, slow, easy to kill ones
The French zombies seems like a cool idea. I didn’t care for the fact that they brought back variant zombies in the literal last few episodes of the tv show. “Yeah we just haven’t seen these zombies before.” But then we go on to see a handful of them in a handful of episodes… make that make sense!
Will French zombies smell worse than regular ones?
@@shaggyrumplenutz1610that’s what makes them variants
@@shaggyrumplenutz1610 they'll wear barrettes and smoke cigarettes and just say oui oui as they saunter
Sounds like Daryl calls on Carol to clean up the mess. That’s what Carol does the best!
That clip of Morgan being used as promo setup made me lol
The guy from s1 had such a grand vision. It took 10 seasons and a decade for the to realise that he had it all figured out in s1. I would love tp live in a. Universe where the s1 director wasnt fired
12:27 really good stuff man 👍🏽
Let's goo new George drake video
When Dr Genner said about seeing nothing in America, the way the french indicated to him. He saids no he hasn’t seen anything like that. ( Not like he was going outside the CDC to scavege) he was very comfortable inside the CDC.
New variants need to come out at night and be kept at bay by UV lights🤣
The best man scaped deal i seen so far
The variants are cool but they’ll be a gimmick unless used impactfully. The “walker king” was disappointing because an important character wasn’t killed by it.
Imagine if in the S11 finale, that walker shoved a Carol, Father Gabriel, Aaron type of character? I feel like that’s the only way you make them truly scary, if they get someone we actually care about
I haven’t seen since they killed off Carl. And no one beloved died since?
My bet they just walked and walked tell they found the water than they just got stuck in the ocean
I really hope we get a scene with dr Jenner just to tie it together and connect stuff like him sending his tapes that he recorded to the French so they knew he was still working
And not a single person recalls the scene with Glen and Rick. Where they are getting to the moving truck and the zombie who freaking climbs the fence to get to them. Like come on!!! Just that one?!
Daryl washed up on a boat that was pushed off a bigger boat. Probably CRM related so Daryl has a tie to them as well.
Am I the only person who would like to see what it was like in different places when the virus broke out. For example how fear the walking dead was
They stole the fast walker “smart walker” idea from Zombie Fallout book series written by Mark Tufo. Dude introduced several “zombie variants” in his books.
Marseilles doesn’t make sense as a place to just make it to accidentally. It’s not on the Atlantic coast, but we’ll into the Med, and he would have had to sail past the entire Spanish coastline to get there.
The big question before the teaser was: how did Daryl get to France? Everybody assumed he got there by boat. But my guess is everybody assumed he landed on the Atlantic coast somewhere, perhaps in Normandy. But the teaser sets up an even bigger question: Why/how in the hell did Daryl get to MARSEILLES?! Marseilles is a seaport on the NORTHERN MEDITERRANEAN SEA! This means Daryl did NOT go straight from the New England/Northern Seaboard coast of the United States straight to mainland Europe. He either arrived in France by way of the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain) before dumping himself into the Mediterranean for some reason, or he came through northern Africa (but why?), or he swam/took a ship through the Strait of Gibraltar. But WHY DO ALL THAT just to get him to France? I'm so much more curious about how/why he got to this particular place than I am what happens to him once he gets there.
Watched the 1st 10mins of the show and he says he was looking for somebody and things didnt go to well for him and now hes here while speaking into a voice recorder he found wish i could of seen more but the new variant you see was ok nothing to crazy but it does make you wonder what happened in france for these kinda zombies to appear
8:30 you didn’t have to do Eugene like that 😂
(I haven’t watched this video when I made this comment) but I think they aren’t showing any walkers in the teasers because they want us to have not idea what Daryl is facing for walkers
The fact is that he just locked at that orange building whit the green door when we early saw it as ''New Hilltop wich Failed becaus of the downed Wall s and the breaked gate's ''
I get such death Stranding in Europe vibes from all the silence and hiking. As long as they stick the direction and writing the character will carry the show. 🤞🤞 as that seems a big ask anymore lol
Can't wait to see the show
It would be very fascinating if, as part of the plot, Daryl Dixon, even being one of the bravest characters in the series, could express that after so many years he fears walkers again as he did at the beginning of the series when everything was new. and then we see that once again it exceeds its limits (catharsis type) and shows that not even the new variant could defeat it. This would be very fascinating and I would like the writers to show that arc.
Would guess that someone has heard or knows how much of a badass he is, and has deliberately made sure he washed up there. Likely the CRM. Who with the CRM would know how much of a badass he is? Early theory - Rick is the reason Daryl washes up in France. Either because there’s a important mission (maybe relating to those labs) and they need someone who won’t fail…or/and because Rick thinks it can lead Daryl to finding/saving him from the CRM.
Yeah I’m well on board with this… Rick has told the CRM about Daryl and is the reason he winds up there.
Black Summer the Zombies were fast as hell and you had to get them good in the head to put them down Walkers in TWD always seemed kind of slow I loved when Alpha showed up with her horde and the Whisperers I think at that point some of the Zombies were able to climb use rocks to break glass or open door of course people are the essential ingredient because with them lies hope even though the worst can also appear when people are put into dire situations
It actually translates to "Power TO the living."
I think its good to finally branch out into other parts of the world and the US. We are now seeing NYC and France. Its interesting on how survivor's delt with or their thoughts about on the dead or the apocalypse. Hope they dont F this up.
If im not mistaken that is not just any bridge. Thats a roman aqua duct. I know at this point in the apocalypse people have had to revert back to old technology. We have seen walkers get into water supplies and infect people
Can’t wait to see a variant Walker grasp onto a law book and excitingly proclaim “I’m Saul Goodman, did you know you have rights? The constitution says you do”
Day of the Dead 2008 had a scientist become a walker and retained a lot of his knowledge.
There was even a docile "vegan walker" who used a gun to protect his friends from other walkers
@@phoenicianathletix2866 SAUL GOODWALKER CONFIRMED
8:33 This part was smoothly transitioned
I wonder if there would be a scene where Daryl sees that computer with those copies of videos of Jenner on there.
9:03 What do you mean we never saw it again in the episodes with the commonwealth when the soldiers were leading the horde to the gates the zombie with a knife climbed into the back of the jeep, the camera cut away but i assume it slashed the dude thats why the jeep turned over in that episode pretty sure its the last one or second to last.
🎉🎉🎉 bingo
This will be Cool! I can't wait...
If you look at this show from a stand-alone perspective it could be cool. I just struggle to believe he got to France on a dingy😂😂
11:05 tell me you have no idea how radio works without telling me you have no idea how radio works
Real question:
Do think Darryl Dixon will replace Rick's brother in France or will he run into Rick's brother and move forward through the story?
Who knows
The silence in the teasers reminds me of the silence of the first 10 or so minutes of 28 days later, especially cuz the zombies are similar in these two series
I am torn, and for the silliest reason-
A) I love zombies- slow zombies, fast zombies, fungus zombies, all zombies are cool.
B) I know that my chances of survival in TWD have dropped considerably with these variant dead.
Cool zombies… or chances of survival?
Walking Dead is like BEER to me. I normally stop drinking beer over the weekend, when I have had enough. yes, I have had my fair share of walking dead.
What’s that song sample used with the zombie jumper?
Darryl's literally god, he came down from the heavens to guide the people through the hard times.
Also looks like they’ve given them a good budget
That's not a bridge in Marseilles. That is an ancient Roman aqueduct.
Great VIDEO! VERY excited on seeing Darryl in a foreign territory with walkers THAT THINK?!! How exciting is that! How he gets there, how Carol gets there, George you have some logical, exciting ideas. One thing about Carol, she must have heard something about her "Pookie" being in trouble. That will be interesting, since we know Carol is very protective of her "family." She's become this great warrior, since season 1. Love her journey from a battered wife, protecting her young, to "I'm going to f@!king kill you if you touch anyone I love." How she gets there? Carol can do anything when she really wants to. "Here, have another cookie." She's slick, I can see her playing dumb and innocent to even the CRM, then whether it be a gun up her sleeve (awesome scene) or making bombs (terminus) she'll save that Darryl whether he likes it or not. Looking forward to seeing the variants and more of your videos. "I'll see you soon!"
These new zombies will be faster, stronger, pick up objects as well as help you with your algebra homework.
Id recognize that World War Z zombie on the thumbnail anywhere
Love it!
It's also not a bridge in Marseille, but a Roman Aqueduct.
it is both an aqueduct and a bridge, it is around 130km from marseille
I cant wait , even though the other spin offs were kinda weak in plot I still enjoyed them all , If they keep making them , ill keep wathcing .
My theory for this show is that there will be a plot point where Daryl either finds ricks brother, or at least finds signs of him, this is because in the comics ricks brother was in France when it started, but he ended up dying.
Edit: he was apparently in Spain not France my bad, but they could also retcon it.
in the comic book he was in barcelona spain They could change it around
@@user-kv6vt3vb8i oh was he, my bad, they could also retcon his death too ig
@@australianmasterchief I'm thinking they'll change it around and have him in france I hope
remember Carle was going out on a boat in the walking dead show. and she came back to seaside i think one time
If he doesn't see the Dr Jenner recording, all hope is gone
France... That was one of the major original show mistakes, that showed the utter lack of research among the writers. I do remember Jenner saying that the French stoppped their research, because they ran of energy, because "fossil fuels" ran out. That made me laugh out loud, because France is a country with the largest share of nuclear energy from their powerplants (more than 60 percent), and while sure, making a nuclear power plant run in apocalypse conditions would be hard, but would also be very important to the government, especially if an important research is going on. France has also like the strogest military in Europe, so they could hold in such strategic targets for a long time.
But hey, writers needed some developed country to chose, that would be familiar in some manner to the Americans, so they chosed France to rang their BS about how we can not rely on the fossil fuels. And they've chosen a country that uses them in the smallest extent xD
They need to bring it back to the Romero Roots which is what inspired the comics and shows to be made. Use Land Of The Dead as some influence on future shows. Zombies using grunts to command others and be more intelligent
Nah if Daryl would see a video with Dr. Jenner that'd be *too good* talk about full circle.
This bridge is the aqueduc de roquefavour.
"...of all the places in France it's Marseille..." Well, it's a port city. Makes sense for somebody washed up on the coast of france that he ends up in a port city on the coast...
No it is not, it is "le pont du Gard", and no marseille makes litte sense it is not on the atlantic coast. France has more than one coast
@@p.ccarbec6261 Yeah, you are right!
I can't wait to see these new type of walker in action on Daryl Dixon series
Babe wake up, George drake posted a new video
bro even Daryl pulled up in France 😭😭😭💀💀💀💀
I don't understand after all these years the walking dead characters have perfect teeth , cars can still work with fuel and they keep finding new shoes to wear after old ones wear out.... and after all these seasons of the show with Walkers not having variants I HOPE they make a good reason they suddenly now start running
Yeah so anyways I really hope they don't make Daryl come to France in a boat rowing across Atlantic :D
I hope the walker variant is just more human like. But not. Sort of like use a more of its voice early on, capable of “calling for help” in some way. Basically picture a 1 year old but with a deep desire to eat you entirely.
Hmmm.
Possibly Daryl joined a research team trying to get to France and something happened while on the boat that made them abandon ship
So, this is my main problem with new variants. We are at least 10 years in at this point. Any zombies would have fallen apart by now. The physical deterioration wouldn't allow them to exist at this point. The show has been pretty realistic in general, so this kind of breaks the walls of any realism it has had. Sure it's all made up so anything can happen, but by now unless newly turned, there should be no hordes or larger groups of zombies, maybe one or two in general.
If you watched the other walking dead shows a science team talked about how some walkers decay a lot slower then normal corpses
