  • The Calgary Police Service (CPS) and the Calgary Police Foundation (CPF) produced this documentary to illustrate the holistic approach that our youth crime prevention programs take when addressing challenges faced by at-risk youth in our community.
It shares with the public and potential donors the youth crime prevention programs CPS and CPF offers, showcasing the potential impact these programs can have on children and youth. The documentary focuses primarily on two clients who accessed services offered by the Youth at Risk Development Program (YARD) and Multi-Agency School Support Team (MASST) programs. These programs are unique to the Calgary Police Service and funded by the Calgary Police Foundation.
YARD is a community-based early intervention initiative, delivered in partnership with the Calgary Police Service, Calgary Neighbourhoods and Alberta Health Services. YARD works with youth aged 10-17 who are currently at-risk, affiliated with a gang or involved in gang activity. YARD teams, consisting of a police officer and a registered social worker, work closely with youth, their families, schools and community agencies. For more information about YARD please contact the program via email at YARD@calgarypolice.ca, or by phone at 403-428-8409.
MASST is a joint partnership between the Calgary Police Service, the Calgary Board of Education, the Calgary Catholic School District, The City of Calgary’s Calgary Neighbourhoods and Alberta Health Services. The MASST program facilitates the early identification of high-risk behavior and the delivery of prevention and intervention services to children from five to 12 years old. Each MASST team consists of a police officer and a registered social worker who work closely with the city of Calgary school boards. For more information about MASST please contact the program via email at masst@calgarypolice.ca, or by phone at 403-428-5808.
The Calgary Police Foundation (CPF) was established to partner exclusively with the Calgary Police Service (CPS). The CPF funds six youth-based programs, including YARD and MASST, with the goal of reducing youth victimization and criminal activity. This is done by focusing on education, prevention and early intervention. The CPF targets areas where the need is greatest and implements programs where they will have the most impact on local children, youth and families. CPF funded programs educate and assist our local youth, and help to ensure Calgary is a great place to live and raise our families. For more information about CPF and their youth programs please call 403-428-8020, or visit calgarypolicefoundation.com/.
