All platinum groups, my point is New Edition is only the only singing group black or white in history of music to break apart from one group to achieve so much success then come back together and still have so much success with New Edition as a group these dudes are still young and still got it.

Bobby was definitely that dude, but Ralph had the more commercial J5-sounding voice that Maurice Starr wanted on lead. Then he did the same thing initially with New Kids, giving little Joey most of the leads on their early hits.
That's what caused the earlier rift in the group - That's why Brown left to strike out on his own. He had some lead moments with Mr. Telephone Man however he was not the de facto leader of New Edition as he wished to be, hence he left the group.
Bobby went solo and had equal success though. Go back and study all of Bobby’s hits. Ralph needed New Edition. Bobby was a Star.
