- In all honestly, I wouldn't be surprised If I've cooked more than 10,000 filet mignons as every restaurant I've ever worked at has served this mighty steak to its guests and I am always the meat guy!!

This dude.... can cook! Love your vids man keep at it. I appreciate your steak in three pounds of butter vids an unhealthy amount. Been a dream of mine as well.
I don’t think you understand how big fans like me really appreciate your work thru your recipes. I’m obsessed with your way of cooking and your charisma through it all. Thank you for sharing those skills. You’re one of the best food CZcamsrs in the game. 🙌🏽☺️🤤
I really appreciate those kind words!! thank you so much!
I concur
@@AndTeeter me too!
I 3rd it. A big yea.
I catch everything he does on all the platforms and I totally 100000% agree.
Love your videos man. They make amazing cooking easy. I've been experimenting on steaks for ages because of you! And I'm getting better.
Thanks!!!🥰
The fact that you recognized that you burned the onion is the kind of honesty that impresses me and that very few tv/youtube chef have. You have gained yourself a subscriber!
what a great fkin accomplishment
He couldn’t exactly hide from it could he….
@@OneMor3Win I mean, he could have started a new video if he was that self conscious enough.
As someone else that has hardly ever made stea myself, let alone cooked a good steak, I just made the best steak I've ever had. Ever. Thank you so much. Did this with Bison tenderloin and it was unreal.
I just cooked some filets for my wife and I, about 1" thick, for an early Valentines Day lunch, as we will have contractors working in the house tomorrow and followed this recipe with the exception of having the herbs, I was out and not much of a selection in the stores. I have been cooking for over 45 years and this is the absolute best steak I ever cooked, my wife was smiling while she was eating and they teared up, I asked what is wrong and she said I am finished with my steak. This will be my go to from now on. Normally cook ribeyes on the pit, no more. Thanks for sharing your recipe. THE BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER COOKED!!!! I've had steaks at Emirils in New Orleans, paid $70 for a filet and what I just cooked is 20X better
I’ve learned so much from you! I’m not a professional chef by any means but I love cooking for fun and you’re always inspiring me! Thank you man!
Absolutely my favorite channel!! Dude, I’ve been cooking for myself and my family for over 20 years. You’ve taught me how to elevate my dishes into the stratosphere!! You are awesome!! Thank you and please never stop inspiring!! 🙏
Hey I love all your vids! This one is my favorite I think. I love how in depth you go about processes and everything
this guy deserves all the success in the world. dedicated to his craft would be an understatement. thank you for learning a specialized skill and sharing it with the masses, my dude. respect
You're awesome Sunny! I've learned so much from you. Thank you. 🌸
I decided to get into cooking recently and found your channel. Something about it just clicks extremely well with me compared to others. Well, after my first ever attempt at cooking a nice steak by following your instructions, I can now say I know. That was the best tasting steak I've ever had hands down and this was only my first attempt! Thank you so much for making these videos, will definitely be trying out everything on here now!
you should watch guga's videos
@@elijahfirmalino5304 You guys should watch the video with both Guga AND Sonny (ThatDudeCanCook) in it. It's pretty good.
do not watch guga.
Thank you soo very much!! I made my first steak tonight and followed you directions!! It came out perfectly!!
Sonny. I have tried this dish before with many steaks. But following your steps exactly. I made several Filet Mignons tonight that I think you would be proud of. Has to be hands down the best thing I’ve ever prepared. Thank you sir.
" You lose the sear....you loose the color.....loose the color....you Loose Flavor!!.."..😛..I love this man for his sharing, caring...and wisdom. Sonny is a cross between a Buddhist monk, a Chef...and a UFC fighter!! (Fridge knows that well)
That you have to remove your steaks that early is a misnomer.
I’ve made this a few times following your instructions and my family loves it ❤ I keep all of these ingredients on hand anyway, so it’s perfect for us and we’re making it again this weekend. Thank you 🙏
Yummy!!! I plant to try this recipe:) Thanks for sharing!!!
Made this and it was phenomenal, thank you for sharing your delicious flavors
DAMN....I thought I had seen every way there was to cook a steak and THIS...THIS RIGHT HERE! I'm trying this exactly this weekend. Filets from Costco, the whole deal!!
Thank you so much for teaching me how to cook a filet mignon! I used your recipe and honestly this is the best home cooked steak I’ve ever made. Just wanted to make sure I told you thank you!
My new favorite chef. Not only extremely personable but an excellent chef and inspirational educator. Yep I’m a fan girl now.
Damn. This guy reminds me that there are levels to this game. Very strong food knowledge!
Thanks for the good content!
"This is so good it's almost worth demonetizing the video by cussing" 😂😂😂
Looked amazing! Thanks for the tips
Excellent demonstration accompanied with informative information- Bravo.
Thank you twice
You are by far the best cook to watch the energy the recipes the fridge beat down and you living in Co is also great
I followed your recipe for Christmas Eve dinner (rosemary salt included) and everyone agreed it was the best, most flavorful filet I've ever cooked. Thank you for sharing!
Just made some prime filets and used this recipe with the rosemary salt seasoning. Holy moley man, this is incredible. Thanks for the tip about taking them off sooner when basting, that’s no lie. Cooked slightly more than expected but they were so friggin delicious. Might get some from the wife tonight.
Just finished hiking across America and looking at this steak has got me hungry and wanting steak for dinner
Started cooking my steaks like this a year ago after watching your videos, I’ll never go back to the old way!
Ok
First time cooking filet mignon, followed your recipe and it’s crazy good. Thank you
For real just did it tonight and it was restaurant quality
SERIOUSLY!! You are a ROCK STAR in the cooking game!! In this one video, I can't believe how much I learned. I actually am going to try and make a "filet Mignon" following your recipe. That steak looked nothing less than PEEERRRRRFECT!! I am just so happy I found your channel. Arlene
Wow. Thanks for posting!
At first I thought the sound of the steaks being added back to the butter for basting was Dude adding an applause sound, which would absolutely be appropriate….for each and every one of these vids. Love the videos, Dude.
Thank you for this wonderful recipe and the basting tutorial. Cooked this for Mr wife this afternoon. Absolutely the best filet I have ever had. You sir are awesome, love your work,
Thank you...
I dont know of this means anything, but I have this routine to watch this exact video everytime before I cook fillet mignon 👍🏻 keep it up.
Thank you. I will try again using your method this time.
I just cooked 2 filets from following this video. Best steak I've ever had perfect medium rare melted in your mouth! Thank you
I think it’s time a syndicated company sponsored you for your own cooking show. I think you’d kill it! Keep up the amazing work, Sonny. 🙌
More like it would kill his soul working for those empty suits
Awesome video. I've never cooked filets, so I wanted an easy way to get the best flavor for them. Thanks for the recipe.
Sonny, bless your heart. I wouldn’t have tried this without your video. Oh-my-gosh! So good, so good, so good! Thanks you, for your humor, your instruction, your experience. And, oh, btw, good tip to open the windows… somehow the fire detector didn’t go off! I have to go lay down, I’m stuffed!
Omg did I thoroughly enjoy this video 😅 seriously the lesson & humor were the absolute best! Liked, subscribed & donated 👊
"This is so good it's almost worth de-monetizing the video!" LOL! Love it!
❤perfect job!!! Just love it!!
Following your directions I cooked my 1st filet. It was fabulous.
Since I discovered this video its the only way I cook em now. Phenomenal!! Thank you for this 😊
I'm with you. I only want my steaks this way now
I make your filets for people and literally blow their minds, it’s sooooo good. Thank you for sharing this recipe
If you “literally” blew their minds then you should be in jail. 😂
@@fgrodriguezqac I was acquitted :)
Me and my bf followed this step by step and OMG! It turned out soooo delicious and we felt like we were at a restaurant! We made surf turf style with lobster tail and mashed potatoes and green beans and now want to make steak like this every week if we could!
This video is amazing - both educational and entertaining
Logical thinking… Thank you for saying that. I watch a look of cooking videos and you’re the first person to put it that way.
Love the channel!
Just have to tell you... hubbie and I followed your instructions and had PERFECT FILETS!!!! Thank you Sonny!!!!♥️
Thanks for posting. Your tips helped me cook the perfect porterhouse. Filets next , but I'm already good at those
You're energy is refreshing, and hot damn that was a perfectly cooked steak
Man that dude can cook
Love it! Thank you sonny
Thank you, love your stuff
Thank you for this video man! I’m addicted to cooking like this now.
One modification I noticed makes it even better: don’t salt the meat, but use salted butter instead.
Turns up amazing.
Dude, up until two months ago I struggled to cook a medium/medium rare steak for my gf and I. It was either too rare or overdone.
Two months ago, I came across this vid.
Since then, I’ve cooked fillet twice, both times the steaks done to (our) perfection.
A bit late to the party but, just wanted to say “Thanks”, Dude.
Love his energy!!!
This Dude Can cook and very informative and hilarious 😂
This should have far more views. Other than Kenji's reverse sear video, this is one of the top ones I've seen. Also, I LOVE that you PAUSED to get flavor/color in the aromats and butter before continuing the cooking process, vs so many others just toss them into the pan with the steak and press on, which means they add very little.
I followed this technique last night and OMG - the best steak I've ever had in my 47 years. It was a spiritual experience!
How long would you say you basted it after the sear and rest? Im tryna make a masterpiece like this haha 😆
as a meat lover and steak lover i watched almost all the cooking steak videos by famous chef on youtube. i would say your one is the best.
GreAt walkthrough thank you!
That looks amazing! I love your channel sir. Thank thank you sir till next time
I couldn't agree more about burnt onions. They are absolutely delicious ! My favorite thing to have burnt onions with is fried bologna. Fried bologna about 1/2 inch thick, mashed potatoes, creamed corn and burnt onions is one of my favorite meals.
I only tune in to see the refrigerator get abused but the cooking is top notch
Thank you for this!! mine came out amazing!
Followed your instructions with perfects results!
lol the liver shot at the end. ThatDudeCanStrike
I consider myself a pretty good cook. Learned lots of stuff during the pandemic but always struggled with cooking steaks indoors on the stove top. Even bought a cast iron and still ruined many steaks. Following this video, I can confirmly say that I just made the best steak of my life. Thanks my man! Didn't even use the cast iron and it came out perfect.
Don't get too sucked into the cast iron hype. Stainless will also do very well for most steaks. I'd actually argue that cast iron is often too harsh for filet.I'd rather use it for steaks with more mass like ribeye or new york.
@@dirtyketchup I use a stainless or copper frying pan for my NY Strip, and they come out magnificent each time.
Wow… first time to see any video of yours. I must say….I’m impressed. Can’t wait to try it!
Was looking for a relatively simple way to cook filet mignon (that doesnt require a grill) since I dont have a go to recipe.
Just made this tonight and man this made the best, most tender, melt in your mouth steak. So so so good 😩
Omg! That looks amazing
OUTSTANDING VIDEO. I'm hooked. This guy needs his own show if he doesn't have one.
This gives me an idea of finishing up my souse vide precooked stake, instead of simply torching it).
This stake looked good! I just got addicted to tender texture of souse vide cooked proteins.
The closeups of the basting were great!
Absolutely the most amazing filet prep ever. The shallots were amazing and it was my first time using the rosemary salt. IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW! Absolutely great video. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar! Thank you!
Rosemary salt is a game changer for sure!
Garlic... burnt with the skin is bleeping amazing. I'm so full now. Perfect 👌
Guy sets off the smoke alarms when cooking. He is my people.
Looks amazing as always
Love from a fellow colorado resident
Proper steak cook. Couldn't argue with any of that ever.
Literally using these recipes in the kitchen. My cooking game was great, so I thought, now it is even better.
My fridge has no where as many Dents yet but I imagine after making some of these dishes I'm gunna have to rename it to Harvey.
Great vid. New follower. And I LOVE the smoke detector going off. It always happens to me. I learned to take them off the wall from Alton Brown, LOL!
Dude your energy is up at my level of energy 😂😂😂 love it! All those knuckle shots to the fridge sold me, not anger shots, oh nooo baby, HIGH HAPPY ENERGY 😂🙌🙏🏻. All energy needs a release 🤩🙏🏻🙌 SUBSCRIBED!
what really cracked me up was all the dents already in the refrigerator door :D
This is the best I’ve ever seen someone cook a filet mignon by far!
But it's the fucking classic way to cook it... I don't understand why people say this is amazing, this is like the most basic shit ever.
@@romanandresgonzalezgutierr6406 sometimes simple is the best
Thank you Sonny💪🏻 We got some expensive filet mignon, where do we go for best recipes EVER.. Yup, ur channel. We did this recipe and I'm quite proud to say we nailed it thanks to you. So good keep em coming!
Another educational & entertaining video! What are your thoughts on dry brining the filets for ~1 hour? Didn't look like you did that in the video.
Just made this and hands down the best Filet I’ve ever had.
Thanks Sonny! How would you deal with a thinner steak like a flatiron that takes about 2 minutes a side? With your fillet, was it fully cooked at your resting point and you’re just reheating / basting when you put it back in at low with the aromatics?
Also I found that when I used avocado oil for the first time on a steel pan at high heat, it turned to smoke the second it hit the pan! I was expecting it to be a way higher point and similar to canola but it totally blew up my smoke alarms :D
Hands down the best cook on CZcams. How do I know? Because when Sergeant Gilbert is reporting for duty “you know, you know you know”. 😂
A ton of work, but you make it look seamlessly easy and done to perfection. Made me hungry and I am currently eating pizza, LOL!
Good channel, and a decent enough variety of recipes.
He hasn't done a video on milk steak though. Many of us are waiting for that.
gotta love the ending!!!
I always season the cut side of the meat and it makes a big difference. Not a pro chef but it works for me
Love your show!!!
You should open a restaurant called Sergeant Gilbert, I'll be a regular customer!
Burnt onion is a flavor I also agree with! I love how you put that!!
Awesome Video. Thanks for sharing. I recently ate a whole tenderloin, also from Costco, because I thought the value was better than their 4 Filet Pack. I took me five dinners because I didn’t want to freeze the tenderloin after opening. I currently don’t want any more filet mignon but not because of your video.
LOL same thing happened to me, didn't want to freeze the meat and bought a whole tenderloin, Not sure what to do with all the leftover meat. guess freezing will have to do because I don't want to get sick of it. 👍
if you watch one of this guy's videos you've watched them all. Literally same video over and over with exact same reaction at the end.
Thank you! I'm probably only on my 20th steak if that. And I'm better from watching wonderful videos like this. Wish I could show you some of my work. Medium rare all the way! By the way, you ain't doing it right if the smoke alarm don't go off 😭. Mine does every time when searing💯 😤
omg listening to him pronounce the "H" in Herbs is a new pet peeve of mine.
